The iphone 12 is only worth $100 so why spend $120 on an Apple battery. I'm waiting for next iPhone with user-replaceable battery as mandated by EU legislation to become law soon.
Nah, opt-out due to water resistance requirements.

Samsung's Galaxy S5 has an easily replaceable battery and is IP67 certified. Released 11 years ago. I don't see why Apple couldn't make a (as compact as before) device with IP68 and easily swappable battery.

I don't understand how people think that making batteries easily replaceable automatically means water resistance has to go.

That being said, I don't think it absolutely needs to be tool-less. Apple's battery glue that dissolves when electricity is applied is quite an elegant solution. Make opening the phone up a bit easier and most people should be able to replace the battery themselves.

The main problem is that an official replacement battery kit is up to $119 (16 Pro), which is at least 3x as much as it should cost I feel like.

I see in the weather app there's news at the top before anything related to weather. Any way to turn that off ?

Strange, for me it’s just below the ten-day forecast where it’s always been. I’m wondering if maybe stories deemed more important get elevated to the top? Have you check any other locations to see if it’s the same? Maybe a reboot might fix it if it’s a bug

Does anyone else have an issue in Notes using link shortcut >> ?
As soon as I type >> the app crashes.

File a Feedback case , so it will be fixed in the upcoming betas.
And have you tried to restart your iPhone ?

Can’t find a way to get to the emoji keyboard.

That emoji button next to the “123” key won’t do it for you? Or are you looking for something else?

Do you have the emoji keyboard installed? (Settings—>General—>Keyboard) My daughter said some of her keyboards weren’t there after installing iOS 26 so she had to re-add them..

Don’t have any news on mine up top.
This had me curious, so I researched. It's Apple's choice only, with no control given to the user. If Apple sees fit to post a related news post on the weather app, they'll push it - even if the News app has been deleted

I've seen this periodically myself, but nothing for months (or quite a long time)

Messages still not reliably syncing between iPhone and iPad, even when a manual sync is done by iCloud settings. Reported, feedback ID: FB18181154

I am too. I think I was the first to mention this literally after the revised beta released. If I restart it works for like a minute then stops. Something on the revised beta broke it

My 14 Pro Max didn't get the revised beta. It's been like this since day one of iOS 26. A restart does nothing. I did report it in the Feedback App. It works fine in Settings>Wallpaper.

I have it and no, the button doesn’t open the emojis. Just the stickers.

You have stickers open. When you tap the emoji button please make sure you tap the “<“ key thats right next to the abc key. It should hide stickers and pull back up your emojis.
Ah, this worked. But it’s quite confusing experience, in my opinion.

Thanks!

True. And I’d hope that they are maybe trying out different things in different apps… but it seems a bit all over the place and inconsistent right now
To be honest iOS18 was not stable either and had plenty of bugs. Well at least now they are being bold and have a reason for things to be broken 😂

In my experience, public or even developer betas were not significantly less stable than officially “stable” releases. You can get some minor annoyances with early betas like widgets freezing up occasionally etc. But other than that, most bugs I encountered not only carried over early beta iOS18 to stable releases, they actually remain in early betas of iOS26 as well… Your widgets are still launching their apps if you swipe back to the homepage over them too fast… 🤷

I have noticed an unfixed bug carrying over from many previous versions (years) of iOS - the date does not change at midnight but shortly thereafter. For a short period the phone still displays yesterdays date
