Checked in the Kingston upon Thames apple store, and they said that they don't have the Retina MBP in stock, just the updated regular MBP

Online orders, the very minute the store came up, said 5-7 days. You really think stores aren't going to have them way sooner than this? London store already got them today, Apple didn't simply send all their stock to the UK. Stores here are either going to have them today or tomorrow, which is way better than the earliest online orders.

Regent Street store maybe. But Covent Garden didn't have theirs when I went in at 1PM yesterday. Guy in store said, "Maybe tomorrow, more likely Thursday."

Well let me know if you find one... Got some other stuff to do tomorrow so not sure if I will be able to drive around and look for one... I guess it will depend on whether or not any store says for sure that they have some in stock and for sale.

Yeah, I'll PM you if I find any. I'm gonna call all 5 stores a few rounds today incase they just shipments in the afternoon or something. One of them HAS to get at least a few.

There are 4 apple stores within an hour of my house. 2 to the west 2 to the east. If they were closer I could swing by all 4 of them and probably get lucky. As it is I will probably test my luck with the west.

If you call them at 9, will they actually tell you stock?

Same thing I'm going through. I've decided to wait and see if shipping times come down, and also I want to check them out in store. I thought about opening up a bunch of programs and tabs like I would do and see if maybe 8 GB of RAM is enough.

Unless you're opening very large graphic files or run virtual machines that allocate large chunks of memory, 8GB will probably last through this machine's life. OS X is excellent at allocating memory where it needs to go.

Not too long ago, I counted how many Apple stores are within a 40 mile radius and I think we have 12 total. It is pretty insane.
There are 4 in my area...and they are all quite busy all the time! On weekends they are downright crowded!

If anyone in the Houston area is interested in one, i'm taking mine back to the Apple store. Nothing is wrong with it, just can't get used to the size (it's very slim for a 15, but it's no 13 macbook air). Let me know.

Ahhh I wish you were in Canada.... but you should consider trying to sell it online (craigslist or ebay), you could actually make a profit

Thanks but not really looking to make a profit, just want someone else to experience the awesomeness. and Canada is awesome btw

Just got off the horn with the Durham, NC store and they told me they have display models but that I shouldn't count on being able to buy one even if I'm the first one in the door. They did however tell me that within 72 hours they would have more than enough to meet everyone's needs. Raleigh, NC told me they are still awaiting their morning shipment but they are hopeful. I'm heading over there right now to see what happens.

I am waiting at the door in Tyson's corner, va. They told me they don't know if they have any, but that they may have some. We'll see in 45 minutes

Yeah, I have two in walking distance, maybe three if ambitious & another four 20 min away driving. The amazing thing is they are all always busy.

Let me know how you make out. I'm also in the RDU area. Thanks!

Jealous, a bit, of the people who can get to the stores at 10. Unfortunately some of us have to actually work for a living ;)

Heading to apple store saddle creek (memphis). They received their shipment yesterday and should have displays up today and also be able to purchase the machine

Charlotte, NC

I'm at the Northlake Mall location right now. I must admit the screen does look quite marvelous and little glare compared to the older versions.

They said they don't have any, but the manager told me they should get some today. I'll keep you updated if I get one today.

Glad I took the week off!

BTW, there isn't any lag for scrolling when scaled to their more or less space option.

It is called flex time :) Although I might be a bit too busy at work today, I initially asked my husband if he'd take time off work to go with me and he looked at me like I was crazy. He said if they have them, he'd go but he wouldn't go 'just to see'. Pfft.

Anyone hear anything in the Boston area? I've called a few stores and was told no stock but there are like 11 stores within 20 miles north or south of Boston and since it seems that some employees are giving out more info then others just figured I'd ask.
Also for those interested Amazon has them up for "preorder" not sure when they'll get them but again I'd bet its sooner than the 3-4 weeks Apple is up to. Also Prime eligible for those who that applies to. Personally I'm using the education discount and a large gift card so that limits me to the apple store. But thought I'd give the heads up in case anyone missed it.

Nothing in Dedham. Was frustrating as I was there yesterday, told they were in stock but being held until tomorrow for sale. They do have 6 on display though.
