I kinda like the new status bar with date and time on the left and hardware related statuses on the right. Why wasn’t it always this way? Now make portrait mode the default and turn the Apple logo on the back!

You mean landscape mode?

If FaceID is implemented then they need to add the ability to store multiple FaceIDs.
Many, many households share iPads. My wife and i for example do so and we each have our fingerprint stored on it

And FaceID to work in landscape.....

I think the lack of iPad Pro at WWDC means it will get an A12X chip at launch. No point releasing 'the most powerful iPad ever' which is then overtaken bu a phone 3 months later as happened last year. I understand that the 1st gen Apple GPU in the A11 perhaps wasn't as fast as the PowerVR GPU in the A10X so there was less reason to delay the iPad Pro last year to get an A11X.
Could be marketing strategy.
Having iPad Pro 2nd gen and then having iPhone X, makes you want to have a new iPad and more powerful then your phone.

Having then again a new iphone even more powerful this year, makes you want to trow money at Apple and beg for a more powerful iPad... now that you are mentally prepared to trow money for a new iPad, they will release the new mighty iPad without bezels with Face ID etc etc, for a base price of:.... $999

Probably the biggest problem with the all screen iPad is that Apple still has not implemented edge detection and I find with the thinner bezels on the latest iPad Pro there are times when a fraction of my thumb is over the screen and it does not respond to gestures correctly.

I don't think this is a challenge to understand the difference between the placement of a touch that can be detected as the person holding on to the device and intentional touch to perform a click or gesture, and if Apple wants to go all-in on minimizing bezels on the iPad, they need to figure out this properly. Certainly this challenge is not daunting for a company worth near 1 trillion in market cap.

There is no point to rush to market the first thin bezel all screen tablet, when no other competitor has bothered to do that just because of the simple fact of where to you hold on to it to use it properly. If Apple rushes this out and doesn't add some kind of edge touch rejection to iOS 12, it will be another blatant example of form over function.

And yes, if Apple is going to offer Face ID, then offer multiple profile support.

Can anybody dig in iOS 12 to find out if the to-be-new iPAD PRO would have a notch?

With such a bit device to accommodate the hardware for Face ID, there shouldn't be a need to have a notch unless the stupid crazy new Apple wants to have it to make the new IPP looks like an iPhone X.

Hope Apple is not going to make a notch also on the Macbook Pro to make all devices consistent.

Why, why, why, why? Stupid notch!!! Just accept a slightly thicker bezel at the end where the camera and other sensors are so you so don't have this big black blob at the edge of the screen!!! Apple are supposed to be about design elegance, but the notch is anything but elegant. It's only there so as much as the screen as possible can go right to the edge. and only exists because it's not currently possible to put the camera and other sensors behind the glass. A slightly thicker bezel would look infinitely better.

Is it going to be same size screen with smaller footprint or same size footprint with larger screen?

It better be the latter... I dont want to buy a new smart keyboard.

As an iPad mini owner I'm hoping the former. I've given up on the mini Pro (but feel free to surprise me Apple!) so I'm hoping for the smallest, full-sized iPad.

Read the "things found in iOS 12 beta" summary. "Alternate faces" is now supported. Still doesn't look like true multi-user support but it is a start.

They did, actually. I updated my iPhone X to iOS 12, and it has the option to add an alternate face. Granted, it’s only two faces… But it certainly a step in the right direction.

Perhaps they do it and few years later, they announce that they listen to users and release an improved version without the notch.

I need someone to explain why the iPad needs such tiny bezels? The iPhone you are maximizing the screen size of something that is being held in one hand and normally placed in a pocket. Those constraints don’t exist for the iPad so the lack of bezels just becomes something that makes it significantly less durable and probably less useful since holding it will cause your hands to likely cover portions of the screen at all times.

I think the iPad would be totally fine with a notch sized bezel around the entire screen, eliminating the need for the notch.

Style over substance? Not that Apple would ever do that...

I'm hoping or smaller bezels but no notch. No home button is fine with me. Apple, please remember it's a tablet, and get handled differently to a phone. Beside, for years people have joked how the iPad is "just a big iPhone", so please don't make it even more like one.

They’ve already introduced this with iOS 12 with the ‘alternate appearance’ which is assume would allow for a 2nd face to be added.
