It was far more difficult to capture the scratches on camera than I thought. This was the only one I could get to show up. Not sure how they came to be.

Thank you soo much for the picture. I hope this is a fluke or freak accident. Let's please keep each other updated because though I love this case, I have not forgotten what my old Incase did to my 3G.

For anybody that has the case, can you tell if the sides are tight enough where having a wrap of some sort would not be possible?

After reading this, I took mine off and took a look around and I found minor scratches right below the antennae right where it curves.

My slider arrived today and I have to say that I'm really on the fence about the case. What's good about it?
  • I really like the way it feels; the hard plastic has a very nice texture and it feels good in my hand.
  • I took some pictures in low light settings with the flash and the 'flash ring' seems to do its job.
  • Even though the case is a tight fit, I was able to put a vinyl wrap around the band so hopefully the case won't scratch the metal.
  • All of the cutouts are big enough they allow for easy access to the buttons.
What's bad or not so good?
  • The case is a really tight fit. Putting the case on is tough. Taking the case off is **** near impossible. Took me a good three or four minutes of fighting with case to get the phone out.
  • Because the case is such a tight fit it bubbles the screen protector like crazy. I have an SGP Oleo on the front and as you can see from the last pic, there are plenty of bubbles around the edges.
  • The bottom piece of the case doesn't seem to connect securely with the top piece (I've heard that with cases like the Seidio slider, you can hear the bottom snap into place with the top). It could be a good thing or a bad thing that the bottom is easy to take off but I'm inclined not to like it.

There is good reason to be a fan of the case and I like it. But there's something nagging at me making me think I should return it and try something else.

I really don't like the case. The main reason for that is that the case makes using the buttons like the power button a pain, you need extremely slim fingers to be able to press those buttons. And as people have mentioned it bubbles screen protectors. I sure hope my iskin solo is better. :(

The Solo fits quite well over a screen protector. I have the blue one on my phone with a screen protector and it fits right over it.

Back to the Incases, I love the red slider case, just can't spend more money on cases at the moment.

Just took mine off and sure enough there is a fine scratch about the same place as the previous poster. My camera sucks and its hard to get a pic of it. Trust me though. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CASES!

come one now..your phone will get scratched one way or another...Great case but not perfect. All cases have negatives but if you want less protection and keep your phone unscratched get a Pixelskin..

after a few days of use, i also have many fine scratches on the antenna band. :(

Yea, I see your point. Let's not forget the chrome bezel on the past iPhones. Couldn't breathe on those without them getting scratched. I guess it just ticks me off is all. You expect the case to protect, not damage.

I don't know how you guys are using your phone, but my previous experience with the incase slider was amazing! Like you said, it's almost impossible not to scratch the chrome bezel of the past iPhones. I did not receive ONE single scratch (or at least, noticeable to the eye) from the sliders. Because simply, I did not put it in my pockets.

Where would a normal guy put his phone? A holster or man bag?

Hum, well as usual the people with the negative experiences post the most. I like this case a lot. Feels great. Phone slides in and out nice and smooth. Bottom attaches on perfectly, and no bubbles to my SGP screen protector. Oh yeah, and no scratches yet from this case. (I did get a tiny one from the stupid bumper case.) Now granted, I do keep my phone in my Waterfield suede jacket a lot of the time in my pocket so dust/ dirt exposure is minimized more. But I don't always use it. By the way, the phone with the slider fits perfectly into the suede jacket made for the iphone4 with bumper. And a nice bonus is it cleans the phone case and screen off when sliding it in and out of the pouch. :)

I got my slider last weekend, and it bubbles my screen protector, its an SGP Crystal. I applied an re-applied it perfectly and it still bubbles. Now I noticed slight scratches along the edges of the metal band from this case. I am very disappointed in the Incase Slider. I am returning mine and I really liked the 3G/S version of the slider.

I decided to order the Agent 18 ClearShield after reading a review on here that it doesn't bubbles screen protectors. I've been looking for a slimmer option to my Defender (which I love BTW) because....Speck still hasn't shipped out my Candyshell replacement.

:confused::confused::confused::confused:

How did you get your pouch to fit over the Incase Slider!? I came from a Bumper/pouch setup and just recently switched to the Slider, but I couldn't get the phone even half way into the pouch with the new case on.

Anyway, I'm pleased with the Incase Slider. Yeah, I wish it had nice, fancy buttons like the Apple Bumper. And yes, dust builds up around the edges of the screen. But overall, it serves its purpose just fine.

To each his own and all that, but I just can't abide any of this constant hand-wringing over minuscule scratches and other minutiae. Don't get me wrong -- I take care of my beloved and hard earned possessions, but let's be serious here... If you just want a handsome, utilitarian case for carrying your phone out into the world, this one works just fine.

I'm glad you mentioned the Waterfield jacket because I had forgotten about that brand and was trying to find something similar. And if I remember correctly, the jacket is quite cheap so that's even more appealing. I do want to keep this slider so investing a little more to make the jacket/slider combo would be worth it.

I really like my slider... No scratches anywhere... I'm a tad nervous about having a naked screen though...

Did you get the regular fit jacket or the bumper fit jacket?

Ditto on that. I had to remove the Oleo I was using because the bubbles were just really distracting. I'm not completely comfortable using no screen protector but I'll figure a way around it somehow.

Yeah, I have the bumper fit jacket for the iphone4. It slides in and out perfectly. No problems at all. I have the one with the mesh pocket on the outside which is really nice as well if I wanna go light with a couple of credit cards and ID and no wallet.

As to the cost, yes it is pretty cheap, I think 14$ for the one with the outer pocket and 2$ to ship. Great deal!

Well, knowing that, I'm sold lol. Just put in an order for the bumper fit (no pocket). For $12 I'm happy

Question for Slider case users:

Does the bottom portion of your Slider case seem to slide off VERY easily when the iPhone 4 is NOT inside of it?

I received my Slider case earlier this week, but I don't actually have an iPhone 4 yet (I ordered it online and should get it later this month; I wanted to already have the case on-hand when the phone arrived). I love the look and feel of the Slider case, however it takes almost no effort at all for me to remove the bottom portion of the case (but again, I don't actually have the phone yet). Is this normal when the phone is NOT inside the case? It just seems quite easy for me to detach the bottom. Holding the case by the top and giving it a slight shake causes the bottom to fall right off.

I know this probably sounds a little silly, but for $40 I'd like to make sure that I don't have a defective case that I should get replaced before my iPhone 4 arrives.

It won't be that easy at all once you get the phone inside of there.

Purchase a protective film for your LCD screen. There's a variety of films out there. I personally like the Ultra Olelophobic for it's strong oil resistance.

When my phone isn't in the case the bottom is easy to separate from the top. I think it was probably designed that way because if you look at the plate that connects the two pieces, there aren't any grooves or whatnot that would make the pieces snap together.
