Awesome! I found my old Handspring. It was a good phone. A long long time ago...

I tried charging my old Palm Treo. The battery swelled up and almost exploded. Just say no! Tangent warning: I have a box of most of the Bluetooth ear buds I have had over the years. Numerous Motorola and BlueAnt buds, and the original Apple one that ROCKED! I listed the 'box' on ebay, and someone bid $300.00 for it. And didn't pay. They still work, I assume. I've got multiple charger cords for the Apple bud too. But old IT stuff? Be careful trying to use it again.

I had a first gen Nano. Charged it up, and the battery swelled and cracked the case. Apple just said 'We'll recycle it for you' *sigh*
I actually recently charged up an old treO. Worked fine. Had a bunch of apps i wrote on it that i had long since forgotten about. Was nice to show to my daughter.

For my iPhone was the fact I can’t run my Twitter app (version 6.67 (2016)) on iOS 12 so stayed at iOS 11.. And for my Mac was the 32bit apps of course 😁

I do regret not being able to use some of my 32bit apps. Wise choice.

Cool! I really like the Treo. It was 'cool'. I'm bummed that it didn't survive charging. I also had a Palm II (among others). It swelled so much, I threw it in water to stop it from burning my house down!

is Apple somehow looking to get 100% at some time in the future? Seems every iOS major update, the % increases.

That's a plus ? ok. I guess the old saying "Why are you so happy not being able to use 32-bit apps?"

Not cherry-picking for an answer, just thought you wouldn't have upgraded otherwise.

What percentage of Android phones sold in the past 4 years are running the latest version of Android? 15%? Less?
Only 4 likes!! Bet you are gutted at your attempt for fake popularity fell on its backside!!

Everyone knows the core google services are now updated through the play store... C minus.. Must try harder!!

The accomplishment is that the platform is designed for longevity, compared to competing platforms where the OS company is different from the device manufacturer and the responsibility for providing device updates is with each individual device manufacturer and devices are often obsolete after 2 years.....

Obsolete? So are you saying that any device that the manufacturer has said isn't getting the latest and greatest OS update is effectively worthless?

Let's take the years old galaxy s8? Worthless as its not on android P or whatever the most recent one is.. Well my son Is currently playing fortnite on it, he Snapchats, tweets, mails, YouTube, etc etc etc. All very well. Please explain how's it obsolete? I'll wait....

Android 10 is the current version of Android. Looking forward to market penetration stats from Google, should be entertaining. For context: nine months after Android 9 was released, it was only on 10% of devices.

android 10 quite fast adoption in my google analytic in my website. 9 also. They still people stuck with their old phone android 6 and 7 and broken screen. As developer, i only support 8 and above and ios 11 above for my current company i work with and my own apps swiftui ios13 above only.

90% of the time it's not Google but the carriers. Why provide you with an update unless it affects them. Want an update, upgrade your phone. That's the carrier's mentality. So unless you purchase a flagship android phone (you know the ones priced similar to Apple's) or a support Google Pixel you can expect little to no updates from the carrier for the life of the phone.

I use to think that until I discovered Samsung’s unlocked phones were always the last to get updates and Pixels would go months with bogs that were never fixed.

i use Android as well as iOS. I like both. But the lack of updates on Android devices is something that annoys me.

premium samsung update quite fast but non premium will wait 2 month. While apple it based on hardware. My ipod touch will stuck on ios12 and it more on test device for now. Still got market people use ios12 and iphone 6.

Yeah it’s pretty ridiculous to call this any sort of accomplishment by Apple. Most people either have auto-updates turned on by default, or they manually update simply because their phone told them to.

It’s not like most people sit there and think, “Hm... I think Apple really knocked it out of the park with this latest update—I have to have it!”

As opposed to the plethora of Android phone that are ‘capable’ to upgrade to the latest OS yet have been left out of an upgrade since their manufacturer has been lazy or provided an arbitrary reason (or none at all, lol) for not offering the upgrade?

sorry is Apple planned their deceives and OS support long ahead for maintaining OS upgrades on devices 5yrs old or newer actually bothers you.

I triple dare Apple to give the adaptation figures for Catalina. I bet it is much much less than previous OSs.

From the quality of that post, I take it you’re an Android guy?

Anyways can’t wait to see Google’s official stats on Android 10 adoption. I’m guessing it’s at 15% tops, next to Apple’s 92% for iOS 13.

Could you provide some examples?

I always update the OS and apps whenever available. I know I've run into bugs before. But I can't remember any. I don't recall having any that were a serious issue.
Most of my issues have been related to playback of music that I've ripped, which isn't a priority for Apple anymore. I had an issue where the lyrics weren't showing on my iPhone - that took two operating systems to fix. My most recent issues are… I can't initiate playback of music stored on my phone with my Apple Watch, playback of protected files requires my Apple ID every three days, Apple Watch stays on the last app despite the setting. I've had other issues as well. I'm pretty thorough with my troubleshooting - I can't tell you how many times I've wiped my devices over the years in an attempt to fix the problems to no avail.

When I go back and look at 13, and I have done the majority of the public betas ...
Pro Max
I had no bugs that prevented my use of my phone
I had many issues that impacted or impeded the normal everyday use of my phone
I have run into a number of annoying bugs that degraded the enjoyment of my phone

I can honestly say that iOS 13 has been far less than enjoyable.

I see some folks complaining about iOS 13 but I love it. Dark mode, better maps, Siri can read my texts to me, way better photo editing built in, swipe typing built in... I’d hate to go back to iOS 12.

Edit: oh man I forgot about “Silence Unknown Callers”! That is a lifesaver, puts all unknown callers straight to voicemail.
I’d like all those features, but I don’t want to lose the Safari iCloud syncing. iOS 13 breaks syncing with High Sierra (and earlier) and my Macs cannot be updated to Mojave.

I’m also not at all trusting that it won’t slow my devices and introduce YET MORE NEW BUGS.

There's a few things that were a plus for iOS 13:
*The download option in Safari. No longer have to use Documents app.
*Shared folders in Files for other iOS users.
*External disk access for Files app. (Big feature for those who don't have a computer and want to backup their photos and delete them off their device.)
*Pull tab on scrollbar to get to the bottom faster.
The rest is a downgrade from iOS 12.

How many iterations of iOS but still lacking basic features that Android has had for nearly a decade like ability to move icons anywhere on home screen, swipe away calls, split screen multitasking, VP9 codec support, ungimped background multitasking, etc.? iOS 7 thru 13 pretty much the same thing if not worse in some areas.

At this point I find iOS 13 to be very stable. I would absolutely recommend it to everyone with at least an iPhone 7.

That’s always frustrating to try to have older versions of software play nice with newer versions of software. I’m curious what Macs you have that can’t be updated to Mohave? Are they older Mac Pros? I wonder if this might be helpful:

The question is how many of that list are true useful and innovative features that would significantly improve the lot of ios, except to make it worse in many areas? Maybe one...I would like my max to do split screen multi-tasking, same as my ipad.
