I freaking hate carrier version discussions they are literally the most non essential posts ever. 0 value
Except when they, you know, can actually play a role. Like when some feature gets enabled with them like VoLTE support or WiFi calling support or perhaps something related to voicemail. Recently it seems like T-Mobile was having some issues related to IPv6 support where carrier settings played a role. And earlier on in iOS 10 there were some issues with a few carriers related to different things that also needed carrier updates to get resolved. For all those that were affected it sure sounds like carrier settings discussions were "literally non essential".

My Air 2 is faster on this build. iPad Pro is still as fast as the day I got it. iPhone 6 still runs like crap. Haven't tried out on my iPhone 7 Plus yet

has the iPad Air2 Orientation Lock Bug been fixed too?

What device are you using? And in what areas is it smoother besides the app switcher?
I could say everywhere, but I still sometimes notice a slight lag. Yesterday when I switched between pages and opened a folder, for example. The lag occurred for at least a few seconds. But I'm pretty sure there's must've been a good reason for that. I'd say iOS 10.3 is ready to be released, but if Apple manages to fix even more bugs and other issues one last beta could be the one.

I myself am very satisfied with beta 5. It's definitely good enough. Software always needs work, no matter how many bugs and issues are fixed. But for most people it's perfect I think. ;)

then 10.3 seems to get the release 10.x was meant to be :)
The iPad Air2 Orientation Lock Bug has been there since 10.0
Yea, it's absurd really that there are problems with such an essential functionality in 10th(!) major version of the OS.

Hi Guys, trying to install the public beta but it just sits on verifying update. Does it take a while with this release or is something amiss?

Beta 1,2,3,4: Battery 100% to 99%, gave 30/32 minutes of SOT.
Beta 5: 28 minutes.
In this beta it seems that it is consuming more battery.

The difference is too small to conclude because SOT can vary depending on the activity.

I do this test since ios 10.1 on iPhone 7.
Usage is always similar (browsing websites in Safari), and never given less than 30 minutes.

Holy!!!!! Ok, when you are leaving an application the animation is SOOOO much faster.
This is on iPhone 7 Plus (Unlocked, using it on T-Mobile) 128GB Matte Black.

Edit: The animation to the taskbar (task manager) is also different, different as in better.

English not native, sorry

Pretty much. Most of us are installing this software on a cell phone after all, and cellular connectivity is one of the most important features of a cellphone, so radio firmware and carrier settings are right up there in terms of importance.

My big gripe with carrier settings is the great difficulty in figuring out what they're changing. Neither Apple nor the carriers are very transparent about that. I'd like to see it, even if it takes an network engineer to understand it.

Pretty small thing I guess, but the animation when opening the app switcher is not cut off anymore. Previously it wouldn't animate correctly, but it has been fixed in beta 5. Overall it feels very, very smooth. Hope Apple can keep up this trend, but I keep saying that with every major iOS release. With iOS 11 we're gonna start all over again, and iOS 11.3 will be perfect. :p
Yes its been like this the past several releases. The 7 Plus at launch compared to now on 10.3 is like a different phone smoothness and speed wise.

Was pretty useful for me when my. Rework finally allowed wifi calling under this beta. Pretty essential information for some. Feel free to skip these messages and read what's relevant to you.
[doublepost=1489074482][/doublepost]There is still a problem with spotlight where is still occasionally fails to find apps.

Are you guys still getting the thing where the Weather app is blank when you open it? Happens to me about once every 15 times or so. It's happened since iOS10 first launched.

I'm not noticing a difference in animations since beta 3. The app close animation is still fixed and smooth so is scrolling through the multitasking app cards.

When force touching an app icon the animation is often abit choppy still for when it opens and closes. And there is still a weird bounce animation after double pressing the home button to bring up multitasking while in an app but this seems to vary depending on the app. It doesn't happen from the home screen. Using iPhone 7.

I updated to see if I could finally see notifications while I was on an active call...... was unable to test due to what seems to be a new bug:

Pressing the Lock/Power button ends an active call -- no matter if you are on the call screen, or at the home screen.

Just reproduced this. Yep! Wow, kinda rare to see such a substantial new bug this far into the beta cycle.

EDIT: Interesting. Lock/Power button doesn't end the call if you have it on speaker or headset. Only when using the earpiece.

EDIT AGAIN: Maybe this isn't a bug. When you're on a phone call with the earpiece, what reason would you have to press lock/power? You'd only want to press that to turn off the screen if you're on headset or speaker... So perhaps Apple added this as a way to quickly hang up a call if you're using the earpiece. Not the most intuitive thing in the world, but.. you never know!

[doublepost=1489013785][/doublepost]This is what iOS 10 was supposed to be. My iPhone 6S is super smooth and my iPad Air feels like new again!

How about scrolling and fast scrolling long articles or lists (in Safari or Messages)? Are there stutters or white loading pauses or is it really smooth again? This has been really bad on all 10.x releases (unusable on iPad Air) compared to 9.3, and I'd really like to see Apple improve this.

Has anyone else had their iCloud Backup mysteriously get turned on after turning it off to run the beta?

I was annoyed to find it on today; I turned it off when I upgraded to the beta because I wanted to keep at least one pre-beta backup handy in case I have to revert. Thankfully I haven't had to revert, because now I can't since I no longer have a backup from before I upgraded!

I guess from now on I'm going to do an iTunes backup before I run betas since I can't trust iCloud Backup to stay turned off.
