Hey, can someone help me with this important question: WHEN WILL IT COME OUT ?!
I need to buy an iPad. Not sure if to get the current 10.9 pro or to wait a little in the hope a new one come out. Is it more likely to come out before the or after the newt iPhone in September? Are we hoping it will come in 2018 or 2019?

Apple used to do a September event AND an October event. September for iPhone and Watch. October for Mac and iPad.

I feel like the iPad with Face ID will launch this fall since they haven’t been updated since June 2017.

Can we please stop calling the top status bar a "menu bar" .... it's not a Mac, there is no menu there.
EXACTLY!
When I first saw it called the "menu bar" I was like, "What menu bar?" Then I realized it's what I have always called the "header".

Thats what I thought, no chance it will get release before the iPhone XI. Which means it won't be delivered to my door until November and most likely not until Xmas. I guess I have my answers then. Ill go buy an iPad tomorrow ...

My credit card is ready! I’m glad the rumors are now saying the new ipad pros are coming this year, cause i know other rumors were saying not until March 2019. I guess the big question is if it’s this year, would Apple release the new pros in September at the iphone event? Or would they wait until October/November to do so? Hmm.

Also...will Apple just release ONE ipad pro X design alongside slightly updated versions of the 10.5” & 12.9” versions? Kinda like what they did with the iphone x alongside the iphone 8 & 8 plus? Or will they change both the 10.5” & 12.9” to the bezel-less design? And if so, will they keep the same physical size and just enlarge the screens? Or will they shrink the physical size by keeping the current screen size but removing the bezels? Hmm.

So many questions!

Is it going to be same size screen with smaller footprint or same size footprint with larger screen?

It better be the latter... I dont want to buy a new smart keyboard.
That's the chief reason I haven't gotten a Smart Keyboard for my iPad Pro. I don't want my accessory purchase to be tied to a specific piece of hardware. At least the Apple Pencil will be compatible with subsequent iPad Pros.

How do you properly hold a bezel-less iPad?
Same way you hold one now- with the touch rejection Apple started using when the iPad Mini came out.

The notch would be a huge distraction on the iPad.
I think it would be even less distracting because it would represent a much lower percentage of the overall screen.
Nothing is this year. Apple makes money being lazy...
Lol. I bet you'll watch this week's WWDC videos of all of the new APIs and underlying tech in iOS and still think they're "being lazy".

I need someone to explain why the iPad needs such tiny bezels? The iPhone you are maximizing the screen size of something that is being held in one hand and normally placed in a pocket. Those constraints don’t exist for the iPad so the lack of bezels just becomes something that makes it significantly less durable and probably less useful since holding it will cause your hands to likely cover portions of the screen at all times.

I think the iPad would be totally fine with a notch sized bezel around the entire screen, eliminating the need for the notch.
The way I see it, Apple wants to reduce the iPad to just the screen. This way, the iPad essentially becomes whatever app you are running on it. Borders would break this immersion, and so removing the bezels feels like the next logical step towards this goal.

I wondered the same thing.

This is not a slim, slender iPhone it's huge, has weight and you need some control over it as you use it and move with it, your thumbs are absolutely going to want to grab some of that face for grip so do don't drop your expensive toy.

I like the idea of slimmer bezels but please leave atlas a 1/4 inch or more.

Apple are not making room for a notch on the iPad. There won’t be a notch.
As for interface parity to pave the way for the new iPads, that’s correct.

It makes sense for interface parity on other iPhones but not necessarily for the iPad - what benefit is there? The only real reason that makes sense is that a future iPad model will feature the notch - just my opinion.

That iPad render looks slik!
I just don't see a notch happening on iPads. They would leave enough bezel on it to house all cameras and sensors because the bezel does not need to be as minimal as it is on the iPhone X.
It's your opinion, but the notch will disappear once you are on the iPad. I think it look better than any tablet today. What tablet looks better than last years iPad?

I completely agree, I made this point on several YouTube video myself as well. They could linearly implement all of the individual sensors and cameras!

Honestly, I'm considering buying an iPad Pro 12.9 in the next weeks.

However, of course I'm wondering if I should wait.

One part of me is telling me I should, the other part is telling me there is no way they are selling such an iPad Pro with Face ID and an "A12X" the same price as the iPhone X.

Make it look like this!!!

In 2011 I got an iPad 2. Sold it within a few months as I realized it was no more useful than an iPod Touch.
In 2013 I got an iPad 4. Sold it after about a year. I tried, really hard, to make it useful. I took notes on it, I paid for premium apps. Still, I kept reaching for the Macbook anytime I wanted to do even basic web browsing.
In 2015 I got an iPad Air 2. Sold it after about a year. Same as last time. Awesome hardware, but it just wasn't as good as a Macbook for anything.

So fool me thrice. I really don't see any meaningful changes to iOS for iPad that make an iPad worthwhile today.

I feel like it will be after the back to school season once Apple let that BTS Promo with the beats headphones etc expires.

I'm actually quite afraid of the price of a FaceID iPad given the price of the X. But I really want the A12X, you know the iPad will keep up for a long time of iOS updates. 10.5 to replace my iPad Mini, but if the bezels are small enough, I'd love to get the 12.9. But i'm preparing to not buy if the sticker price is too high...

If FaceID is implemented then they need to add the ability to store multiple FaceIDs.
Many, many households share iPads. My wife and i for example do so and we each have our fingerprint stored on it
they showed yesterday that you can store another face on iOS so its probably going to be a feature when they show these new iPads IMO

If they are made similar size frame and almost bezel-less then the two size iPad Pro will have screens about 11” and 14” respectively which would be ideal.

I will be ready to upgrade to a new 14”!

Yeah, it’s imminent, but what does the timeframe (later than WWDC) let suggest:
- A11X when A12 is parallel released with the next iPhone
- or both (iPhone 2018 and iPad Pro 2018) get the new A12 since „it’s so powerful“

Most likely the later. This is what happened with the first gen 12.9 inch iPad Pro. They released it 2 months after the iPhone 6S, with the A9X
I remember the announcement and having to wait almost 6 weeks to get my hands on one after the order.
