Too bad Best Buy's website lists them as "Coming Soon".
 
I thought of ordering from MacMall online, but they didn't provide student discount with online orders..

MacMall also doesn't have any in stock. Called direct and their physical stores do, but warehouse does not.

I just know that quite a few times in this thread, when the find this item page said "Coming Soon" instead of "Unavailable," people were able to purchase one from those stores.

The guy a few posts above mentions that you can buy it online and pick up in store, which is obviously false. I'm sure stores are getting stock slowly, but his post is pure crap.
 
Picked one up this afternoon from the Kissimmee, FL Best Buy (at The Loop). Went to the Florida Mall Apple Store first, they said to just order it online (not very helpful). Went to the Best Buy there and they said they didn't have one, but the one at the Loop had three. Drove over there, walked in, asked, walked out with one. The cheaper retina model. Couldn't believe it was so simple.

The guy at BB Florida Mall showed me their computer screen that said they had 108 in the warehouse, so plenty on the way to those local FL stores.

Got lucky at the Apple Store

I have been trying Best Buy and the Apple store in Walnut Creek, CA for about a week. Was able to get the 2.6 version today at the Apple store. From the sound of things they got a fairly large shipment (2.3 and 2.6) in yesterday and had a few left when I got there at 11.

I have been comparing it to my 2.3 MPB all afternoon, Very very nice.

Geez... They didn't have any at Berkeley store.. Did they right away tell you that they had in stock?
 
I spoke to a friend who works at an Apple Store. She said they are receiveing RMBP shipments everyday now but only 4 -5 items per shipment
 
MacBook Pro Retina 2.6Ghz In Albuquerque

For those in Albuquerque area looking for Retina Macbook. Just purchased 2.6ghz MacBook Pro Retina 2.6Ghz at Uptown Apple Store. They had 8 available at 2pm today.

Can you please ask what's the best way to get one and if every Apple store get that many each day..

Because I was at our local Apple store at like 10:30 (opens at 10) and they did not have any :(

Hahah i don't know why but glad they do! Im enjoying this thing so much right now, great to go to a geek bench score on the base model of 11,000 compared to 3,500 from my 2.4 c2d 2007 macbook pro! :)

Even though i would have sprung $4000 for the ultra version if it was available Im glad i didn't and saved almost half of that as this machine is plenty powerful to last me many years before upgrading.
 
Got Lucky!!!

So got super lucky on Monday here in the midwest. Best Buys were all sold out around my area even the next town over (yeah not saying much talking midwest here but still it is Lincoln and Omaha). The only apple store with in miles of course sold out. I called all of them starting from bright and early. But the little software store/ authorized apple retailer I called around 9 luckily got 2 base models in stock and I was number 1. I gotta say I'm loving this thing, wish a 16gb would of been in but no complaints here. I'm not really a "power user" so 8gb will be just fine till hopefully the retina Air (fingers crossed).

I walked into the Fashion Valley Apple Store today a little before 10am and asked the greeter if they had any Retina MacBook Pros in stock, and he told me they received 6 of each model. I got really lucky.
 
Called my local Apple Store in Walden Galleria of Buffalo NY at 9:00am to see if they had any and they said they had an "extremely limited quantity." Drove out 30 minutes, and waited 30min to open, and FINALLY got my hands on one of these bad boys. :) Surprised that there was no one waiting in front of me. It turns out that they only had ONE of the base rMBP and no other rMBPs when I got there. Thank you to whoever posted that calling in 1 hour before opening is your best chance of getting one.
 
Anybody in Colorado want a base retina? I picked up a 512ssd figured I'd see if anyone wants this one before I return it to best buy... PM me
 
Used the Best Buy stock tracker and found a local store that said stock is "Coming Soon". Gave the store a call and they had 5 basic models in stock. I paid for it over the phone and its being held for me to pick up. They were super nice and helpful unlike the Boston area Apple stores.
 
I called the Apple Store in downtown Dallas (Knox Street) first thing this morning at 8am when they opened (as I have for the past four days with no luck) and to my surprise, I was told they did in fact receive a very limited shipment.

Needless to say, I hauled a$$ over to the store and came home with my Retina MacBook Pro :D
