Dang! I wish I knew. Well there’s next year lolYeah. The screen on the watch goes in to that circle progress thing but only takes maybe a couple of minutes.

If you try to restore from a backup that is on a beta build, it will prompt you to join the beta program on your new iPhone and proceed to download the latest build, otherwise it won’t restore from a backup. In my case it was a full OS download of iOS 16.1 (though it said 16.0).So it took the read about the beta programme because your old phone had a profile present, do we think?
And to confirm your old phone was on iOS 16 and your 14 was on an old build of 16?
He'll be back after Monday

yup - was seamless and probably took no longer than a few minutes.
My 13 PM was on 16.1, the 14 PM was on I assume just 16 Official. I would have assumed that prompting for continuation of Beta participation would have downloaded the proper beta, but I guess not.So it took the read about the beta programme because your old phone had a profile present, do we think?

I updated my older post. I had to update to 16.1 on the 14 PM in order to get device to device to actually start. For me at least, it didn’t seem like it downloaded 16.1. Given the small delta size and that the splash screen said 16.0, I’m assuming that download was the 16.0.1 fix that MR posted about.Quality. That seems easy then. So you just plugged it in, clicked restore and away you went on 16.1 back up, after it had updated to that beta…. Correct?
Heads up! Not sure if this affects 16.1 but if it does and you’re getting a new phone tomorrow…

Yup. As easy as that. Was all straightforward, and once it downloaded iOS 16.1 beta it restored my backup.Quality. That seems easy then. So you just plugged it in, clicked restore and away you went on 16.1 back up, after it had updated to that beta…. Correct?
, obviously. Can someone with more video editing skills than me replace the visuals with appropriate island animations cued to the music?
How in the world did you get next year's iPhone already? Is Tim your uncle?
Thank god they changed this. The way on 16.0 sucks with its too many buttons to just delete a message. This way is much better, but I still want to just delete the message with swiping left and no prompt at all, like in Mail. This is a new reporting and deleting junk design. I like it better than the previous one.
Sadly not unexpected.
Just hope for the users it is a quick fix.
Mine got paired while the 16.0.1 update was still being prepared. Whole process including update and watch pairing took about 30 minutes.Mine got cut off by 16.0.1 update. So now I’ve got to do it manually. Not super thrilled about that.
More like Fantasy Island lolWith all the weighing in on this I was thinking more of
It was all painless. I was up and running within 45 minutes of the UPS drop off.
I think it depends on how you choose your new phone either with the carrier or unattached as they say. If it’s with your carrier, when you turn it on, it’s already linked and ready to go. There was a dialog at startup but I can’t remember what it said. But if it’s unattached you are asked different questions.E sims have peoples moved over ok during the restore process to iPhone 14’s?
They are saved in the back up apparently and linked to our apple ids.
no problems activating for my 14PM... and going from 16.1 on my 13PM the setup properly prompted me to upgrade the 14PMHeads up! Not sure if this affects 16.1 but if it does and you’re getting a new phone tomorrow…

I got the deep Purple 14 Pro Max and I love it... At first I thought I'd be bothered that the back glass is "frosted" but having it in hand I love it..If anyone gets the Purple 14 today… how’s the colour looking? Sexy?
Covid has ruined my Apple Store visit today 🎻🥹
