babyjenniferLB: 20-40 bags a day?! How are you able to collect so many frostweave cloth?!?! Haha. But seriously, that's amazing. The most I sold one day, and it was really one day only, was 24 bags, each for a nice 85g each.

Basic farming my friend, well actually i hate farming so i started of with the matts to make 10 from raiding, heroics, getting the loremaster achievement. Sold them, bought the matts for 20 and sold them at a 30% profit and i just keep doing the same thing over and over making sure not to over saturate the market for bags.

So my profit is usually about 400g per batch, vs my profit per batch of firecracker salmon is usually about 1500g for 2 hours of fishing. From that i send a few 100g to each alt and use the rest for flasks and potions of wild magic.

p.s. Also it has always been required in many guilds to have maxed out professions that benefit you and the bests enchants and since it is so easy to do i see no reason why anyone in a high end, mid level, social guild or puger should not have the best or 2nd best enchants and certainly the best you can get from your professions as 375 to 435 is insanely easy.
At the end of the day it comes down to you making the most of what you have, even if it is a blue shove a good enchant on it and the next time a boss comes up that will replace that blue you will be able to take it on more efficiently.

is this fun for you? or does this feel like work haha b/c to me sounds kind of like busy work.. fishing for 2 hours? dang.. I guess I really am in the casual crowd for this game.

Kinda funny, this thread started before I quit playing, and now I've started again and it's still going. :p I was a hardcore raider in TBC (I would have been bored otherwirse!) but WotLK seems a lot more casual player friendly. I don't want to spend all my time raiding this time.

p.s. Questhelper is magic and how did I ever quest without it?

Welcome back! :) I too have switched over to Carbonite. It's handy.

Gold can be easy to get especially if you play lowbies, or farm lower level mats. Hell Runecloth was almost at 10g a stack.

Depending on timing, Mithril has been going for around 30g per stack on my server.

Wow is getting more exciting for me now we have Yogg-Saron hard mode on farm and are getting a good hang of the Algalon encounter.

Yogg-Saron hard mode- What's that?

Yogg-Saron hard mode- What's that?

You kill him without defeating any of the keepers so the fight is much much harder and drops better quality loot but there is 0 margin for error from any player and it is dreadfully healing intensive.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qG_qJNVNRM this is what the fight looks like with 1 of the keepers still alive so they have some protection but it is enough to get the protodrake achievement.

Ahhhh nice nice. Yeah I decided to finish questing in Icecrown to help go towards the Loremaster of Northrend achievement (for the Deathchill cloak pattern) and man, have I forgotten the good things that come out of questing, especially at level cap. Got myself tons of cloth, greens to DE into dust or essences, and good quest reward gold, and also the trash drops that sell pretty nicely. I should be working my way nicely to that dreaded 5000g for the epic flying, then getting my epic carpet, then hopefully continue questing/farming to keep a nice income.

What level do you need to make firecraker salmon? I'm at work, so most of the WoW sites are blocked. Sadly, it won't be long before they block macrumors on me. I had access to thottbot for a good few months, then one day, WEBSENSE HAS BLOCKED THIS WEBSITE.

Lately, I've been spending my time giong for the "Salty" title. LOL. Got the Titanium Seal of Dalaran and Giant Rat already, as well as some of the much easier fishing achievements. I've spent hours trying to get Old Ironjaw (sonuvagun has been running from me) for some reason and now I'm trying for the Sea Turtle. Waste of valuable time that could be spent questing for the goods, but I can't help it. Haha.

I believe firecracker is cooking 435. And best of luck on your "Salty" title i know a few that have close to full achievements as that is what they enjoy when not raiding, well with your game time what else do you do when there is only 1 worthwhile raid and it is a 4 hour clear.

Your definition of Yogg-Saron Hard Mode and you "farming" Yogg-Saron Hard Mode are internally inconsistent. 0-Keeper Yogg-Saron has only been killed by Stars and that was earlier this week.

Second, Yogg-Saron has varying degrees of difficulty with 0,1,2,3, or 4 keepers. The 1-Keeper version is all that's necessary for the GotUR achievement and the standard hard mode. Killing 0-Keeper just gets you the mount.

Gee, I don't know, maybe you do something other than play WoW.

I had believed for the achievement that 1 or less keepers was required though i have just not tired it with 2-3 keepers and we felt it is better learning in the deep end.
And mimirons head is hilarious.

I have not heard of the guild stars yet i will look them up are they a us or eu guild?
Looking up the guild ratings i have found 3 eu guilds and 1 us guild by the name of "Stars" non have defeated anything in ulduar yet.

As stated "with your game time" i.e the time you would normally set aside to socialise and raid in wow. Sorry if that was not made more clear.

See above for inconsistency.

Do you not read any of the major WoW news sites? Considering the PTR updates ongoing, I'd think anyone working on Algalon25 would keep up on MMO Champion or the like.

Stars is a Chinese guild playing on Taiwanese servers (as WoW China was a mess and is shutting down) that also got World 2nd Mimiron HM and World 3rd Algalon. WowProgress and the other ranking sites do not process non-EU/US guilds.

Why would you "set aside" time for WoW beyond raiding? It's a game, not a job. It seems that some people make it a lifestyle but I personally think that's a poor choice.

I raid in a guild ranked Top100 in EU/US but it doesn't mean I feel the need to stay in-game more than I want to for the sake of having fun.

No i don't really keep up with much of the news these days, as i said above i am getting quite happy into retiring to 10 mans. As for the PTR news i keep up with that on my guild forums but you know not all players are the same i don't live and breath this game, but i also play well.
I only really keep an eye on the eu servers and my guilds ranking there with guildprogress.com and i used to use wowjutsu till that site kinda died.
Mite take a look at MMO champion but i don't really think so, its just not my cup of tea, i play a mage mostly and warrior(tank only) for fun, so i don't go reading up on every class change expect when it effects my mage specifically.

i set aside 2 raid nights one for 25 and one for 10 man of about 5 hours each then a few hours on a sunday i have 5 hours set aside for fishing, heroics and what not else.
When it is a progress encounter it is expected for each member of the raid teams to be online for 80% of the raids so my time there has to be more involved with a full mon-sat raiding as your in a top 100 i would assume you guys do the same as us.
As for making the game a lifestyle, setting aside entertainment time is hardly lifestyle playing. I also set aside my thursday evening to watch a movie and my sunday mornings to go fishing.

Considering how much information is available about class changes on MMO Champion and the like and how little time it takes to read up on them, not keeping with them is the sign of a mediocre player.

I have a radar to sell you, just fyi.

The point is about your original statement about "what else would I do with my gametime" and how it's subtlely indicative of a critically flawed viewpoint. There is absolutely no need to spend "filler time" in WoW or any game. The fact that your temporal understanding is so fixed on the game is problematic.

Considering how much information is available about class changes on MMO Champion and the like and how little time it takes to read up on them, not keeping with them is the sign of a mediocre player.

And worrying about how another player spends their time in game as well as out of game and judging other players skill level based on keeping up with all Class changes is a sign of a player taking things way to serious.

And is there ever "filler time" in WoW? If there is for you, well sir, may you win many internets.

I guess you're right though, if I had "filler time" in WoW, I wouldn't log in at all. I'd probably reading up on major WoW news sites, just so I won't be a mediocre player.

EDIT - Sandman1969 does seem to have a point.....

I admit it; I get a kick out of telling criticizing people for their flaws.

Also, pretty sure the critique was about inconsistencies within the said story. Apologies if you missed the point. ;)

No, I don't spend filler timer in WoW actually. I raid and arena and log off if I can't do either.

What's with all the casuals rising up in arms? Just accept your mediocrity.

When do you then make gold for flasks and non guild repairs if all you do is arena or raid, log out.

Guild pays for repairs. Flasks and haste pots are cheap. Been spending gold I leeched from my alt's leveling.

Ah fair do's my guild pays for repairs to on 25 man raids but i run though flasks and wild magic and items for my pets and alts and even with dual spec i still have to pay 50g every time i want to pvp as some idiot mage worked out that you can dual spec frostfire and fire so you can swap for bosses that favour one spec over the other.
Well at least in ulduar i can sheep stuff i had grown rusty with all packs in heroics being aoe and naxx them being unsheepable.

I thought I read some where (misplaced) that wearing a Faction Tabard only gets you Faction Rep when running a dungeon as a L80? Or will you get rep if you are under L80, can anyone confirm? Thanks.

In WotLK, I believe you only get rep in heroics from a tabard (i.e. you need to be 80).

Note - You need honored rep with a faction to buy it's tabard.

Hi everyone, I'm going to get back into WoW soon and have a couple of questions. First off I have only dealt with macs for my own personal computers but my last one died on me over a year ago, and I've been biding my time till apple updated their iMacs. I wasn't too pleased with what they've done so I'm still without a computer (I use my iPhone at the moment which has been enough for the past year, but I'm tired of no flash). Anyhow, I have found someone that's going to build me a PC for gaming, specifically for WoW and Diablo III ( if it ever comes out). My question is what CPU Should I go for intel or AMD (I was told AMD is better for gaming but I'd like more insight). And what's a good Graphics card for these games as well ( I know we have no idea about Diablo III but I believe it's safe to say if I buy a graphics card this year it should handle it) should I go nvidia or ATI? I've heard ATI is better for gaming as well, can anyone confirm this? Anyone have any experience with nVidias 1GB sparkle card?
Thanks for the insight.

I haven't used an AMD in a while, but these Core2Duo processors seem to be awesome. I think you can get a Core2Quad on a PC desktop, so I would recommend that if you can afford it. You should probably check out IGN or PC World to find out about comparisons and tests. I really think you're good either way.

Video cards, again I'm not sure, but I bet if you get the GPU used in the top-end Macs, the 9600, you should be fine. My ATI x1600 struggled a bit with the Northrend zones, but it still ran them. Not bad for a computer not really tweaked for gaming, especially one two years old. Again, I'd consult those Web sites.

Thanks! I can verify that you also get rep (wearing a tabard) when you run a non-heroic. Well, let me clarify, we ran Utgard Pinnacle and I got rep with Wyrmrest which is the tabard I'm currently wearing.
