Anyone know how to fix the wallpaper being dark? I’ve tried the toggle on the home screen where you change icons but that barely does anything. Sometimes it’s bright like it used to be on 18 but most of the time it’s dimmed
Let me know if you figure it out, cause it’s been a constant annoyance since the first beta. Starting to think this is designed that way, and I really wish they would use the ios 18 level of dim

Every time I open the App Store, the music for the featured app on the Today tab starts playing, even if I have my phone silenced. I have to tap the mute button in the top left corner of the advertisement to turn off the music. Not sure if this is a bug or just a problem with the current app being featured.

In the App Store settings you can turn off auto play videos.

Is it only me having Wi-Fi issues on the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest few betas? When it's close to the router, it's OK, however in an adjacent room the signal is reported as low, there are problems opening pages, the iPhone often switches between Wi-Fi and 5G, and Speed Test reports awfully slow speeds. On my iPad Mini 6 with the same beta, there are no issues at all, the signal is strong, the speed is high. This started with some of the recent betas, maybe with dev beta 7, maybe earlier, not sure, but still not solved in dev beta 8. I tried everything, forgot the network and rejoined it, reset network settings but it doesn't help.

Same issue! I figured it out this morning it was the "auto play videos" setting in app store settings. Was driving me crazy too and hitting the speaker icon every time! :)

I'm having a peculiar bug in which apps that are in folders have their light mode icon, but once I open the folder it switches to dark mode. Only some apps. Teams being the most prominent one because its a white icon vs. black. Teams had an update today but it did not fix it so I am assuming its an iOS issue. Its also only when they are in folders. If I move Teams out of a folder it remains the correct icon color. Applies to clear and tinted as well.

Additional Notes

To get the beta over-the-air:
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings > General > Software Updates > Beta Updates)
  2. Make sure you’re signed into the right Apple Account
  3. Select which beta you’d like to receive (public/developer beta)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Back up to a computer or to iCloud
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple Account to reset this setting)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to go back to a release build
Troubleshooting: If the beta doesn’t show up on your phone, try turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off, or restart your device.

How to install using a Mac?
  1. You’ll need the Xcode beta itself or a MobileDevice.pkg somebody extracted from the beta (click with two fingers or control-click), then choose Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/Resources/Packages. - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode betas)
  2. Back up to your Mac or to iCloud in case you need to go back to another version
  3. Hold down Option, then click on ‘Check for Update’/‘Restore iPhone...’ and select the IPSW file you downloaded from the Apple Developer site. Note: You must be connected to the internet to complete the restore.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode if you’re prompted to do so.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your phone
  • Restoring wipes your settings and all data on your iPhone
  • You only need to reinstall MobileDevice.pkg if your Mac stops recognizing your iPhone
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • Upgrading to a newer iPhone? You can update using your Mac before setting up the phone

Historical beta release chart
Not sure if this is new but new to me and beats tapping multiple times in safrai to get to all my windows after the minimalist safari change. Now you can just swipe up from over the address bar and see all your windows. Saves me much time.

Save yourself the headaches. Been said many times in here if you have to question installing probably shouldn’t. It meant to be beta tested….ldo you usually beta test ?
Yes I do been running the beta on my iPad since dev beta 1 lol

Is this the same thing as the swiping up on the address barn to reveal all the tabs? Cause that’s in iOS 18 for sure

This is pretty bad. I suspect it's just marketing allowing these things, since the marketing department seems to be taking over Apple. I won't be able to update apps in meetings, or any place else where silly loud music isn't allowed. Right now, I update whenever I think of it, now I'll have to choose when I do updates. It's not the end of the world, but it is another example of how Apple Marketing is making the user experience worse.

You could just disable video autoplay in the App Store settings, but, sure, making a mountain out of this is more fun I guess.

So much negativity on here lol

Debating on whether to upgrade my iPhone to the beta lol
I mean, the most negative posters already went back to 18.6 a couple betas ago. (Me included. I just lurk to see if it got any better… spoiler: it hasn’t.) these threads are pretty civil compared to the first couple betas.

The issue where the lock screen is dim with photo shuttle is still happening.

Hopefully they get it figured out soon.

I’m exactly the same. I’m back to 18.6 on both my 16pm and iPad Pro. For me it is just so much better looking. I think I’m going to be in the minority but I prefer what we have now to liquid glass.

I didn't know that setting is there. I never needed to bypass Apple marketing when updating apps. Thanks for the info.

I still contend that Apple Marketing is getting more intrusive. At this rate we'll be having to watch ads before answering a phone call, like Amazon makes us watch ads to watch Amazon Prime content that we already pay for. Does Apple really need to play music and videos when we open the App Store to update our apps? Of course not.

I tend not to be a negative person, but there are some obvious visual stuff with DP8 - stuff that Apple could have and should have fixed - stuff like inconsistencies in functionality of slider switches in Settings, missing app icons in Settings menus, stuttering, etc. None of it would be "show stopper" level, but it screams "half-@$$ed development". With that said, I'm generally quite pleased with the liquid glass theming, and have it on my daily iPhone and iPad.

If you can overlook the nits, I say "go for it". If you can't overlook the nits, the RC/GM/GA releases won't impress you, either.

Won’t likely !
You can’t know now - they still have 2 weeks - fingers crossed still!

I sold my 15 PM - and got an 16e until I get the 17 PM in three weeks!

It runs fluid on the 16e the 8th beta !
