Wouldn't anything else be pretty sad?
Always funny when they say it's their best iPhone yet aswell.
But yes, 10 has been one of the best versions regarding performance. In the past some iOS versions trashed performance of older devices, 10 seems to do well in this regard.
It's more of an Apple thing I do

kind of like when I say
"iPhone 7 is the best iPhone that's ever been made, but not only it the best iPhone that's ever been made, it's the best smartphone that's ever been made"

Not only is that true, but isn't it kind of obvious? What else would they say "iPhone 7 is the 2nd best phone we've ever made! Personally, we think iPhone 4S was better, so i7 isn't our best one yet"

lol

Also, iOS is the world's most advanced mobile operating system:)

And I still wish I could go back to iOS 6. I keep hoping some update will remove the lag and fix the music app's bugs, but it keeps getting worse. I keep hoping Android will stop being garbage so I can switch, but it doesn't happen.

Still running iOS 6 on all of my iOS devices. One thing Apple is never going to take from me.

We get Free upgrades all the time.
I miss when software wasn't free. Companies were less inclined to bug you about upgrades and seem to have felt compelled to release a decent, stable product with meaningful changes on a less frequent basis. I preferred everything about that model.

Good for you
I never miss an excuse to post an iOS 6 screenshot every time there's an "iOS x now installed on x% of devices" post.

Wouldn't they be more inclined to bug you about upgrades so that you would spend more money with them on those upgrades?

I don't understand why Apple doesn't sign restores for any supported version of iOS on devices that don't receive updates anymore, like the iPhone 4. There isn't a single good reason for them to enforce this when those devices don't receive security updates anymore.

You would think, but at least with Apple, that never seemed to be the case.

Hard to be impressed when your device tricks you into upgrading through random popup reminders.

It's happened before whilst I was playing a game that requires key presses in the exact same space.
??????????????????????
I am using it...and when I opened Safari today...and googled ebay...it brought me right to Petco.com
Wow...do I just love my iPhony.

Isn't there something else you have to do? I've accidentally hit it many times, but it always asks for my passcode, so I just hit cancel.

Actually, I think it gave up at some point because I stopped getting any notifications, plus the manual update said I was already up to date. I had to download the IPSW and force install it through iTunes.

Curious (we'll never know) what the percentage of eligible devices is - pull out the iPhone 4s, iPad 3, iPod 5th gen, etc. and earlier that won't run iOS 10. That has to represent at least some small percentage of iOS devices in use.

Woah there buddy ..

How is IOS more advanced than Windows 10 Mobile (with Continuum)

This is a horrible assumption. I have an iPhone 6S Plus. By all intents and purposes it should run 10.2 without any issues. Yet it lags in everything I do. Typing text should be be any lag.

I upgrade my iPhone about once every 3-4 years, this is more feasible than every 2, especially with cell companies basically raping people now with their lease plans.
It shouldn't lag on an 6S Plus. I've got it running fine on an SE. The very first version of IOS 10 was a pain in the rear but the current version is doing okay.

Second its a major pain in the ass and a complete hit or miss if an app on the IPhone will play anything other than M4v, movs, and mp4s. Congratulations on using a big word like incompetent, I am sure your mommy and daddy will be very proud.

It's neither hit and miss nor a pain in the ass if you're using the right app.
Try VLC or Infuse, never had any problems with those.

I honestly feel like they make it run slower on the previous gen devices.
While I sympathize, I'll never quite understand this point of view. Since each OS update is usually released together with new hardware with advertised processor and (sometimes) memory upgrades, why would you expect older hardware to perform at the same level as new? A good rule of thumb is to hold off upgrading until you have had an opportunity to see what others who have upgraded are saying.

Also that you can't downgrade. So if something goes wrong and you have to restore, you have no choice but to use the latest iOS

Always wondered why the iOS core apps were not dynamically linked, and delivered separately, from the iOS kernel.

Your explanation of Google's independent app binding makes perfect sense (where each core app has a version of its own).

Yes, he did a good job of explaining the difference. iOS updates are totally different animals from the decentralized Android updates.

Also, Android app SDKs provide libraries which give compatible APIs so that even later apps can work on older devices... while iOS updates often leave older devices behind (planned obsolescence?).

Thus the Android OS version is not near as important as an iOS version number is.

Heck, I have nearly seven year old Android devices which (last I checked last year) were able to download and run the latest Google Maps etc.

Another point that's difficult for some to comprehend, is that when they say a new Android version is "released", that's just the source code, and that requires further testing and optimization by each phone maker... just as internally Apple does the same thing. So the date of "release" being months or even a year or more ago, doesn't mean what some people think.

I wonder why Apple continues to wrap strong-bound core apps to their kernel. Apple's method would be equivalent to having macOS core apps (Mail, Safari, Photos, ...) wrapped with the macOS binary -- and, of course, those apps are not.

One probable reason why Apple doesn't allow downloading apps separately from the App Store, is because the download counters would give away a lot of info.

Imagine if the Apple Watch app hadn't been part of an iOS update, but had to be downloaded from the Apple App Store. It would've been much easier for observers to note about how many Watches were being sold each quarter!

I have a couple of old iPads that can't be updated to iOS 10.
...and you should be thankful for that. The first and second generation iPads wouldn't have a prayer of a decent user experience on iOS 10 due to hardware insufficiency.

I held off commenting on your first post about iOS 10 lagging on your 6S Plus, but you either need to restore and set up as new, or have your phone checked out by AppleCare or a Genius. I have the 6S Plus also and it performed excellent on iOS 10.2.1 and even FASTER on Beta 10.3.
