My Iphone 6 is running great with IOS11! Feels faster and I really like it.
I use the mic a lot and I don't like it when the keyboard disappears and you have to
click back on the keyboard every time, but maybe its just me
time will tell ;)

That absolutely not cause and effect, even without the MS email problem the advice would be the same. Organisations are risk averse, they can either get a potentially very, very small increase in productivity via the new OS going well, or have an absolute failure of the system if it goes badly, of course they are going to advise not to update yet... it's simply not worth taking any chances until the OS is proven stable 'in the wild'
Truer words. If my IT department had its way always (instead of just most of the time) we'd wait six months before updating to any new version of the Mac OS.

The end result is the same. For the first time I'll be staying with an old release as long as possible. From the sound of it, I'm not alone.

My wife's IT department sent an email instructing everyone in her company to stay on iOS10. When stuff like that's happening, there's a misfire someplace.
Could have been your wife’s company's misfire and not apples.

My family is on iOS 11 as well as several people I know whose companies are supporting iOS 11. To each their own.

I don’t trust that chart, what’s with the spikes for “older”?
Possibly a timezone effect: I can't find any information what data Mixpanel collects, but I guess it's by internet traffic worldwide. Note that the "older" spikes are equally spaced every 24 hours at 11 am. I assume that at these times some countries were older devices with earlier versions of iOS are more active.

Add m3 to those not updating. Always been one to instantly update by after installing on my ipad mini im appaled by the user experiemce and battery life.

Ipad pro will not see update until battery life improves. If not, im switching to samsung and if microsft release a smaller surface pro, ill be jumping ship.

i have continued to use Bento on my mac that synched with the iPad for keeping track of personal inventory. Bento no longer works on the iPad. I am disappointed. Anyone have recommendations for cheap or free replacement?

The Keyboard is appaling! Damn, it looks so cluttered, is there a way to revert to older style keyboard?

I like it a lot.

The new Control centre is good and the Apple TV controller is excellent.

Faults : The audio controls in Control Centre are un-useable. Its too easy to hit 30 seconds back or forward, rather than play or vice versa, at least on my SE. I guess the bigger phones might have a bigger icon.

I'm putting the phone to sleep to get the large audio controls which are very good, and then using touch id to wake it up to avoid using the control centre for audio.

The home app controls in control centre now needs an extra click to turn lights on /off, if you are not already on the home screen. Before, if you were already on the home section, it was just a quick swipe up to adjust lights if you were not previously on something else. Not a big deal.

Some of the icons are a lot less minimalist. I like them, but I also liked the minimal ones. (app store and iTunes store) The new calculator icon seems almost retro.

What happens after I update an iOS device over-the-air to iOS 11 and connect it to a computer running iTunes 12.6.2 (ie, the last iTunes version with the App Store)? Can iTunes 12.6.2 backup devices running iOS 11? Can it transfer files? Can it sync non-app items (music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, podcasts)? I assume the beta versions of iOS 11 did work with iTunes 12.6.2, so technically the GM of iOS 11 should so too.

It works flawlessly. I got the forced update for 12.7, downgraded to 12.6.2 and did all the updates to iOS 11 with my old iTunes 12.6.2.

iPhone 6s plus, iPhone 7, iPad Pro 12.9 first gen, iPad Pro 10.5.

everything as before. Syncing and local backup iOS 11 without any problem.

Just an FYI to 5S users if you haven't updated you will find a lot of lag and overall slowness. On the plus side it seems my Apple music now remember the playlist and song it was last playing after long periods of time not listening or switching to full library when connecting to a new BT device (usually my car did this but didn't do it yesterday after updating).

Also nice to have low battery mode and hotspot shortcuts in control centre by why no settings shortcut Apple? Also clearing a notification on the lock screen clears it in the regular notification tab so no more having to double action notifications. Please group by app in next update please?

Just wish it didn't slow down the phone as much as it did but should be replacing it within a few months so I'll try and put up with it till then. Overall pros outweigh the slow down con but be warned it will be slow and laggy on a 5S but that really wasn't a surprise. I mean it's a 4 year old smartphone.
Thanks for the info. I was leaning towards not updating on my 5S. I'm pretty sure I won't now.

Well you have people leaving a current device going to an 8/8+.. you have others waiting for X.. so some of those may not update knowing they can sell their current devices with IOS 10 on them. Or they are keeping their current devices on IOS 10 knowing 32bit apps are now officially a thing of the past. There's a ton of reasons why people are going all in on IOS 11 right now.

But let me turn-off Bluetooth (or Wifi)!
I don't feel like owing my own device. You don't even have a 3000mAh battery!

Funny, Apple talks about Rights to Privacy, Right to this and that.. Choice-Freedom but

It's like an AI is forcing me to live & breathe in a certain way. I live in India, these are useless and will only drain my battery outside my home.

Question: How about flights? Classic Switch-off?

Such a drama.

Just found out the old Volume slider still blocks the content if you’re watching a video from your camera roll.

The new one only works with web content, as far as I tested. 1 step forward…

Leave it to this forum for commenters to take something that would be less convenient (going into Settings) and pretending it's something that's not even an option.

iOS 11 doesn't "disable" 32-bit apps. It simply has no 32-bit libraries in order to tun them.

Semantics. It's still the same net result from an end user perspective. You download ios11 and all of a sudden some of your apps don't run anymore, and never will. It's like jumping off a cliff. A jump I won't be making as I value my old apps.

Indeed. Blame the developers for abandoning you.....

Why can't I blame both the developers AND Apple? Actually I don't even blame all of the developers. To expect some of these mom and pop outfits to keep up with Apple always changing things at their own expense and no way to recover that cost is a little unreasonable. Plus, with small one person developers someone could have literally died. Should I blame them for dying?

iPad users should be downloading iOS 11 as fast as possible. It's the update iPad really needs.

Nope. I would like the new features but like my old apps more.

Do you get told what apps won't work if you update?

You won't be given a list before you install if that is what you are asking. You'll get a message when you try and run them, but by then it will be too late and you will be stuck. Apple offers a way into the quicksand, but not a way back out once they stop signing off on the last ios 10 version. It's the thing I hate about Apple the most. Everything should be able to be rolled back whenever you want. One way upgrades with no recourse suck.

The fact that I have a lot of 32 bit free games on my 5s and I'm about to replace it for me means, I can't see installing IOS 11 on this 5s. IOS 11 just doesn't quite pass the cost/benefit analysis. Too much "Bag O'Hurt" The added features aren't worth a bogged down slower phone with less apps.
