So, Samsung Android can run Android apps. And? MacOS can run iOS apps. Are they the same OS? Most (all?) apps from the leading software vendors get released on both platforms. Unless you are trying hard to find some apps that are available only on iOS platform, it's not really an issue. Not for a long time. In fact there are way more apps (and more types of apps) in Play Store than in App Store. I doubt you compared all 2 millions of them. Just as an example, you won;t find things like Nova Launcher (or any launcher), NBA on TNT VR, Tasker on iOS.

Still grasping at straws I see.

Must really bother you to know Android is a complete disaster when it comes to updates (which also affect security, since Google puts in mitigations for exploits with each new Android version). Something the Android fans conveniently leave out when they pretend that Google Play Services is all they need to stay up to date.

If you want to play the Android vs iOS game with Apps you'll lose just like last time. Where's Photoshop for Android? Oh right, not coming out. Where are all the powerful Apps to compete with Procreate, Affinity or Pixelmator (for example). Non-existent on Android. It's absolutely an issue if you want to actually do anything beyond Facebook on your device.

I have had Motorola phones. There’s no notification of an update. I have to go in the settings and check if there’s an update. That’s how it was on the iOS until just a few years ago. These update reminders are extremely obnoxious and frankly intrusive. There should be a class-action suit to stop Apple from so intrusively imposing their software updates on their customers.
I have not received a single OTA notification for update on my 6s, running 12.4.1. Besides, even then you can ignore it. So these whining about obnoxious and intrusive Apple is hyperbole and childish.

Save you breath buddy. When arguing about updates with Android users, they will claim that none of the security issues with Android is harming users, so lack of security updates is a non issue.

I updated all of our phones, iPads, apple TV and Computers to the newest OS. A few minor issues, pretty much all of the worked out already. I'm a happy camper. Seriously, if you don't like Apple products, buy something that works for you. Getting all emotional and bent out of shape over what gadgets you like makes no sense at all.

Apple has posted the first stats for iOS 13 adoption since its launch on September 19th for iPhone.

Apple shared the statistics on the App Store Developers page which was updated today. Apple reports that iOS 13 is installed on 55% of all iPhones introduced in the past four years, and 50% of all iPhone devices, as measured by App Store activity. The pace puts iOS 13 approximately on par with iOS 12 adoption last year which hit 53% of active devices in a slightly shorter timeframe and a different device breakdown.

This year, Apple has broken down the stats between both iOS 13 and iPadOS which were launched at different times this year. According to Apple, 41% of iPads from the past four years have upgraded to iPadOS, while 33% of all active iPads are on iPadOS.

Meanwhile, here on MacRumors, our analytics show an 84% iOS 13 adoption by our visitors on the same day that Apple measured -- October 15th.

I’ll deal with the bugs till they iron’em out, dark mode is awesome!

in the meantime, very reason I don’t have Samsung phones, after 2 yrs they’re worthless to anyone.

Do you have a source for that information? On my Samsung note 9, I was able to side load the google camera and get the low light feature without extra hardware. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...e.2046517/page-36?post=27844347#post-27844347

The link above contains information related to iphone 11 night mode.

There are Android alternative to all that. Beside, why would anyone photoshop on iPad. Sorry, I will happily do this with my PC.

People change phones every 2 years. I would rather paying as little possible and upgrade as much possible.

This is why I never picked most recent iPhone and only buy mid-range Android phone.

You do realize that Night Mode can only happen on the new iPhone 11’s due to upgraded sensors, along with improvements in the chip. It’s not like Apple can push an update on hardware via software🙄

Don’t waste your time with him, he’ll just move the goalposts or something.

*edit* I see he already moved the goalposts 😂

Everybody would rather pay as little as possible and upgrade as much as possible. However, when I upgrade I get what I want, because of the usage I get out of the device.

Ok? So if I can get a phone for as little as possible while satisfying my need, why would I spend 1300+ CAD for an iPhone? I think $400 dollars phone do as much as iPhone can.

If your value to cost ratio tops out at $400 then go for it I say, get what suits your requirements. I personally think the additional cost is worth it to me for an iphone for the tangible and intangible benefits my value system places over android, amortized over how much I use the device.

Although I understand exchange rates play a part in the price in Canada.

You can’t ignore it. You have to enter your phone’s passcode and then choose when you are going to update. The option you can choose is now, tonight, or later. If you choose later, it will again prompt you in a few days again requiring the passcode to dismiss it. Who wants to keep doing this? People will update just to get rid of this annoyance.

Wow that is a huge a number for iOS at this point, considering the issues listed with the release.

LMAO ... really now?

Sorry the 80% plus mark Tim Cook used to boast about is no longer a bargain right due to iOS 13 being updated 4x in 35days.

Some fit and polish needs to be done. It almost seems like departments for iOS/TVOS/macOS/HomePodOS/iPadOS are very departmentalized lately.

Time to start LISTENING to your entrenched user base Apple!!

Not everybody cares about the number of updates, like me. I’d rather updates are pushed out with some qualitative measure of how important it is to push out an update.

There are articles about how to stop ios update reminders. I always update, so I don't have an issue with them.
So, I guess it’s totally not annoying - just read an article on how to turn off the reminders? Who wants to deal with it? After a few such reminders that require the passcode to dismiss it temporarily for it to pop up again, requiring another attempt to dismiss with the passcode, people will just update to stop this insanity. Hence, 55% updated after a month. Needless to say, Apple keeps releasing new updates - three now within a month?
