when i find my dremel and the time to cut out the piece for my lock slot i might even think about cutting that section in the back so the hinge will go all the way back instead of just shaving it down. i really am only getting about maybe 95 degrees back.

I think even if you cut the slot out, the lock shaft itself might be too short.

so i haven't read over every page in this thread, but where if anywhere is it available online? is it only available in some physical stores currently?

It was supposed to become available on their official website at www.goincase.com by the end of May, however we're still waiting as they're still unavailable (black and white), they only have the red model....

I just checked their website again just to confirm and they don't even have the red model anymore... at least for the 15'' inches... mac book pro

I have had problems with my latest MBP with Speck cases. They just do not fit. The one I have is about as good as it gets, it clips on the right, but cannot reach over on the left where there is a gap between the clip and the side of the MBP.

You still have to clean these periodically and watch out for poor finishes on the Speck cases, or face the consequences.
I now have two scratches on my MBP - next to the sleeplight and on the hinge at the back, thanks to small bits of plastic spar jutting from the inside of the case, barely noticeable to the touch. Aluminium does not put up much resistance.

Waiting for Incase to distribute to the UK.

It appears to be the general consensus that these cases are available at most Apple stores (mostly U.S. though) - I think members in Costa Rica and Australia had some trouble finding it. Call your local store before you go!

From what I can tell in this thread, and my history of e-mailing Incase, they're not all that great about responding to questions. I had a question about another one of their products a few months back, and just never received responses to 2-3 different e-mails. Company makes amazing products - just hard to get a hold of.

I think some people have e-mailed Apple about placing the hardshell in the online store, but I don't know how that's gone so far either.

Getting a black one tonight from the London Apple Store... looking forward to it! will let you know how it goes...

Oh, and they only have black in stock in London, so I hope it looks as good as the frost one!

I just picked up a frost hardshell for my 15" MBP at my local Apple Store yesterday; I love the rubberized feel, and I can use my MBP on my lap without my lap burning. However, I noticed when I close my MBP, the tabs that keep the top case on, hit the tabs that keep the bottom case on, causing the corners to not be flush when closed. I noticed that my MBP did not close flush before, but I'm worried this might cause it to warp the lid or something.

Anyone else have this problem?

does dirt, lint and dust get stuck on it, and does the apple logo glow while in the black one?

that just means your top case is on upside down. that's what happened to me too. just rotate it around and put it on.

Does anyone know if you can you get the 17" MBP clear version in Apple stores?

I suppose it depends on your location. I was able to buy one at the Apple Store in Cambridge Mass. Fits like a glove....but it does impede upon the maximum opening angle of the lid. C'est la vie....:apple:

Thanks. I realized I was looking at photos of the Incase incorrectly. I thought that they were showing what it looks like when the MBP is closed with the front facing you, but then I noticed the Apple was facing the other direction, so I realized that the back was facing forward.

Anyone think the top part of the case is difficult to remove? The tabs kept getting stuck and I thought I was going to break the MBP's lid.

Black is installed and looks beautiful!

well happy

£40 tho, what a rip off. still, cant put a price on protection of my new 4 day old baby!

I didn't seen any posts regarding in-store availability of the 17" version so thought I'd ask. Appreciate the response. Not too thrilled with restricting screen angle. Then again, I'm not too thrilled with the dent on my lid either. :(

Thanks again for the response. I think I'll be calling my nearest store soon.

YES! The tabs get stuck right in between the millimeter-thin gap between the aluminum casing and plastic frame of the screen. I was applying so much pressure, that I thought when I powered my MBP back on, the screen would be completely f*ed :) Then I learned to have a little patience, and slowly work on each corner...much easier that way.

o man
Does this mean they won't be making a new design for the new Montevina MBP?

Where do you imply this information from? I'm pretty certain Incase will continue their trend of making great products for pretty much every product line that is out there (e.g. 3G iPhone cases are already "coming soon").

Currently Unavailable?!

This has been discussed at length throughout the thread. It looks like people (myself included) are having the best success by buying the case in-store. Incase seems to be rather difficult to get a hold of by e-mail, and there's still no sign of it in the online Apple store. Check your local Apple store.

Heads up!

It appears that there will be a fresh re-stocking of the cases on the incase website tomorrow morning! (June 26th). Check the site as soon as possible, the last ones sold out really quickly!

Heads-up! As of right now, it looks like they have the black in stock for the 15" - no reds or white/frost as of right now.
