Currently updating my 6. Went through the update process. Took about 10 minutes. Blank screen for 10 seconds. Started over. Hoping this works...

Happened on my iPhone SE 64 GB (Verizon) and was able to fix it via iTunes restore within 15 minutes. My 128 GB iPad Air 2 (wifi) did not experience the brick breaker effect

I know the OTA option is available, but why would you try it knowing the risk and knowing that a better option is available? Also, I sure hope all of you are backing up your devices before trying to install..

Step 1: Plug in device
Step 2: Back up to iTunes
Step 3: While still connected to iTunes, check for updates
Step 4: Install

I've always done OTA updates since they became available, and never had any issues. But I'm still running an iPhone 4, so it's been a while since I've applied any major updates. ;) An iPad 3 that I maintain has always had flawless updates, too.

The new iOS 10 update, released today, appears to be causing problems for some iPad and iPhone owners who are installing it over-the-air. On the MacRumors forums, we're seeing multiple reports from users who have attempted to install iOS 10 and have had their devices put into recovery mode, requiring a restore.

It does not seem to be limited to a single device, but most reports from iPad owners are coming from those who have the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which has had trouble with new software releases in the past. Multiple iPhone models also appear to be affected. From MacRumors forum member bit_bucket: Users who have their iOS 10 devices bricked by the update will need to do an iTunes restore, which will erase all data. Here's the message users are receiving:In light of the installation issues some users are facing, those who are concerned about their devices being sent into recovery mode and bricked should hold off on downloading the iOS 10 update for the time being until more information can be uncovered. A backup before installing is also recommended.

This is why I do all major iOS updates over USB; minor and maintenance are fine over OTA for the most part.

AT&T iPhone 6S here entered Restore Mode after the OTA update. iTunes was able to re-install the update without doing a full blown restore.

No iisue here with my iPad mini. Just finished install, and went to press home to open. Sorry this happens. I will wait a while to do my SE. I did the iPad with my cord though, not OTA

OTA update bricked my T-mobile iPhone 6S 128GB.

Updated iTunes, connected and was prompted to update or restore. Picked update. It downloaded/verified/installed 10.0.1 no problem. Did not need to restore.

No problem with OTA on my T-mobile iPad Air 128GB.
