Ah gotcha. Thanks!!!! There needs to be something that is disruptive like the original iPhone was. I don't see it in the next set of rumoured devices.Sorry. I meant that what you said about Blackberry reminded me about that. Not that there is anything compelling enough to make it obsolete.
iPhone 7 will still he biggest selling phone of the year even if they don't include a headphone jack.... And imo I don't think they will be none to bothered if a few thousand people don't buy them if it's not included...
It will be ''the best iPhone yet''. Tim Cook will tell us that in SeptemberWhat new and great features do you think the 7 will have to make it "the biggest selling phone".
I just like to use that GIF whenever possible.Ha, I didn't even notice that I did that. I'll go back and change it XD

My wild guess is that the Home Button will disappear, and be replaced by a display that has integrated TouchID. Existing 3D Touch and Taptic Engine can be used to simulate a Home press.
The big advantages would be same or larger displays in a smaller phone. Also, having the display able to read a fingerprint would allow apps to be opened only by specific fingerprint.
Improved water resistance and damage resistance are other things I'd like to see. iPhone as a product is fairly mature but there is still much room for improvement. Let's not forget battery life…
I'd love to see this in the next iPhone. Getting rid of the home button would be the most radical design change Apple has made in the history of the iPhone and would pave the way for smaller bezels and fingerprint scanners in the display. Maybe getting rid of the home button would allow them to add front facing speakers! That would be awesome!
Why don't you like front facing speakers? They add a lot to the user experience, especially when watching videos and movies.Get rid of bezels and replace them with front facing speakers? No thanks!

The speakers in my Mac are 4" x 1" and they sound like trash. IMO headphones are the only way to get decent audio from the phone. The front facing speakers would be as big of a waste of space as the bezels.
Perhaps the fact that I've been using Macs and virtually almost every other Apple product for decades has me jaded due to the noticeable decline in quality over the last few years. Sadly my confidence has been rattled and I no longer trust them to deliver the experience they used to be so good at providing. Not only am I sceptical about iPhone 7, but the next major version of iOS as well.Eventhough I do not think the iPhone 7 will be that much a revolution, iOS10 may very well bring some surprises. iOS 9 has mostly been a stability upgrade to iOS8, so there is hope iOS 10 will bring a few fresh ideas.
I do a lot of headphone listening as well, but when I'm home, I sometimes like to play music through the speakers or watch videos without headphones, and the front speakers provide a great media experience for those times. I don't know if I could give those up!
Also, front speakers don't really waste space as bezels. Take a look at the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition or the Nexus 6. Both of those phones have small bezels and a great pair of front facing speakers.

I know Apple is capable... But WILL they perform?
Excellent Post, Well Said!I really hope that Apple does perform well in 2016. 2015 was Apple's "Beta" Year, in which they released (IMO) a lot of unfinished and unpolished products (minus the iPhone). My trust was shaken in Apple to make killer products and great software. I still do like Apple, but 2015 was disappointing. I have very high hopes and expectations for 2016, and if Apple misses those, I may completely lose trust in them. This upcoming March event will really set the tone for the rest of the year, so let's hope that Apple hits it out of the park and continues with the momentum through 2016 and beyond.
There has to be some game changers if AAPL expects people to upgrade iPhonesApple seems to be on an unfortunate minor downward spiral that is rare for the modern version of the company. iPhone sales growth is slowing, Apple Watch sale predictions are down, and the company has released many products in 2015 that seem to not have been ready for the public at the time of release.
With iPhone 7 and iOS 10 specifically, Apple has a chance to redeem itself and change the game. I think the company needs to push itself to create the most major iOS upgrade in a long time as iOS 10 can be a great milestone.
Apple needs to stun in 2016, and the new versions of iOS and the iPhone are going to be two of the biggest factors in determining the company's future trajectory.

It's a bunch of interesting spin on a company that has one fifty billion in the bank. They post a record profit yet are in a 'unfortunate minor downward spiral.'
what?
Whats left to go on phones that could be a game changer and more importantly useful? When smartphones first came along it was easy to launch a new one with loads of new features we didnt realise we needed on a phone until they gave them to us but now short of someone finally cracking a better battery\power option for days\weeks with charging is there anything you stop and think "i wish my phone did this!!".There has to be some game changers if AAPL expects people to upgrade iPhones
Question is does Appl know what to do
Time will tell
They could really pull an Apple if they jumped straight to resonant wireless charging and dumped the charging pad necessity. Game changer indeed.2. Wireless charging - Apple is playing catchup, so even if they do that, they're the last major maker to do this
