Meh. I'm not invested in the company's future relative to their market position. I'm not becoming involved in a company the way I became involved in BlackBerry, where I actually bought stock. Lost cash that I'll never see again. My own idiocy.
All I care about is when is the next iPhone going to be released. This us because it's the best platform for me.
Is apple in a decline? Will it ever decline? Irrelevant to me, I'm never making the mistake of becoming emotionally attached to a company I don't own.
Give my my next iPhone....don't care about game changers.
Heeeeeeeeeey, weren't you over at Crackberry for the longest time? Your name's familiar.

Yup. I was. For seven years and over 20,000 posts.
Then I had a group of thugs insulting me, stalking me, and harassing me, and when I defended myself I was informed I was no longer welcome. Seems having an open mind to all platforms doesn't go well with BlackBerry Kool-Aid drinkers.

Edit: actually I wasn't informed. I was zapped.

Aw that sucks. I was really active when I was trying to decide on a new phone coming from WebOS, and I really was digging Blackberry ten. Then I was miffed when they didn't release the Z10 for Sprint, and then sold the Q10 for $200 on contract... It was an easy decision when iOS 7 was released and I could get the 5c for $100 on contract. My wifey wanted an iPhone before I did, so I got one too so we could facetime.

The keyboard on iOS bugs the crap out of me. :p

You know, I think the thugs were just freaking out that Blackberry was dying :D

Really???? Why? I love mine. I just flip up the little bar thingie and the predictions are perfect.

The bars things are nice, true. I actually tap too fast for them to be really useful (most of the time). DEFINITELY helpful for one-handed typing though!

It's actually the tap space on iOS keyboards that bug me. I guess the best way to describe it is that I can typically "point" with my finger to a key and get the right key, but with iOS I have to place my entire thumb over the key for it to register the right key. (I've been told that iOS was designed this way so that when typing with one hand it is very accurate, and the sides of the keyboard are skewed a bit to help when reaching across the keyboard with your thumb.)

PC and cellphone sales have reached saturation mode and are running in replacement markets now. This is common knowledge in the semiconductor industry. Apple will continue us to do very well, however growth in unit sales is unlikely to match prior years.

Apple seems to be on an unfortunate minor downward spiral that is rare for the modern version of the company. iPhone sales growth is slowing, Apple Watch sale predictions are down, and the company has released many products in 2015 that seem to not have been ready for the public at the time of release.

With iPhone 7 and iOS 10 specifically, Apple has a chance to redeem itself and change the game. I think the company needs to push itself to create the most major iOS upgrade in a long time as iOS 10 can be a great milestone.

Apple needs to stun in 2016, and the new versions of iOS and the iPhone are going to be two of the biggest factors in determining the company's future trajectory.

Really, they need to stun? Hard pressed to see anyone stunning us with new phone. Incremental improvements yes. But don't foresee anything hugely different. Whoa is Apple if they had to limp along selling 75,000,000 phones a year.

Only China and India are really large markets not yet saturated. And they are poised for an economic leveling. US and European markets are fairly mature. Everyone has a phone or two or three already. So we are entering replacement market territory.

Not owning stock in Apple, have no vested interest, if sales stabilize over next few years. I don't see myself replacing my current phone with anything other than iPhone so if Apple does not set records doesn't effect me. Apple's cash flow is so healthy, and the capital they have on hand is so huge compared to other companies they are like a country.

Short of a major breakthrough in battery energy density I don't see any showstopper type improvements. And that would be basic chemistry, and not Apple or any other company proprietory item. Frankly I'm surprised at the sales of all phones as by now most everyone has a phone. At some point this will level off, that's just normal product life span.

Oh see I never type one handed. Always two handed. Guess from my BlackBerry days. The SGS5 I had, on the other hand, was absolutely vile for me to type on. Hated it.

I use the stock keyboard by the way.

(And yeah...the thugs were in fact terrified. And couldn't handle a little lady standing up to them instead of sitting around barefoot in the kitchen and leaving the men alone to talk about important stuff like how BlackBerry was the saviour of the universe.)

It's actually not possible. That kind of growth is not sustainable. If it continued, babies would be born with an iPhone in their hand.

Two handed is preferred, I agree.

And you hate the SGS5 keyboard, while I actually think it's typing is more enjoyable :D Funny

But, I will say that I type quite well on the iPhone 6 4.7" size, so perhaps it's just the 4" that gives me issues.

• wireless charging--Will have to happen if ear buds are connected through the Lightening port.
• fast charging--Needs to happen
• smaller bezels--Equals smaller battery. I'd prefer to keep the bezels.
• higher res screen--Would love 2K AMOLED
• live wallpapers--very few people care enough to justify reduction in battery life
• 32GB storage--needs to happen
• Customizable control center
• Proactive actually be useful
• widgets/animated icons--very few people care enough to justify reduction in battery life

I agree with this, even though Apple has posted yet another record quarter. Maybe iOS 10 will be a huge overhaul like OS X was back in the day. The iPhone 7 does really need to knock the ball out of the park since there are fewer and fewer reasons to upgrade every year and the cost of phones is no longer hidden in the $200 price tag.

EDIT: Changed 'less and less' to 'fewer and fewer' based on a grammatical correction :D

iOS 11 will probably be the biggest update we see in a while. BY that point, the majority of iOS devices in use will have 2GB Ram or more, allowing for options not currently available on 1GB devices.

The next super bowl needs to be a game changer. Not just the same old game, same old rules.

Not a perfect analogy, but I don't subscribe to the belief that an unpredictable revolution is required every few years to remain relevant.

But that will work for a few Super Bowls and then people will tolerate it for a few more and then the whole thing and NFL itself will just be doomed. ;)

They post a record profit yet are in a 'unfortunate minor downward spiral.'

what?

That was my reaction to the AAPL stock still tumbling, but based on stock performance Apple is trending downwards.

The 2015 undercooked products didn't help.

Tim Cook should be able to release fully-cooked products.

The stock often doesn't follow the actual news in a rational manner. Nothing really new and not really much of an indicator of anything one way or another.

I think that 2015 was the most weak year in a long time for Apple. It had a bunch of half-baked products with a lack of focus. I have my fingers crossed for 2016 though, hopefully they'll turn it around and get their focus back.

Is that why they are having record financial results?

The reason they are making so much is because of their insanely strong brand power. Almost everyone can attest to that. Also, just because they are selling a boatload of stuff doesn't mean they have focus in the new products. A lot of the products are, in my opinion, half baked and not necessarily ready for the consumer. Apple isn't doing badly but I do think that they need more focus.

I agree there's definitely room for improvement and in some cases to even get back to the levels that some things used to be at. At the same time, while branding is powerful of course and plays a big role, that doesn't really just work on its own (think of other powerful brands that weren't or aren't setting records time after time, even at the top of their popularity).

I really hope that Apple does perform well in 2016. 2015 was Apple's "Beta" Year, in which they released (IMO) a lot of unfinished and unpolished products (minus the iPhone). My trust was shaken in Apple to make killer products and great software. I still do like Apple, but 2015 was disappointing. I have very high hopes and expectations for 2016, and if Apple misses those, I may completely lose trust in them. This upcoming March event will really set the tone for the rest of the year, so let's hope that Apple hits it out of the park and continues with the momentum through 2016 and beyond.
Set your expectations low and you won't be disappointed :D

They should make the wifi button on the control center with 3D Touch to pick a network you want to join. That way you won't have to go into settings, wifi, then picking one. Just a thought.
