• return of the battery percentage readout (maybe possible due to extra screen real estate on the 14 Pro?)

• button to rotate video playback in iOS native video player, like is present in YouTube or many other apps.

• proper FLAC support / a way to add FLAC files to the device’s native music library.

So, like AirDrop basically? Where the user has to be in direct vicinity, is that what you’re insinuating?
Yep. Essentially a shortcut to airdrop a vcard and an easy way to ingest it upon the recipient's approval. It seems dead simple, the infrastructure's already in place as you point out. I can't speak for anyone else but it sure seems like a useful feature for a communications device.

That bar is a reminder you can swipe (there) between running apps. The previous app used will show when you swipe right.
It's a reminder that Apple GUI design has become garbage IMO. Many things that won't go away, others (particularly on the Mac) where if you don't know to move your mouse to "that spot" you'll never see the close box. Ugh. Frustrating. I miss the days when people cared about design.

THAT is just the worst design ever! I can’t believe someone actually thought that was a good idea!

1.Desperately need proper message sync between all devices. SMS’s don’t delete from all my devices when deleted on 1. Need to delete them individually my iPad, Mac and Watch.
2. Search in messages is terrible and painfully slow.
3. Deleting photos, documents in messages is a pain too. Need a better interface here.
The watch is the only one with the message deletion issue. I have several other devices and deletions are reliability synched across them all

Just one.
No on-device scanning under any circumstances.
Agree. iCloud scanning is OK because it’s there’s. Scanning local photos or allowing access to them, even for a good cause is still unethical and against the original Macintosh advertisement. And it would make Android more secure because if released, future iOS malware could arrest you by slamming those photos and installing dark web browsers and making fake traces. Android and Windows malware cannot. Most CP owners are undetected due to keeping their stuff to themselves. If Microsoft does it on windows it would solve most cases but also create malware and Ransomware that will make a dad say goodbye to his family for years. Not to mention the first day that gets introduced the police might have an outage which will claim lots of lives.

Smart Photo Storage.

You know how you're taking a picture of your kids or dog or whatever and you snap like 10 pictures to get that one good one? Then you don't delete the other nine. What if Siri or some algorithm could look at it later and say "Hey, you took ten pictures today within a minute of each other and they are all similar. Do you want to delete some to free up space?"
Or even better, compress similar images into a image bundle. That’s how compression works.

The watch... yes that needs fixing. But it already does this perfectly on iPad and Mac. I can delete SMS from any of my iPhone, Mac or iPad and watch them disappear from the other two before my eyes.
* note that i have a desktop mac and my iPad is plugged into power while testing this.

Nothing I care very deeply about in that list. I already have almost everything I need but most of those suggestions would be nice to have nonetheless. Two points of consideration for me:

  • A screen for most recently used apps - this already exists, just swipe up.
  • Battery percent in status bar - very funny that this was available prior to iPhone X and everyone’s been wishing to get it back for 5 years. Sometimes Apple’s logic is insane.

I have long wanted to be able to have a different background for each and every screen on my iPhone. In other words, for each page full of my apps, I would like to have a different background. That should be easy for apple to provide us and I thought years ago they would create that. Maybe they have?

I want to see a completely redesigned GUI. Get rid of the background color for the dock at the bottom of the iPhone screens. Or make it where we can turn it on/off. New icons. New design. I've seen the same GUI for the past several years now. Improve the battery life big time. Give MUCH BETTER wallpaper and live wallpaper options. Provide many more out of the box shortcuts and automations. For example, if the battery % falls below 30% then automatically turn on low power mode. That should be an automation option that I can configure and enable out of the box.

Anyone else remembers that interactive widgets existed in iOS 6 (maybe in iOS 5 too) when the widgets pane would be revealed with the current notifications gesture? I remember being able to tweet without ever having to open the app and it also had an amazing 5-day weather forecast widget that I would check frequently. Then Mr. Ivy came along and 10 years later we are still begging Apple for basic features.
