Sorry I meant with the 14s where, in the US at least, you have to have an eSim as they’ve removed the sim tray. I’m just glad in the UK we aren’t in that position…yet.

If I hadn’t of deleted it, it would have been a super fast easy thing to do and I find when booting up or even after airplane mode, it seems to connect faster. No tray, more room for more battery 😜

I do hope we get a new build tomorrow, simply because in this RC I've found quite a few bugs and disadvantages. Firstly there are some things, still not translated to Russian and Ukrainian languages. Then IMO Earth Wallpaper looks so weird and low quality, I think it would be better if it were completely removed until it is fixed. Overall a list of bugs can be expanded further. Also, talking about wallpapers, I still hope, that they will return dark mode and old stills.

None of this would change with a one or 2 build iteration for tomorrow. None of what you listed would constitute bugs either.

I only do encrypted local backups, no iCloud, this is still not working and I’ve seen other people mentioning the same
Are you trying to backup to a Mac or Windows? I have no issues with my MacBook Pro but have read about issues with Windows.

I’m on Windows 11, iTunes is incredibly neglected on this platform. Keeps telling me it needs to be updated when I’m already up to date! Meanwhile, Apple has countless support pages online telling me I can’t update to a newer version because they no longer support Windows 7, please update to a newer version of Windows :)

That’ll be because it needs the update to officially support the new iOS. Windows machines cannot cope with the iOS 16 beta. It’s the same every year.

You’ll see an update for iTunes on Windows after iOS 16 comes out, which will enable the support. Again, this happens every year.

It’s only supported on Mac by using the file that comes with the Xcode beta that comes out with the first beta of the new iOS and MacOS.

Edit: we’ll, that’s how it works for versions of Windows that are supported. They might kick out a minor update to windows 7 version to enable the support, I don’t know, but the rest of what I said applies to the versions of windows they do support. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you, it would be nice to see iTunes updated more regularly, especially before there’s a beta cycle. But here’s hoping and looking forward to tomorrow’s update. I’ll need to do a more recent backup so I can migrate to the 14 Pro!

One could argue that since the betas are (were) intended for developers, and there is no Xcode for windows ... therefore, iOS development must be done on a Mac... so why bother with the Windows environment during the beta cycle.

That’s exactly the reason why people on Windows have iTunes issues whilst using a x.0 beta until the x.0 public release comes out. Mac’s can only work with it by getting a file from Xcode beta install, which backs up this theory.

Ha! I agree. Doesn’t the earth wallpaper look blurry?

I would note here that this only relates to installing the IPSW (manually downloaded) version of the iOS/iPadOS betas, and not to the OTA versions. Those are Windows/Mac agnostic, as a personal computer (small p/small c) is not needed.

I actually understand this, but these are simply the issues I found after installing RC iOS 16.

Right, but why does Apple “need” to fix those to release iOS 16 to the public? Those are merely preferences you’ve noted. Your preferences.

There’s definitely a good chance that the released version may be a build or 2 ahead. Or it may not be. The critical thing is that there has not been a second Release Candidate, which means that there is nothing deemed a deal-breaker for tomorrow’s release.

On Wednesday I update my Iphone 13 on the IOS 15.6.1 beta, to the IOS 16 RC.
For the last couple of years I have been using, with great success, the paid software, Imazing to do encrypted backups.

Even though I have not seen a release for IOS 16 compatibility, I did a backup with it and all seems good. However, I will not try a restore on my primary, working phone for obvious reasons. If there are any issues with IOS and Imazing, I'm sure the developer will be quick to release an update.

Update: I went to the Imazing site and it already is IOS 16 compatible since 21 Jun, 2022

That’s awesome that there’s a 3rd party solution for backups and restores. Of course I feel more comfortable with the official solution just like you, but I will definitely check this out for the future anyhow. Thanks for the heads up!

Poo gonna hit the fan tomorrow
Indeed. This latest RC has bastardized the somewhat perfect betas leading up to it, this battery drain is awful. My phone has been burning up even with the screen on. I keep getting bugs and crashes, and fragments of "Dynamic Island" when I rotate the phone in Siri search function.

Never had this issue leading up to this RC version.

My battery life on the other betas this go around were pretty good. This last one, my 14 Pro Max has been draining so much faster. 😳 Hopefully another RC or what have you, this week.

I didn't say they "need", I only said, I hope it gets fixed, re-read my very first message :)
