There are some things that look good with wear and tear, a worn pair of jeans, an aged piece of leather. But a $2200 aluminum MBP doesn't look good with scratches(not for a couple of year at least).

The case actually looks really good with the MBP, the smooth matte texture is excellent. Plus I feel safer handling my MBP with the grippy rubber case than the smooth aluminum.

Anyone know if you can purchase these in Australia (for 17" MBP)?

cheers.

Maybe at your new Sydney store? :)

If you're far from there, I'm guessing Apple may have it on their online store some time soon. It just hit stores very recently apparently (I picked up mine today in Atlanta), so I imagine it'll show up online soon. If it doesn't, maybe try contacting Incase? (www.goincase.com)

Can anyone provide feedback as to how a plastic case might interact with a Griffin Elevator or mStand?

As is the case with myself and most technology, I couldn't wait, so I ended up going out and buying a frost/white case this evening and answering my own question.

If anything, the new case sits better on top of my Griffin Elevator. The rubbery texture of the Incase hardshell creates a nice friction with the rubber pads on the Elevator, helping it stay pretty firm.

Hope this helps someone!

The frost is sexy ain't it.

It does hinder it a little, but not enough for me to notice it.

So I managed to get by the Apple store, and they had the black and frost in stock (no red, and definitely no purple) so I grabbed the frost. I'm impatient. Anyway. I snapped it on in what I believe is the correct fashion (logo towards the front), but it seems that I'm significantly hindered in regards to how wide I can open the screen. Yours appears to be at a much softer angle, while mine resides about 5 degrees shy of 90. :(

Now what? The darn thing isn't even open perfectly vertically when it sits on my elevator, which slopes downward at >15 degrees. Anyone else have this problem? OR, better yet, how did you get yours to open so much? Did you already shave it down?

This is as far back as I can get it:

This is going to sound extremely dumb (and forgive me), but have you tried applying little force to the monitor to push it back? I was able to get mine to bend a few degrees more with a little push (within reason, of course).

Also, sounds like you have the top part on right. The logo should be above where your right palm would sit.

I did. With even a minimal amount of pressure, the top shell begins to pull up from the screen and the tabs become tense. I can force it down, but it slowly slides back into this near vertical position. :/

I'm not quite sure what to tell you. I tested mine out to see if I had the same problem, but mine seems to stay in position:

I think I see what you mean with the tense tabs though. I don't want to force mine back too far - feels like it's unevenly distributing pressure through the tabs if I force it back too far.

Can anyone else provide some feedback? Maybe someone else has had the same angle problem?

I'm tempted to go switch it out at the store. It's almost as if it's just a little too slick to hold against the pressure...

This is how the case is supposed to work, it can't go back much further then 90. This is because when Apple made the MacBook Pro they didn't adopt it for case makers. The Genius Bar had said that was the only complaint. The Speck Case goes back a little further as I recall, but not much...

That's the same way mine looked with the frost cover and why I returned it. I had the logo on the lid next to the power connector. Funny how some seem to give a wider angle.

while not being as pretty as it was before the operation, I trimmed the back of my InCase case. The screen can now go more than 90 degrees.

Just installed mine, and had to reisntall it because of RAM issue. Looks good so far! Will post pics later.

Did you trim the top case all the way across, or the bottom case on the sides?

bottom case, only the back portions next to the vents. I sanded the cuts to avoid scratching my MBP. As I said, it doesn't look as good as before the "job", but it's more functional!

I'm looking to buy the 15'' Black In Case Hardshell but it doesn't seems to be available on their website... I've sent them an email on Monday asking for availability but they haven't get back to me yet... any ideas of where can I purchase it?

Your local Apple store will probably have it, but call ahead before going!

Edit: I say this b/c it seems to be where everyone is picking theirs up. I picked up my frost one at my local store in Atlanta, and I think I saw a black and plum one there too.

My local store had frost, black, and purple (i say purple, becuse its alot lighter then the plum color that was on the intrenet) i really wanted red and my friend at my apple store informed me that the apple stores wont get the red hard shell its "online" only, funny because the purple one is not avil. online? She also informed that she ordered the red case for her 15" MBP and it cost $65 shipped to her. The black case in store cost me roughly $52 and change with tax...fyi.

I wanted to snap some pictures last nite to add to this thread, but got a little tied up last nite, when i get home i will snap some pics and post them up...

And i will get those pics up asap:)

I was at my local Apple authorized reseller store thing or whatever it's called because we don't actually have an Apple Store here. The guy told me never to buy any cases involving plastic as it will make my Macbook Pro overheat and break very quickly. Is that a load of crap?
