Yea and you can just turn it off. 🤷🏼‍♂️ it’s not like you have to downgrade, reinstall, wipe all data, restore, blah blah

Annnnnnd just what I needed to hear. Will be keeping it off for a while longer then. Thanks for your reply 👊🏼
That is funny. I have yet to enable it myself. Every time I think maybe I should try it I see a similar post…everything sluggish, slow loading, had to turn it off…I get dissuaded all over again.

It’s been working fine for me. I only turned it off for a few months after the initial launch as it was unusable. Don’t recall having any issues in the last few months.

I try it every now and then but since it is only Safari I would rather use my VPN.
With my VPN turned off and PR on, there are times when you can see load issues, down and up, with Safari.

AT&T claims they allow use of PR - in cellular called Limit IP Address Tracking - but with it on issues seem to keep popping up.

For now I will check it on each beta but swap back to it off (both places) and VPN on.

Now this I keep on and have had no issues. Just haven’t wanted to take that next step.
Just FYI it’s the same thing.

With Limit IP it only routes unsecured requests via PR network but PR for Safari routes all the traffic thru their servers.
In the end they all use the same servers and as with any server handling that kinda traffic there‘a potential for occasional slowdowns.

Come on guys, it’s not like installing a beta or something. ;) It’s just a switch - flick it on, try how it works for you and if there are any issues you can easily turn it off. It literally takes a minute.

We know. Some of us have done all this since iOS 15. Just having a recap and wondered how it’s all been working for people. As you can read… it’s a mixed bag.

YMMV with each specific situation and depending on other content blockers, but I’m seeing night and day difference in load times for websites on every device with Private Relay turned off. I was getting tired of the 5+ second delays when loading a website.

I turned it on this morning after reading the first few posts on the topic and I wasn’t able to connect Apple Mail (on my Mac) to my email accounts. Turned it off and connected immediately. Just turned it on again on my home network. We’ll see what happens!

So the report incident on Maps is only active now when a route is not drawn? New or defect?

It’s there during routing but accessible only from the menu. I think that was not a good move by Apple. Requires more attention from drivers than simply hitting the onscreen icon.

I used it this afternoon to report an accident. That report caused me to not make a red light for which I was roundly castigated by my wife, who was late for an appointment. That’s how I am 100% certain it’s in the menu.

Maybe try rebooting after enabling PR once? I’d been using it all this time and rarely did I experience any issue. And when I did it was no more than a few seconds. Also I have it set to “Maintain General Location” so it picks the server closest.

Where to toggle it in MacBook ?

I agree…while technically the same number of presses, I want to just hit anywhere on the center of the screen to have the report button come up so I’m not looking so closely.

I know Apple wants us to use Siri as a default, but my wife is usually castigating me on something completely different during our drives and I can’t use Siri due to her “talking” at me…

I’ve become pretty good at hitting the screen though in the right spots to mark stopped vehicles as “hazards” during longer drives though. With only three options, why not just put them just above the menu bar while routing?

The thing is it only works in Safari. The rest of your internet traffic does not go through this. Better off to use something like 1.1.1.1 Cloudflare app which does apply to all traffic. (That actually works well too) and you can still exclude certain networks that perhaps won't allow it just like PR does. In my experience, 1.1.1.1 works way better than Apples PR and it applies to all traffic.

This beta has less bugs for me than beta 4, but battery is definitely down. I usually go to bed with 30-40% battery left, but last night I went to bed with about 10% left. Getting about 6-6.5 hours of SOT, used to get about 8 hours.
