This is a widespread bug affecting all kinds of devices. It was introduced in iOS 16, and people who game are raging over this. I even experience it in the Hit the Island game, however it’s only dropping frames when touch input is provided as long as I stop touching the display, the framedrops disappear. Is it the same in your case?

Yes and No
In Rally it is during touch. In FF9 is is while the cinematic scenes are playing. In Heckfire it is while your dragons are zipping across the screen AND when you are scrolling around the map (map takes fingers)

That must be the first time they release such a thing. Interestingly enough, you can remove it after having it installed. I don't see the sense of being able to remove/uninstall a security update.

If this becomes the norm I can see it especially if you have an MDM or other items and the update causes a critical issue.

It seems this early test of the rapid security response framework does require the beta profile. Wonder what is actually IN the update.
I vaguely remember reading something about Apple will be initiating security updates without the need for a full OS update. Don't remember where I read it though......

Here is one article...
I meant what was in the actual security update. Just says improvements and bug fixes in General->About->iOS Version.

That’s interesting. Maybe the stutter in FF9 is not related to the widespread bug but a specific one. This is the OG post that highlighted this issue to me:

Does perspective zoom actually do anything yet on iPad? not sure why it’s an option when setting wallpaper yet the effect is totally gone from ipados 16

On the security (a) update. My only complaint is the password.
Click down load and install - put in password
Click it install - put in password
Click to launch post update - put in password.

Why so many times?

On a side note - it installed on both the iPad Pro and 13 ProMax with no issue.

When I reboot my phone, the weather widget gets greyed out. The fix for it is to launch your weather app. That has fixed it for me every time.
The other fix is to stop rebooting your phone! :D
Argh. I updated last night and yup, the scheduled sleep alarms won't update. After my alarm went off in the morning, it now shows Alarms Off even though I have an alarm set.
Sorry about that. I did the test yesterday and mine worked as I described earlier. I have added the widget back and will allow it to work on its own tomorrow and report back. I have 2 alarms set for every week day so I should be able to tell tomorrow.
Can I download the ipsw for the developer beta if I’m a public beta user?
Yes. The firmware is the same.

No worries and thanks for checking. My frustration is with Apple, not you. I'm on the beta now so no need to check unless you're also curious.
