So, I guess it’s totally not annoying - just read an article on how to turn off the reminders? Who wants to deal with it? After a few such reminders that require the passcode to dismiss it temporarily for it to pop up again, requiring another attempt to dismiss with the passcode, people will just update to stop this insanity. Hence, 55% updated after a month. Needless to say, Apple keeps releasing new updates - three now within a month?
Shouldn't the capability to turn off update reminders be an option in Settings?

I did the betas (started at beta 4) on both my XS Max and iPad Pro 10.5. I understood it was beta and so any issues (and I didn’t have any major issues) I had I reported. Off the beta and iOS running quite smoothly on my XS Max and new iPad Pro 11. No complaints! Even in the things we think we have absolute control, we still fail sometimes. Now, I have no control over the phones I buy (each one is assembled individually) and software (someone writes the code) - other than the money I spend - which is an insignificant part of my life. There are more worthy things to deserve my anger!

Why should Google and Android OEMs be embarrassed? They still have the majority of market share, and the OEMs make money from selling new phones, not updating old ones. Besides, I don’t see any tech reviewers say anything about updates when they reviewed an Android phone. Just buy a new one. Problem solved.
Actually Apple has more of the profits! Android can have the majority market share.

Minor problems with iOS 13 which were fixed in 13.1 for me and my friends as well. No problems at all with iPadOS 13 (been testing it since first public beta). On the other hand, tvOS broke my Beamer app (it won't play the file until I run it at least 50 times in a row and app controls don't work) and they weren't able to come up with fix yet which is little frustrating.

Apple does a good job of pumping up those #'s by issuing public betas.
How many of those were already on a developer or public beta?
Let’s see, 900 million divided by 2, so 450 million active iPhones on iOS13. Now we have some real numbers, how many people out of 450 million do you think are actually on public beta? a very generous guess would be 3-4 million. So literally a drop in the ocean. Not all users are on this site daily, man.

Yes I downloaded an app, that's proof no new hardware is needed. The a13 bionic doesn't have any new cpu instruction set that the a12 doesn't have.
Again, there’s tons of apps that do the same thing, they existed for the longest. I’m not even going to continue to entertain you anymore. Have a better day honey.

55% of iPhones Introduced in Last Four Years Now Running Worse Than Before

Fixed the headline for ya. 😅
uh... but remember they killed planned obsolescence last OS?

I mean, consider this position: “With iOS 12 Apple LOCKED the 5s, 6, and 6s to terrible horrible slooower and worse then iOS 11! It was a new scheme and plot to force them to think their hardware can’t perform anymore.”

That doesn't exactly ring true now does it? Or do you want to argue that iOS 12 slowed down devices. why stick those old devices with a fast OS?

I suspect that these updates were involuntarily installed due to Apple's heavy handed popups and demands that you install the update. Really, I have automatic downloads turned off, yet my 8 still downloads the update and nags me to install it.

The only proof is the android app is second rate compared to apple’s method. But do you have a citation the hardware between models is identical?

Your wife is ”...super angry...” the onus is on her, the update was not FORCED on her. Teach her how to turn off auto updates: Settings > General > Software Updates> Automatic Updates. Problem solved.
this does not work. update still downloads and nags you even after turning this off.

You are confused. There is no single version of Android. Each vendor has their own version. So, just like iPhone users are (or are not) on the latest version of Apple's OS, so are, say, Samsung users on the latest version of Samsung OS. You are talking about Google's Android. But this one is targeted only to Google phones. And, Samsung version of Android usually has way more features than the Google's one.
And if the vendor one day decides to stop releasing updates for your phone because there are too many other newer phones that need updates, you can start kissing goodbye to your phone, unless you have the time to play the Homebrew game.

Love watching how people are still getting frothed up along with a case of the shakes about updates and percentages! Such drama over mice nuts.

And I love watching the pointless comments of those who actually go into the forum and read the posts, and because they can't come up with anything to say, pretend they don't care by posting the above.

What percentage regret upgrading?
13.1 broke my graphics, freezes everywhere, even the App Store crashed so I couldn't update apps that didn't work. Worst iOS release in sometime.

Please upload a video of your iPhone behaving this way. I know bs when I see it. Thank you.

Why not report "Number of devices running iOS 13 that can receive the upgrade?" Or is this what they're attempting to do but downplaying by saying "introduced in last four years"?

? They already did, to half the iOS devices in the world in less than a month...

They did hand out 5 downgrades already (13.0, 13.1, 13.1.1, 13.1.2, 13.1.3). I am not a power user but I do heavily rely on my iPhone for Exchange email and it is still JACKED UP with 13.1.3. I have since moved to the Outlook app because Microsoft knows mail.

I have been on the iPhone since my 3G and this so far is the most buggy iOS they have released. Apple quality is going down....down....down. After I purchased my 2017 15inch MBP, I am done with Laptops from Apple. I should have bought the 2015 version in 2017 to replace my 2012 MBP while they still sold it....my $3000 mistake.

Some of these updates are people that had the update FORCED on them, like my wife and she is super-angry at this.
You just reminded me of this billboard....

Not sure what these disasters are. iOS 13 running GREAT on my XR and the gf's iPhone 7S. Super-smooth upgrade, zero issues, zero complaints.

Do you actually use the iOS mail app? My list of issues with the mail up is too long to type out. Try addressing an iMessage, as you type you will see the cached recipients popup to try and help you. That list can grow quite long and group recipients tend to pop up quick. In iOS 12 you could swipe those out of the cache because it was kind of annoying after this list built up. That feature is either broken...or gone even on 13.1.3

Mail and iMessage are the two apps I use the most and they are buggy as heck.
