My latest experience with International Plaza...

I call at 905 this morning. Guy answers and tells me"yes, we have several RMBP in stock and they will be for sale at 10". Jump in the car and head over. When I get there things get interesting. Store isn't open but has their Apple classes going on. Greeter ask me if I need help. Tell him I am waiting until 10 to purchase my RMBP. He immediately says " we don't have any". I let him know I called a few minutes ago and was told you did. He says let me check. He has the employee standing next to him call the back to see. He calls the back and than disappears for 5 minutes. He comes back and motions the greeter to come over (clearly so he would be out of earshot of me). At this point, its pretty clear i am not getting a RMBP. The greeter who inatially helped me than disappears to the back. He reappears 10 minutes later with Roy Abdo, the store manager. Roy introduces himself and says "we have none". When I ask why I was told differently 10 minutes ago he just repeats "we have none".....in fact, he never ever acknowledged that an employee from his store provided wrong info, never apologized or even seemed concerned with the "service" they provided. He kept repeating , like a trained parrott, "we have none"

Apple retail, especially International Plaza and manager Roy Abdo, are nothing but a sad joke. Well done Apple

In your place I would call apple customer care and let them know about the situation. Especially, if you have a managers name. Apple customer service and the buying experience is key selling point for them, and it does not seem that your experience would meet their corporate strategy. You may end up with a gift card or something...nothing to lose..

Wow!!! I am really disappointed to hear this again and again. Going there this afternoon. Will check for you again.

Called customer service, was told to go online to share my concerns...disappointing all around

Anybody know if any electronics store in Boston or 50 miles around it have any?
Checked Apple stores in Boston, nobody had them.

I find it interesting that the "store pick up" option now looks to be completely disabled on Apple's website. A few days ago you could mock up an order and attempt to check store stock via the website but no longer unless I'm doing something wrong.

Went to Waterloo (ON) apple store today and they had them on display. They were fast to tell me that they had none available for purchase. I best I got was a "sometime next week" for when they might get some in.

I stayed up till 5am when the keynote finished and the store came back online.
The moment it was back up the rmbp's were 3-4 week deliveries.
As of 5pm saturday not a single store within 30km of me so much as has a display model.
You'd think seeing as the charge us an additional $500USD australia punishment fee they would want to sell some here....

I knew i should have immidiatly ordered on the US store sent to a friend stateside and had him pass it to me.
Would have saved a few hundred dollars AND had it sooner... The first rmbp in australia.... I could have showed apple staff here what it looked like!

Hi there!
Just joined to let anyone interested know that there is one base model RMBP left at the Mooresville, NC Best Buy as of 2pm today.
I called this morning and was told they had two but of course when I went in everyone said they had never gotten them in. I just happened to go over to where the MacBooks were kept (the cages on the back wall) and saw the two RMBPs on top of all of the Airs, so I was able to get one of them.

There wasn't anyone else around asking about one, so I hope this will help someone find one!

Also, they would not give me the education discount (even though I printed out a receipt from the other thread to show them), but I did get the $150 gift card.

Hmmm...

So the best buy I went to did not have retina version for sale yet so I decided to grab the regular base 15 inch with full coverage for a year. It is a bit on the heavy side and I am planning to lug it around my uni.

They also told me I would have to go back to the store to receive the 150$ gift card and other than that, I did not get any other discounts which was a bit upsetting but I wasn't really anal about it and the guys working there dropped their jaws when I whipped out cash instead of card. Overall experience at BB was nice and since I have free time next saturday, I don't mind having to go there again. Unfortunately, even with the SKU provided, I guess it differs between states with the promotion releases.

I am not too upset I couldn't get a full retina display macbook but I just had to come out the store with something in my hands and I am really liking this 15 inch aside from the 2 pound overweight.

I will play around with it on the weekdays and decide whether I truly want this or not. It will be either this or the MBA 13 inch 1500$ upgrade model.

right now you can get a better "Apple customer service experience" at a Best Buy than at an Apple store!

Absolutely. It's sad, but true.

I understand that Apple Retail has no control over supplies, but they do have control over how they treat their customers.

I had a pretty bad experience last year over an iphone. I am a business customer and spend tons of $$ there and they still treated my like crap that day and it was the manager who did it. I called apple but they didn't care. He's gone now and things are much better but yeah, been there.

I had the same experience ! I called Apple to complain about Roy and Apple basically blew me off. Said to use the online complaint form.

Stock is so spotty they really should have just waited until Mountain Lion was done and ship then. Would have been better for everyone.

Best Buy on Concord Pike in DE

Hi everyone,

I was just at BestBuy (for the 3rd time this week...) and they finally had a retina Macbook Pro on display. It's amazing! It's so fast, the speakers are incredibly loud, and the display is to die for!

Anyway, I looked where they house all of their MacBooks and it looks like they have 2 Retina MacbookPros for sale! I'm not sure what configuration but I definitely saw 2 of the new RMBP boxes on the shelf.

So if anyone is in the Southern Philadelphia / Wilmington area, go to the Best Buy on Concord Pike! (It does not show up in their inventory online, but I don't think any do...)

I'm still trying to decide between the regular or retina macbook pro...

I was at the northshore mall apple store in Peabody MA today playing with a RMBP. I overheard an employee telling a customer "we don't have any here right now and won't be receiving any till sometime in July" I just shook my head. That can't be accurate he's probably just relaying the online wait to walkin customers.

On another note god is this thing beautiful. I have zero use for a laptop and need a high powered desktop ASAP but the retina screen on this thing made it very hard to stay strong on that. C'mon apple retina screens on everything! Unfortunately I don't think it's physically possible to see a 27" retina screen anytime soon unless the price balloons bigtime.

Why the hell does Peoria, IL have MBP with retina and a big city like DC not have a single freaking unit. This launch was botched. When you say something is ready for launch today, it should be in stores on that day or at least the next. None of the stores in the area have even received one unit for sale 5 days later

Well at least some more apps will be retina ready by the time the availability improves. It looks like the updated chrome app will be ready soon.

I was able to get mine in a DC area Best Buy (I got their only one). I called all of the Apple Stores several times and didn't get anywhere with them. They were rude, arrogant, and most importantly had no information.

Best Buy initially only gave me $100 off with the student discount. On finding out the error, I went back the next day and they made me whole by giving me another $100 off and $150 gift card. They let me use the gift card on the purchase, so I ended up paying $1850.

The computer is amazingly fast. I got the base model and can say it meets my needs and then some. I had a 4 year old iMac and like it a lot, but it was time to upgrade. The retina display is beautiful, correction, amazingly beautiful. Some apps need to have better rendering (Reader, Microsoft Office, etc), but we will get there. This computer is absolutely amazing. :D: :apple:
