Got my 15" MBP 2 days ago, and honestly... It's not great. The 530 is really struggling with basic UI transitions. Actually very disappointed. On the flip side though, the 460 is great. Worse battery life though.

Oh god please no, I f**cking knew it. Choose between ****** batterylife or constant lag on a 3k euro machine what is this

How's reading larger PDFs?

Anyone know for sure if gfxCardStatus works on these new MBPs? I'd like to try just running iGPU only.

The 550 is one of the absolute best Igpu's on the market. The IRIS Pro is more than capable of handling most gaming on low settings, and even the most complicated of UI tasks on the Mac. But as others have said, the UI lag wasn't due to the iris pro, it was because of the software.

The MacBook 13 IGPU has a significantly better IGPU than the 15 inch, that's because the 15 has the dGPU.. only problem is, that dGPU will use 10~ watts all by itself. Enjoy your 4 hour battery life guys!

I think the initial list of numbers is incorrect. There is no way the 2015 13 has an iGpu that is better than the 2016 13. I think the 6100 you are talking about is possibly the one in the 21.5 iMac.

2016 15's iGPU is Intel HD 530, where as 2016' 13's iGPU is Iris Graphics 550.
2016 13's Iris Graphics 550 should nearly double the speed of 2016 15's iGPU.

And to put things in perspective, 2016 15's iGPU performs similarly to 2015 *13's iGPU (Iris 6100).

Conclusion: 2016 15' Macbook Pro's graphic performance would be awfully slow unless dGPU kicks in.
I am not sure what the implication might be in real life usage, but I think that 2016 15' MacBook Pro will end up using dGPU even more than 2015 15' MacBook Pro did.

See above. Not great honestly, some significant UI lag when activating Mission control. With about 10 windows open, the time between swiping and mission control is about 1-2 seconds. Absolutely terrible. Hoping this can be fixed with a software update, because even with the 530 this seems abnormal.

Just what I expected. Laggy UI would drive me insane, that's why I bought a 2015 model instead. It's totally unacceptable to have any kind of stutter on a 3k machine.

Would someone do us a big favour and do some reviews on it and show us some videos? Would be greatly appreciated to seee how it's like!

I'm not seeing any lag on the 15". I notice that if I open up 10 apps and then immediately go to mission control I see a slight lag, not 1-2 seconds, just a small stutter. But this happened on my previous MBP and my Mini. If I'm in a normal workflow, I haven't seen mission control lag at all.

I personally think this is an issue with the kernel for the touch bar, and not the gnu itself. The toucher kernel tasks are running at a high energy rate .5 / 1 watt based on how much you're doing on the mbp. If you have mail, safari, photos', iTunes, word, excel, etc, and then you start trying to move across things quickly, the kernel process for the touch bar is trying to keep up.. remember, it's changing dynamically as well, I think that's where the stutter comes from, and I'm almost 100% certain their will be an update Sierra in the next week or so to fix it.

Yes, but how do you explain another guy here who is experiencing stutter when watching youtube videos at 4k?

Do we have to handle with a reduced Battery Life then?
If the eGPU kicks in more often and for simpler tasks, I don't see the 10 Hours which are promised?

I think eGPU means external, given that thunderbolt 3 supports this. Otherwise he would say dGPU for discrete. I'm a little disappointed with the current selection of laptops overall at the moment. It seems like prices are trending back up as shipment volume goes through slow decline.

Theres a tradeoff though. The fans and heat on the 2015 model would drive me insane (assuming you got the model with the amd radeon)

Wait... I thought we are talking about iGPUs here.
But out of curiosity, does Pro 450-460 disipate less heat then m370x?

Yes, the new amd radeon cards are extremely efficient and cool/quiet. Much more than the m370x from the 2015 model
But you are not using the dedicated graphics 99% of the time. You do realize that the iGPU is used for majority of your daily tasks? In which case 2015 wins, because it will be dead quite and still have better performance than 2016.

Except the 2015 15 inch turns on the dgpu a lot. You'd be surprised how often it turns on, And you cant disable it either. its very frustrating

There have been temperature tests, and the new cards have a tdp of 35W compared to the m370x with 50w

Link to the temperature test when dGPU is used for both models? 35W vs 50W doesn't translate to external temperature on the body of the laptop. Maybe the thinner body makes heat dissipation worse.

Actually 2016 will be using dGPU more often than 2015, since 2016 iGPU is extremely underpowered.

That isn't necessarily how it works. Certain things trigger a switch. Certain applications will switch to discrete if available regardless of other factors. It doesn't matter if it's a benefit. It will also switch if you plug in an external display.
