It seems like we’ll need to update the latest build of iOS 16 when we get the new phones. I’m going to do a full restore in iTunes to the newest iOS before I load my backup.

If you are speaking of the new iPhone 14 series they will already have the latest build of 16 when you unbox it. Just will need to restore your backup (or use the built in migrate old phone to new phone deal) wirelessly.

It’s already confirmed that they do not have the final build and will need a day 1 update - it’s on the front page

iOS 16 broke my battery life on my 13 PM. Lost 10% over night with 45 minutes on YouTube. Last charged to 100% at midnight.

Would have downgraded to iOS 15.6.1 but my watch is already running on watchOS 9.

Actually that will not be the case per this correspondent:

Edit: See that several others already posted. Sorry for the pile-on.

The first day after an upgrade is never a good time to gauge battery life. Give it a few days and reassess.

That said (if I’m reading your post correctly): losing 10% with 45 minutes of video playback AND 6+ hours of overnight standby is hardly bad battery life. The six plus hours of standby by themselves would translate to 60+ hours of standby time employing the entire battery capacity. That’s 2.5 days. Given the activity you had on the phone and the post-installation indexing and whatnot, that should improve even more in the next few days.

I reckon the astronomy wallpaper has a larger impact on battery life more than I first thought. It does activate geolocation. Disabled the location service for it and see how it goes.

Autocorrect seems rubbish too on iOS 16.

I’m not saying bad battery life, more like it’s much worst than iOS 15.6.1.

Well yeah. For the reasons I gave above. It’s probably still soon to get a good read on that. If it persists after tomorrow or Friday, then, yes, it’s probably worse than 15.6.1.

Wired ran a decent article on it: Apple’s Killing the Password. Here’s Everything You Need to Know. I think we're going to need Microsoft and Google/Android to adopt it to get it really going.

Couldn't agree more, we need this.
This is wonderful. Apple can lock you in even more effectively in their ecosystem, since you cannot export the passkeys, and they can track every passkey-enabled website you visit through the public key authentication which is done on their servers.

Is anyone else having issues with freshly taken photos not appearing on camera roll? I'm on iPhone 11 Pro and the photos I take simply won't show up immediately on the photos app. They seem to appear there with a big delay, like 5-10mins and this driving me nuts since I can't be sure if it actually took the photo or not.

Same phone, no problems. I just checked, the photos appear immediately both in the camera roll and Google Photos.

12pro, battery destroyed, notifications a mess (missing lots as they don’t show, no matter how I swipe the Lock Screen), and the big one that’s hitting the battery and also means I am missing calls and texts…Vodafone UK signal drops out constantly! Reboots & resets make no difference. I have raised bugs via feedback to Apple.

Looking to downgrade to 15.7 today, it’s not stable enough for my main device

First day on iOS 16, and I am surprised that there was 0 overnight drain! I charged it to 100, had 40 mins of SoT before sleep and when I woke up it was still 100. In fact, it is 100 still! 13 PM

Rather than downgrade I’d reinstall the iOS with IPSW file first. see what that does. Sounds an absolute mess your phone, not quite understanding why. Was it previously jailbroken?
