In Store Today?

Had one of the eight or so local stores here tell me "definitely tomorrow" so I'll be going back at 10 to see if I can pick one up.

On another note.. I don't have a school ID but I do have a .edu email address, would providing that work? Or should I try to print out a class schedule or seomthing?

I would think a class schedule with id would be sufficient if they ask.
 
the people who actually want these bad enough will go to all the stores in their area in person and check. by the time you all call and THEN go down there, they will be gone.

I'm going to be in the general vicinity of all 5 Minnesota stores tomorrow morning so I'm sure I'll be fine. The one store that had them in MN didn't sell out until late this afternoon.

When people don't even know if the stores are going to stock them? Yeah right. The lines for the RMBP's have basically been nonexistent. As I said the only store in Minnesota that had them, and in a very limited quantity, didn't sell out until late in the afternoon. Once stores start receiving normal quantities people shouldn't have an issue getting theirs.

No, then you at least know which stores have stock and where to go to line up. 🙄

Come on, people aren't going to line up hours ahead of a time at a random Apple store that will only maybe have some RMBP's. 🙄

Well let me know if you find one... Got some other stuff to do tomorrow so not sure if I will be able to drive around and look for one... I guess it will depend on whether or not any store says for sure that they have some in stock and for sale.
 
It's really crazy to me that big stores are getting less than a dozen, and shipping is already pushed back to four weeks. Apple seems to have been a bit unprepared for this launch.

Went to the Mac Store in Albuquerque New Mexico yesterday and they told me to come back today before 10 AM and they should have some.

I got there before 10 (9:30) and told an employee named "Matt" that I wanted the new MBP Retina. He told me there weren't any and he'd let me know if any came in.

I had a genius bar appointment at 11:15 so I sat to wait for that.

At about 10:30, I overheard an employee tell a customer they had sold 3 MBP Retinas earlier that day. I asked that employee what had happened and he said that he would check in the back for me if there were any more. I then saw Matt selling 2 MBP Retinas to a customer right behind me. I asked him about it and he told me that that guy had just come in and asked for them. I told Matt that I was sitting right there and he knew I wanted one. Based on body language it looked like Matt was very chummy with this customer. I told Matt I didn't appreciate that he was selling to someone that had just walked in (it was about 11 AM) when I had been waiting to see if I could get one since 9:30. He told me that things just happen and I didn't have to shop in the store. I told him he didn't have to work there if he can't help a customer out on a first come first served basis. I later talked to another employee who told me the other customer had "reserved" the MBPRs, and I pointed out to him they weren't available online for in store pickup so the only way he could have reserved them was with some sort of preferential treatment. He told me they don't have preferential treatment. I told him that whatever he wants to call it, that is what had happened.

So long story short I didn't get one even though I was there yesterday and the first one there today looking for one. I guess its just the way they do things in the ABQ store you have to know someone even though they won't admit it.

I'll be talking to the store manager but based on who I have talked to already they just will stone wall me anyways.

Worst experience I've ever had in an Apple Store. I should have just ordered online the moment they became available. Live and learn I guess.

Fill out a survey for this store on apples website and rank it all 1 star. Then fill out a comment at the end and expect a call back from the store manager. Make sure to be detailed and include Matt's name and rude responses. I got a really rude mother effer canned for effing me over and being extremely rude.
 
Since you won't be able to get the base retina model with the 16GB upgrade in stores, I'm trying to decide if I really will just get the 8GB model from stores or just order it(16) online and wait a month.

Ugh
 
Just got back from 5th ave apparently they had them this morning which I was never told on the phone but sold out. Saw it and the machine is beautiful

Same thing I'm going through. I've decided to wait and see if shipping times come down, and also I want to check them out in store. I thought about opening up a bunch of programs and tabs like I would do and see if maybe 8 GB of RAM is enough.

It just worries me because my current MB is 4.5 years old and came with 1 GB of RAM stock. Even now, 4 GB isn't always enough. Just makes me worried for the future.

I would go 16GB to be safe, since it's not upgradeable. (Of course, how you use it should factor in too. I am a power user)
