Just got an UPS update. The phone is in Alaska now and will be delivered Friday tomorrow :D

I just spoke to call centre, so make of it what you will, but the guy confirmed that I won't receive my 4S today. He said Apple still fulfilled it's promise of shipping before the 14th which I said I agreed with, but I expressed my disappointment (calmly and rationally) and said that if I had have been aware that it would not be received launch day, I would have bought one somewhere else, ie: retail store. I listened to everything the guy said, did not raise my voice once, was pretty much a really nice guy about it... and he offered me $100 to say sorry!!! I tried to do it online because I'm better at written negotiations haha but did pretty well here I reckon!

I feel like I've been messed around too. And it REALLY did say delivers by the 14th when I was purchasing the iPhone. I might give them a call too. I'm just really unhappy that others will get theirs on the actual release date, and the loyal customers, who pre-ordered with Apple, have to wait. I feel like I've been ripped off so bad right now.

It's a difficult one... ie a catch-22... I am on an iPhone 3G at the moment, not even an S, so I can't even put iOS 5 on it, so that's how much I was looking forward to having it this weekend - but the bottom line is, there's nothing I can do about it, plus I'm $100 richer! ha. Give them a call and just be nice about it :)

At the end of the day, it's not the end of the world!
 
Ordered my 64GB white at roughly 12:00 P.M. central time on October 7th. Order is still processing.

"Ships in 1-2 weeks, Delivers 24 Oct - 31 Oct"

I'd sure be a happy camper if it decided to show up a little earlier than that. ;)

Hopefully the delivery date is incorrect and we can receive it tomorrow.
 
Mine's currently in Alaska, being shipped to Calgary (Canada), but it says it won't be delivered until Monday by 12:00 :/

Personally, I'm not expecting to see it anytime soon.

However, I'm also skeptical that ALL models of iPhone were sold out at the same time. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple has plenty of stock and is just looking to "make a splash". With a price tag of $850+ for the 64GB model, I can't see it being too popular, but hey, I guess you never know.

That's the one reason that makes me believe there's a possibility we may see it sooner rather than later.

I know it's not the end of the world, I mean we will most likely get it on Monday or Tuesday now. It's just that their products aren't just products anymore. Pre-ordering is like an experience now. You anticipate it, you get excited, and you have certain expectations. When your expectations aren't met, it ruins your whole experience. And I think Apple should have realised by now and taken into account the experience factor. I know they want to get some hype going over it, but delaying international orders just doesn't feel like fair play to me. My experience has been somewhat ruined now. I still love their products, but I definitely feel some negativity towards them, and will probably order differently in the future, based on this experience. I have had great customer service with them in the past, and have been kept up to date on all my orders. But one bad experience still makes a difference. It's something they can't take back, and will need to make an effort to regain customer satisfaction. It's not just a $20 purchase, when I give them $999 for a product, I do expect a certain level of service. Also, when it suddenly did say ships by the 14th, and not delivers by, I didn't actually expect they would ship on the 14th. I assumed 14th would be the latest, maybe for those who ordered a few hours later. I am definitely disappointed, but still excited.

I tried having a calm whinge session to the call centre but wasn't offered anything besides her 'keeping a personal eye on the order'. I didn't keep at it long though because my cuppa was getting cold.

Everyone who is unhappy with the way this pre-order has been handled should do exactly that, "have a calm whinge" to Apple. I am quite sure that if enough people express their discontent that they won't do things this way again.
 
I just called Apple and spoke to a lady there and was treated very well.
Firstly the call got disconnected, but she called me back within seconds and apologised for the disconnection. I explained to her that when I made the order it did say delivers by, and if I had known that it won't be delivered on the 14th I would have gone to a telco and bought it outright. I asked her when it would be shipped and she said it should arrive on Wednesday or Thursday the latest. And explained that it is being shipped from China. I told her that I'm very disappointed because I took the day off to be here when the package arrived. She apologised for the way that things have turned out but there is nothing she can do about the shipment and she can't expedite the order (I don't know why not). I asked if I could be reimbursed for my troubles and the misassumption and she said she will speak to her manager about what she can offer me, and when my item has been shipped and payment confirmed she will call me back and let me know how I will be reimbursed. So I have to wait until it's been shipped, and I assume I will get something like a bumper or a case or something. She didn't offer me, I did have to ask to be reimbursed, but she said I would be. And she even asked for my mobile just in case she can't contact me on my home phone.

I was very calm and just expressed my disappointment, I didn't get angry or raise my voice, and was treated very well. Like someone said, if you are annoyed that you didn't receive it today, then give Apple a call. If you explain you took the day off or something like that, and you are really disappointed, I'm sure they will offer you something. Might not be $100, but something is always better than nothing. I do feel a bit better now, but I'm still quite annoyed that I need to wait another 5 days, nearly a whole week! But I know I will get it soon.

Have you been able to track it via ups reference?
I just heard that due to the scarcity it may be a second batch of white 64gb.
I hope we receive it by the end of next week. :eek:
 
My UPS update has changed to Delivery to Monday now :(. It was tomorrow

It departed Alaska at 4:45pm
 
This is crazy. My friend said he is at the Vancouver Airport UPS station now, checking to see if he can pick up his order. He claims that the shipment that left alaska 2 hours ago is already in vancouver.

I am very skeptical.. Will see what he tells me in the next few minutes

ya..I don't really see why they can't be delivered by tomorrow when the shipment is already heading to vancouver two hours ago from Alaska. No custom clearance is needed and they'll get sorted overnight and be on truck for delivery by morning

Just got off the phone with 133 MAC(622), im not happy...... They were actually quite rude, and i wasn't even rude, i was just explaining myself, ridiculous, i have lost a lot of respect for Apple today. Never again.

They didn't offer anything to help, even when i asked (like you did) she basically just wanted to hang up ASAP. Unbelievable.
