Thanks for the tip! I'll look into this. I had about 3400 gold before I purchased my flying mount. I wonder how time they take to effectively raise money on a daily basis?

Dailies are slow when you first start until you have done them a few times. After that, you know the best sequence to do the dailies you want and it goes quick.

Note - Get an epic flyer / epic flying skill as soon as you can. You will earn a lot more money / hour.

The WotLK expansion is the best WoW yet if you have a high enough character to play there.

I am (repeating myself some more) amazed that in the second expansion Blizzard continues to improve the game. The environments are better than the originals (although nothing can replace Teldressil, Dark Shore, Stranglethorn, and all the classic zones). Better graphics, general layout and questing content. More focus on 5 player dungeons is just what I wanted. I continue to love Grizzly Hills, although I'm just about finished there.

There is one other MMO that has/had as intriguing an environment and that was Saga of Ryzom (are they still open for business?), although I admit I never got out of the starter area so it was a limited view. Ryzom had what all MMOs should- animals that showed herding instinct and they reacted to your presence other than when they were going to attack. I still get irritated about WoW animals running on so apparant preset tracks through the forest.

Also, WoW is a surround sound game so it's good to play with things like good 5.1 - or more speakers. Base also adds to the gameplay. Many people neglect the sound system as an afterthough but often, it gives more to the experience than the graphics. Helps with emersion.

I do love the environmental sounds in that game...

Anyone tried to sell their accounts before? Or has anyone had experience with giving/selling account to a guild member?

And how does linking your account to battle.net mess this up?

Blizzard did a great job with WotLK sound. Ever since I stepped into Ulduar, I've been playing with my game sound and music all the way up. Everything from ambiance to boss dialogue is superb.

Since I decided to be a Tank, currently have 2- a 79 Pally and a 63 DK, I've been having a most wonderful time.

Here are two great links for those thinking about tanking:

Tank Talk- Do You Feel Lucky Punk?.

Protection Paladin Field Manual- at ElitistJerks.com, a must read. Check out the section on gear. You need 540 Defense Rating at L80 to function as a tank and the Gear Guide in this link is most handy.

Ding! Just hit 80 on my Palladin. Now what do I do? ;) Actually I am getting my Defense rating up to around 530, (currently am at 503) so I can be functional in heroic dungeons as a tank. I found the field guide link (in my previous post) to be very helpful for this purpose. It took me a while to figure out that faction quartermasters had stuff worth buying after you get the rep.

1) Get cold weather flying if you haven't all ready.
2) Get Argent Crusade, Ebon Blade, Wyrmrest, and Kirin Tor rep up to honored. Buy each faction's tabard from the quartermasters. Doing heroics while wearing a faction's tabard will give you lots of rep for that faction (Note - Figure out what rep equipment you need from which faction so you know which rep to get first).
3) Do lots of heroics. MMO-Champion has a good list of instance drops so you can see which heroics you want to do. I highly recommend heroic Violet Hold (under 30 minutes if you don't wipe)
4) Start doing winter grasp pvp for winter grasp marks (even if you hate pvp). Matches occur every 2.5 hours and last under 30 minutes (usual 15 minutes). A winter grasp quartermaster will redeem your marks for epic equipment.
5) Start the sons of Hodir pre-quest.
http://www.wow.com/2008/12/02/wrath-101-the-sons-of-hodir/
When you reach honored in sons of hodir, a bunch of dailies will open up and you can make lots of gold.
6) Once you get half way decent equipment, do a 10 OS and 10 VoA PuG raid once a week (very quick raids).
7) Many players use www.wow-heroes.com for equipment checks.

sigh lol stuff like this makes me a little weary. I started playing this game about a month ago and just hit lvl 40. I've learned so much in that time but that stuff above makes zero sense to me. The game is a ton of fun, but I'm afraid I have to invest tons of time into it just to be any good for end game stuff and raids or instances which I've found to be enjoyable.

Don't worry :). This was just a list of things you can do when you hit 80. People who are in bigger raiding guilds get their guilds to carry them through Naxx a few times to completely gear them out. You can gear out quickly at 80 and it's just a matter of how much of the game you want to experience. I myself find constant raiding very boring and like to experience all aspects of the game. Rather then having others gear me out and carry me through, I like the challenge of doing it myself.

Note - With just crafted equipment, you can easily do all instances (normal and heroic) at level 80. Gear is usually an issue in 10/25 raids and you can easily gear up for Naxx raiding as mentioned above. After the next patch, heroic instances will drop emblems of conquest and you will be able to turn them in for some of the best gear in the game.

That makes me feel a little better. Hey if you don't mind me asking for advice - I'm a Tauren Hunter and just hit lvl 40 to wear Mail. I am skinner and leatherworking profs but I dunno if leatherworking is good for me anymore. Hell I didn't really use it to gear myself up when I was wearing leather. Any idea of what other prof I should pick up. Skinning is nice b/c I can sell my leather at the AH. I do need gold though.. but wouldn't mind a prof that got me good gear or helped me out in better aspects. Thanks ahead of time =)

Leatherworking is the profession that makes leather and mail. It's kinda nice to have, but if you're just starting out, I usually recommend double gathering. If you're keen on keeping a primary profession (one that makes gear) then by all means, try to make gear from what you gather rather than pick up bits from the AH. You do not make money from low level crafted items on the AH (unless you have something rare).

**Low level gathering items will get you PAID because at level 80 you really CBF'd going out to areas to farm herbs and whatnot. You can sell a stack of peacebloom for 5g easy depending on your server. I know I spent heaps just to level enchanting.

PS: primary professions really shine at the end game, giving you nice profession only crafted gear.

I'm not too keen on keeping a crafting prof at the moment only b/c the gear I do make, it's not useful to me. It's usually weaker than what I have currently equipped from what I picked up through instances.

I am considering a 2nd gathering prof but I read that enchanting is sort of popular - from my auctioneer addon, they recommend me to disenchant a lot of my stuff before selling to get max profit. If you suggest a 2nd gathering prof, herbalism may be good since as a tauren I think I get a boost in that prof. I'll do some more research I suppose.

I'm new to WOW and as a mage I have chosen these two prof: tailoring and enchanting. Any suggestions on how I can make money out of them ? Until now I have just sold some bag and some disenchanted mat. Furthermore I think it's really difficult to level enchanting, last evening I barked on the trade channel for hours, offering low level enchantments for less than the cost of the mats, but to no avail.

Leveling is great because you always have a goal and you get new abilities etc as you level. Once you hit level 80, you have all your abilities but what are your goals now ? Players that try to rush and gear out for raiding find out that they become very bored after raiding for awhile and they usually end up quitting WoW or starting another character (i.e. hitting level 80 to just raid is generally a pretty poor goal). Even though the list of level 80 activities I posted above is long and time consuming, you will have a better time running your level 80 character.

Note - This is also one reason why I always recommend playing on a PvP server. Leveling up on a PvP server can be a pain but most people prefer running on a PvP server once they hit level 80. It is something else to prevent your level 80 character from getting stale.

As far as professions, your most important goal right now is getting gold and you don't want to spend money on crafting (save your money now and try not to spend any gold except when you level your character). Enchanting is a good money maker later on but it has one of the highest cost to level. For now, I would get someone in your guild (or trade channel) to de your boe items (be sure to tip whomever does it). I would choose from skinning, mining, or herbalism.

You can sell your tailor stuff and make money off it no problem. However I'm starting to think you can just harvest materials, cloth, metal, herbs, etc and make just as much because you'll find that sometimes the stuff you make does not sell or it sells for relatively little (in the auction house). But, every leveling person out there who is raising their skill level in for a craft will willingly buy your raw materials to accelerate their leveling. At least that is my impression. I might be incorrect, but my impression is that enchanting is a tough way to make dough. Eventually maybe you can, someone else might chime in on the subject.

More great advice! Thanks :)

For anyone who does not have a flying mount and you are into "gathering" a flying mount even a slow one is so much more efficient than riding a land based mount. In Northrend (WotLK), eventually you'll need a flying mount to do some of the quests. Which ones, I don't know.

Unless something drastically happens to me, like I become a real WoW addict :p, I don't think I'm gonna be raiding too much. I really do like the 5 player dungeons and am completely satisfied with brief encounters. I've seen the raid grind at work and being a dedicated raider does not appeal to me. However, that does not mean, I'll never do say a 10 man raid...

Depending on your class and spec it makes A LOT of difference how you equip yourself. I assume you know about that? I think the two classes with the most group pressure on them are Tank and Healer. If you want to approach the game very casually, just be a DPS (damage per second) spec in any of the classes. All groups need DPS and it's not like everyone is depending on you. You just run in and help the tank pound on stuff. ;) In contrast, everyone is depending on you as the Tank and Healer and both have very specific gear requirements so some research would be good, if you have not all ready done so. And Tanks for the most part are supposed to have knowledge about the bosses they are about to fight. This can be found all over. There are two Mac Rumor Guides, one on WoW and one on WoW Boss summaries that contain some info. The Boss Summaries Guide deals all most exclusively with WoTLK. Where are your interests?

You know what's the thing that struggles me most with WOW ? keybindings! I have been playing fro 3 weeks and can't find a setting I like. It would be great to be able to use the command key modifier, but it's not possible. Actually I'm using the alt+ number modifier but find it difficult to use. Wonder if someone can share/post some of his/her keybindings on Apple's keyboards. Or do you just click ?

When I'm playing at home on my older G5 tower, I use a Nostromo N52 (Mac compatible*) game pad. Program it like you want and it works great. What is really handy if you are a healer is the thumb pad. You can program 4 members of your group and select them quickly for healing. Check Amazon and ebay.

*N52s work on both Macs and PCs, you just need to have the right version of the software.

When I'm traveling with my laptop I just use basic keys along with a 5 button mouse. I make sure I have at least one button programmed for selecting myself (for heals, etc). In the WoW interface I selected to display all of the toolbars, 2 on bottom, 2 on the right side and program them with my spells/heals/even temp stuff used on specific quests. IMO nothing happens so fast in the game that you can't select them with your cursor.

I've found "follow" to be a handy command but it's not that vital, so I keep it on my key board. I also like "reverse view" (may be called something else), for when I'm running away and i want to see if the mob is still chasing me. ;)

Have you tried a healing addon yet. My preference is healbot although there are many out there. I can target someone and easily heal everyone without having to change the target. I can also assign different heals (or even buffs) to different mouse buttons (or combos like shift right click).

I use an extended keyboard and bind the 1-9,0,-,+ keys to the lower bottom left toolbar, the F1-F12 keys to the upper bottom left toolbar and the numeric keypad to the right right side toolbar. I click on anything in the left right side toolbar (put my less important stuff there).

You can set up you interface to automatically target you for beneficial spells if no friendly target is selected (i.e. you will heal yourself if nobody friendly is targeted).

Anyone have a good resource or suggestion for the best circle to do Dailys? I have the I've read you can make 200-300 gold per day but my impression is that it takes a lot of time...
