The keyboard in iOS 26 is way better than iOS 18 imo.

Faster and more precise typing with no lag for me, with better predictive text & auto correction which is great.

Not everyone is happy but I really don’t have any bad things to say about iOS 26.

Performance boost ☑️

Super fast animations ☑️

Super smooth across iOS ☑️

Gorgeous new design visuals ☑️

More customisation ☑️

Solid battery life even on betas ☑️

Definitely agree with the keyboard comments!

That's if you had an older version of the ChatGPT app installed, 'Get' would say 'Update'...basically like it does in the App Store. But that has nothing to do with what version the Siri integration uses anyway. ChatGPT through Siri is still using GPT-4. It doesn't matter if you have the app installed or not.
Yeah that’s what I was getting at. There is no way to “update” Siri’s ChatGPT version here, as was being indicated.

RC always usually has UI bug fixes and changes. They wouldn’t let the iOS 18 wallpaper be in 26 RC. It may be a long two weeks till we get it, but as long as my phone feels stable, nothing crashes, battery is long, I should be fine waiting. I’m looking forward to see what the final version looks like.

If you want to keep iOS 18 wallpaper, set it and save it as one of your setups. I have them all going a few years back, even though they’re not available in the options menu anymore.

Performance boost ☑️ vs 18????

Super fast animations ☑️ they are so fast may as well turn it off. No fluidity. Seems like a bug.

Super smooth across iOS ☑️ - I’m on 16 Pro and safari stutters, icon refresh, keyboard is constantly types B,N,V instead of spacebar. Control center looks forgotten.

Gorgeous new design visuals ☑️ what design? It’s an inconsistent mess. What design?

More customisation ☑️ ok, great. Which ones?

Solid battery life even on betas ☑️ ok maybe starting with beta 6. Before that it was a heat pad.

One thing I do like is finally we can copy text out of text messages. Onlybtook (b instead of spacebar) about 18 years.

But I guess better late than never.

Battery/heat seems significantly improved with beta 8. Battery life isn’t sinking so fast, and my phone hasn’t been getting unusually hot at random times. Maybe this was an optimization type of update?

Battery life and heat management are much worse on this beta than on the previous one. 16PM. Phone is used as everyday.

Performance boost vs iOS 18, yes! Maybe they just sped everything up. Feels so fast, love it!

Super smooth with no stutters for me! No keyboard issues like those. Random flickers have gone on PB5.

New design is a refreshing change and the Liquid Glass effect looks great imo and not a mess.

Customisation, more choice with how the app icons look now with transparency & colours, the new depth effect and clock on lock screen. Again love these additions.

Clearly not everyone is happy with some of the changes! I’m all for it 👌🏻

I was just talking about the iOS 18 default wallpaper showing up in display settings, which should be changed to iOS 26 default wallpaper by RC

I'm not adventurous enough to load the beta on my phone, but I did put it on my M1 11" iPad Pro.

Visually, it's both bolder and a bit tackier. I can't say that I particularly like or dislike the redesign. It is what it is.

I did experience a couple bugs, the most noticeable one is the hesitation / momentary hangup when swiping from the Home Screen to App Library. It doesn't happen when I make a longer swipe all the way to the edge, which makes me think this is not related to the performance of older hardware, but rather the OS getting confused for a second when doing a shorter swipe.

The performance so far seems the same. The battery life is similar? Too early to tell.

Some changes are nice - e.g. the Preview app. The ability to export Notes as markdown files could be useful, although it's held back by not being able to export them in bulk. Or at least I don't see a way to do that. Perhaps via Shorcuts?

The biggest thing is window multitasking and I have no opinion on that so far. I need to play with it a lot more. I wish they kept the old features as well (slide over and split screen).

I am taking a risk since I put the betas on my daily drivers

ah... I have the same issue with the App Library "hesitating". When swiping fast, it is fluid. Also M1 11" pro.

Apple never promised you a personal concierge. If you're reporting things that other people have reported, why would you expect a personalized reply?
Huh? I don’t say I did.
It’s just that I sometimes report some apparently fringe issues that others don’t report. One of the times I got a reply it was „check if this issue still exists in the latest build“. Problem was I reported the issue on an outdated Mac that couldn’t run the most recent build. So one of the two replies were actually useless.
I don’t need more of that.

I certainly have thanks for asking !
I noticed some of those glitches and bugs you guys referring to, but I think it will be ironed out (hopefully), just fingers crossed
Apple fixed little to no visual bugs in the last 2 weeks and even introduces some new ones.
I would have blind hope it will all be fixed in the next two weeks.
I wouldn’t call this finished and I probably won’t call the RC finished.
Usually you add things prior to release so they can be publicly tested. How are we supposed to test missing animations? Or give feedback on „fixes“ when there are none?

Anyone else missing audible Email notifications? I have had two this morning where the screen lit up and showed a notification but there was no audible. Volume is up, account is set for all notification types including audible and I'm not in silent mode. This seems random.... sometimes there is an audible. Sometimes not.

I filed a feedback, just wondering if I'm the only one.

When you tap and hold on the Home Screen and tap "edit pages", then immediately tap "done", the screen locks up. Can anyone else confirm?
Works fine for me. (iP16)

So much negativity on here lol

Debating on whether to upgrade my iPhone to the beta lol
Just do it. Some here are fairly dramatic with "micro" stutters or 3 millisecond icon refreshes vs 2 milliseconds. Or some random process of keypresses to try and make it do something wonky so they can write about it. iOS (or any OS) isn't perfect. Never has been or will be. Overall iOS 26.0 (still in beta), works just as well as iOS 18.6.1 for everyday use. Also you can always go back if you really think its that bad (get a good backup of course.)

I am actually loving the changes, performance, and battery life.
