looking into this solution! I do not want to lose my open tabs or favorites though. hesitant to try anything that may lose those.
It kept my tabs and favorites! Only deleted my history and logged me out of all websites it seems.

Here's the settings I used. Highly recommend also turning of Private Relay and then restarting.

Yes, just did the same and can happily report safari is much snappier starting up now with all my existing tabs and favorites intact! Also logged out of everything but hopefully that will only be a temporary nuisance as I initially visit my “usuals”

Thank you to @archvile for reporting in on this that it significantly helped to resolve this behavior. I hadn’t even complained about it before as I just assumed it was normal

Does it fix this obnoxious iPadOS bug that happens even in apple's own apps like photos?

The app menu bleeds into the top menu bar. Started with 26.3 I think.

For me it feels choppy af, scrolling thru reddit, minimazing youtube video, facebook... Like promotion isnt working like it should be, like its stuck at 60 hz.
I had no problems with previous betas.

Very responsive but a really bad memory… just noticed icons redraw while changing through home screen pages.

Agree; the intermittent stutters are still there and worse when navigating from the App Switcher.

iPhone 17 Pro here.

I’m not looking forward to being the guinea pig though I suspect that will probably end up being the case. I will give it a couple of days, but it would be nice to possibly get feedback from one other person in the meantime considering the risky history of Apple’s often-times broken nonfunctional software.
You can't say you'll ever be a guinea pig with stable software. My Apple device was updated in early March, and since then I've updated with the IPSW file for every 26.4 beta they've released, including this Release Candidate.

I also think that instead of asking this question so often, you should check if there's a new update for the program in the Microsoft Store and update it if there is. That's a good sign that the program supports the new version.

You can also try starting the update process. When you select the IPSW file for a version not supported by the program, it will give you an error and ask you to update the program, and that's where it will end. It won't damage your device. And if it starts, it means the program is compatible and will complete successfully. This way you'll be better off than asking in a forum where 95% of the people are probably Mac users and won't be able to tell you much.

i woke up this morning to my 14PM at 100% battery, as it always is when i leave it plugged in over night. However after playing with it for a couple of minutes, business as usual, it actually fully shutdown and restarted with 1% battery! I also could not keep the phone powered on for long while plugged in, even after moving to a fast charger. It would not budge from 1%, it would stay powered on for a minute or two before shutting down and restarting again. this cycle went on for about an hour or two.

eventually, on one of these restart cycles while i left my phone plugged in, i found my phone magically powered back on at about 84% battery, instead of 1%. it's been acting as "normal" again since this morning. But I am a little hesitant to initiate an update when the device is unstable and could just lose power any second in the middle of it!

not sure what to do. I think the culprit is a 3rd party battery replacement I installed less than 3 months ago. It was GREAT at first, but I'm surprised it degraded so rapidly. I ordered an OEM battery so I think I am going to wait until it arrives and I install it, so I can safely install this IPSW. as much as I want 26.4 now I will just have to wait a couple of days

It really sounds like a hardware defect. I wouldn't do an upgrade in this state as you could brick it.

It could "just" be the battery, or something on the charging circuit / battery management system.

The bug where “Screen always on” does not keeps the screen on when screen locks.
Try’d to turn it off and on again, to see if it solves it, but no go.
It was there on beta 3, 4 and now on RC. Annoying!!!

What does that mean? If the screen locks it's not on. How do you want the screen to stay on when it locks? Or what is the expected behavior?

This is not true at all - I’ve had it start and then fail to update on more than a few occasions, which is why I consider it software that should only be used with caution. Asking for others to share their experience using the software is me exercising that caution.
If I am the first one to make a verified report of the software’s behavior, as has also been the case on other occasions, then yes; guinea pig I am.
Unfortunately, Apple Devices is the furthest thing imaginable from stable or predictable software, and there’s no telling what will happen any given day of the week until someone tries it.

Yet you continue to insist on using it over the highly stable and predictable OTA method. In all the years it’s been available not once have I ever experienced an issue that resulted in having to restart the update or restore the OS.

When you turn that option on, when the phone locks, the wallpaper is still showned.
That isn’t the case with 26.4 anymore sometimes, the phone locks and the wallpaper do not shows.

Do you have Settings>Display & Brightness>Always On Display>Always On Display turned on, Show Wallpaper turned on, Blur Wallpaper Photo turned off?

I just don’t have Blur wallpaper on, because I don’t want it to fade. Always have it that way and always worked until 26.4 betas. Sometimes the screen does black.
