so... I'm sad to say the incase is going back. I'm tired of constantly having this thing squeeze up (more vertical) after use, and its just more of a pain. Maybe if they release one that has a greater viewing angle, I'll try again.

My local Applestore in the Bullring had the cases in both black and frosted for the MBP. I picked up the frosted one today.

First thoughts: It's thicker than my Speck. The incase logo on the lid spoils the clean lines. It is a much snugger fit. I got the bottom to clip onto my MBP no problem, unlike the Speck. The lid is another story. Doesn't fit and removing it is no simple procedure. I probably need a spudger to ease it off the corners.

Build quality is only a little better than the Speck, despite the rave reviews. On the bottom cover next to the rubber foot on the front left side there was rather a sharp bit of burr where the clip moulding tailed off. This would definitely scratch the soft aluminium of the MBP. A bit of judicious filing averted that danger.

As others have stated, the thickness of the moulding prevents the screen from tilting back much more than 90 degrees. A lot less than even the Speck allowed. This may be a deal breaker for some.

I hope that grit and other detritus does not get under the shell because it really looks like a devil to remove once snapped on.

damn. that blows, as the main reason i purchased mine was for an upcoming two week trip, which at the conclusion of i was planning on removing the case. i hope it does more good than harm.

I think you may have received a defected case. I've got a Frost cover for my 17" MBP and it fits perfectly. I can tilt my screen well past 90 degrees...and both top and bottom pieces come off quite easily (takes some finagling...but nothing too drastic). Are you sure you installed the top in the right direction ? The Incase logo should be closest to the superdrive front corner of the laptop for proper installation (Figured this out the hard way....).

I'm very please with mine. Provides excellent protection, looks great and fits like a glove !

I got the Plum one for my Macbook. Just in case you were wondering, the Plum is really really purple. I thought it was going to be more of a blackish purple. I can put some pictures up if any one is interested.

My 2.4 Ghz is still in mint condition and not one scratch on her, always put in a case during travel.

Just treat it with care and use responsibility around it, dont keep open bottles or tea etc around it.

The cases add bulk and weight and really look nasty,

Any yes i also have the clear bra, 3m i think, on the front of all my cars and fenders. I wouldnt think about putting this on a 3k mbp

I got the Black one which under the right light has the deep deep purple that you see in the notcot review. So far I like it a lot, the loss of screen movement doesnt bother me too much. In order to use my computer lock i will have to open up the hole a little bit, it's about 3/8 of an inch and needs to be around 5/8 for the lock to sit flush with the computer. I probably wont do it right away as I can also just take the bottom case off if i want to lock it up.
I work with a guy who has the speck case, and as soon as he saw mine he was very jealous. The way the incase feels is just a lot more solid.

Overall I'm happy....also, I ordered off the Incase website i guess just before they went out of stock.

i just got mine today that i bought from a guy off ebay. great case i can tell, although i haven't even put it on yet.

My reasoning for purchase: the increased rigidity of the mac in the case is good for people who put in there backpack, as it prevents case flex from happening inside of bags that have books etc... If it was mainly at home or in office and not in and out of a bag, i would have not bought

Just applied the case. My thoughts to far: Viewing angle is definitely limited much more than would be desired ideally. Also, I am not sure how easy it would be to remove as already mentioned. Anyone have any tips and tricks for easy removal? Mine will stay on for as long as I can, but I want to know what people have to say about this.

I think the key to removal is to take it slowly, and not force anything. If you go slowly starting at one corner, and make sure the tabs aren't getting caught on anything, the other corners will be a lot easier to do; do this, rather than trying to get it all off in one swoop.

Thanks for the reply. So I would focus, on say, the top corner, for example and slowly push it out away from the lcd with my thumbnail? Or both corners of one side? After reading all the posts again just now i realize that I did not check for bad palstic that may have scratched my MBP.

I can't remember exactly how I approached it (I took mine off because I noticed a piece of dirt that needed cleaning). I think what I did was go after one corner, making sure that corner actually came off the case. Then as that one lifted off, it made the other corner on the same side (short-side) come off pretty easily.

Sorry it's not terribly easy to explain or understand in text-alone. If anyone else has any input, please help me (and ilifecomputer). :)

do these hard cases scratch the mbp at all? i have a hard case on an ipod that has really scratched it, and i've read that the speck cases have scratched up mbps? thanks!

aaarghh where is the blue one??? bin lookin at the u-suit & the ones over at macbook-case, but no blue ones, wtf? anyone seen any blue ones in apple stores (uk)? will travel!

failing that, will go black... but blue goes so well w/silver mbp. come on!!!

what i did was to go slowly with the top corner with like a credit card or some type of spludger. there's no way u can do it with a finger nail, not for me anyways. from there i would go down to the bottom with the cc to get it off. i only had to do it once cuz i put it on upside down the first time. haha
