This beta should have not been released if they weren’t ready to handle it.
I understand your frustration, but I think this is exactly how Apple intended to release AI.
Just realise it’s an incredibly small thing compared to our existence 😌

cool. Can we get multiple profiles? Would be nice to have completely separate spaces. Thank you.

can't believe i got suckered into this beta haha. all this waiting for something i'm gonna use maybe twice. thank god I didn't get suckered into getting the 16 pro tho. the 15 pro will easily tide me over another year.

Several of us at MacRumors who joined the waitlist shortly after the updates went live were able to use the features within an hour or so. I'll definitely update the wait time going forward so people can get a better idea of how long it might take.
I have 18.2 but did not get promoted to join a waitlist. Where the heck is the wait list? Thanks!🤔

I’m still getting the early access requested thing and I requested it the day the beta came out; not sure how much longer I have to wait

As frustrating as the long wait time is, it was worth the update to 18.2 just to be able to use the even the limited 18.1 apple intelligence features with my language set back to English UK.

I’m also not too sure how much actual “apple” intelligence is in the visual intelligence feature so far as on the surface it just seems like a fancy interface to send a photo to either google image search or ChatGPT.

I was interested in Craig Fed’s responses to the Wall Street Journal on AI but they are going to have a tough time stopping the flood gates being opened outside their walled garden. Eventually AI is designed to be disruptive to human control and we may see this time of image playgrounds and the like as almost irrelevant compared to what’s coming down the line.

24+ hours? That’s putting it mildly. It’s been days in my case!
I installed the beta the moment it released. Then immediately went to settings to enable it. Still waiting…

Apple has indicated weeks is the wait time to get in if you didn’t get into the first batch. And remember people Apple has said it’s slow rollout of features. So just be patient:)

Should not have been released at all if they do not have the ability for everyone to test this. This is apple. Literally no excuse.
It wasn’t released at all. This is a beta test and they will involve who and when they deem necessary to gather the information they need. You have no right to expect anything at this stage, and they clunked well choose not to extend the test further (although I don’t think they will). That being said this is the most half-backed and underwhelming image generation tool available. You’re better off just using one of the many tools already released by other companies: they are more flexible and produce better results.

Apple made a big mistake opting for OpenAI’s image generation style. It is very uncanny and had been discussed on the web for a year already for looking “creepy” and “giving headache” for some reason. The feature won’t look the same in the 5 years perspective, Apple MUST develop something their own that gives better images than generic AI-generated bullcrap

Wholeheartedly agree. That American accent was intolerable. Happy to use the British accent (also known as ‘English’) while I wait for the new features to be rolled out to Italian.

This must be the most un-Apple feature Apple has ever released. It feels like something you would find on AppStore at 3am and played with it for 10 minutes before deleting the app but for some reason it's integrated into iOS. I wonder what are Apple's long-term plans with this, if they even have any

I know lots of people on the Dev beta ring (me included) aren’t developers, but people should set their expectations accordingly.

Dev beta: to allow devs to identify and fix any issues that a forthcoming release may cause in their apps, and start to test new APIs etc. Also feedback to Apple any technical issues they encounter.

Public beta: a chance for users who can’t wait to try the newest iOS features to get early access to them and provide feedback.

It’s frustrating waiting, but people saying it’s ridiculous and getting angry at Apple should remember that this is a dev beta which they’re likely not the target audience for.

More than 24 hours? Heck I am now waiting 51 hours since I installed the developer beta, all the developers on apple seed also waiting not sure who actually got in on the 24th not anyone I know of. Oy well everything else new in 18.2 is working.
51 hours? EU users are going to be counting in years.

You could actually have the British English selected on 18.1 and still get AI as long as you had the region set to U.S.

iOS 18.2: Everything You Should Know About Image Playground

and now that I read the article and know "everything", I still don't need nor want it.
well it's not mandatory to upgrade or to use any functions offered to you.

always awesome to think Apple creates stuff just for the loudest voices...
