Not sure if this is new but new to me and beats tapping multiple times in safrai to get to all my windows after the minimalist safari change. Now you can just swipe up from over the address bar and see all your windows. Saves me much time.
Thanks for the tip "Now you can just swipe up from over the address bar and see all your windows." YES, it does save a lot of time.

14P here, first time installing this beta, and there’s one weird animation that might be a fairly unique use case. I have “raise to wake” disabled, and when I want to unlock, I just swipe up on the always-on display. Previously this worked like any other unlock, but with this beta, it shows the passcode screen briefly before doing a FaceID unlock.

Does anyone else use the Today View?

I'm not able to create stacks by sliding widgets on top of each other. I can do it elsewhere then drag the entire stack to that page, but can't on the page itself. Feedback is a standard "none" and "open" which means no-one has looked at it, but it could just be me 😁

This is pretty bad. I suspect it's just marketing allowing these things, since the marketing department seems to be taking over Apple. I won't be able to update apps in meetings, or any place else where silly loud music isn't allowed. Right now, I update whenever I think of it, now I'll have to choose when I do updates. It's not the end of the world, but it is another example of how Apple Marketing is making the user experience worse.
Ready to eat your words when this is fixed and not an issue anymore?
In general, an (system) app that simply ignores the user preferenced silent mode isn’t a good sell. Especially when it’s supposed to sell. This would only make the voices in the rest of the world louder to allow third party stores like in the EU, not a very desirable outcome.
Not everything is intentional, not everything is a conspiracy.

I mean, the most negative posters already went back to 18.6 a couple betas ago. (Me included. I just lurk to see if it got any better… spoiler: it hasn’t.) these threads are pretty civil compared to the first couple betas.
Went the opposite route. Downloaded (and hated) it in the beginning, went back to 18, and back again on the beta train with beta 3. Been miserable ever since 😄 just wanted to get ahead of September, should have spent the remaining time with 18 when i still had the chance

Edit: i have to thank iOS 26 for the lower case i, what is up with that?

I didn't know that setting is there. I never needed to bypass Apple marketing when updating apps. Thanks for the info.

I still contend that Apple Marketing is getting more intrusive. At this rate we'll be having to watch ads before answering a phone call, like Amazon makes us watch ads to watch Amazon Prime content that we already pay for. Does Apple really need to play music and videos when we open the App Store to update our apps? Of course not.
Watching ads before or during a video or movie is really not a new thing.
You’re getting ahead of yourself i think.

If you can easily restore from an .ipsw file, try it. I’m retired and had the time to experiment and restore.

I’d suggest downloading the ipsw file first from ipsw.me … just in case.
Definitely. Had way, way too many lengthy software downloads just corrupt shortly before completion using Finder or iTunes to download them.

No, it's not just you. Editing and adding widgets to create stacks on the Today screen is a cluster****. Like you, the only way I could make it work was to create the stack on a normal page and drag the stack to the Today screen.

I am on the latest developer beta on my work iPad 9th generation and actually have very few complaints. Battery life is solid, perhaps even better than 18. I do occasionally get the bouncing keyboard bug when it is minimized. In general, I like transparency, so the new design language doesn't bother me. Also, I am glad they found the processing power to allow multiple app windows on such "old" devices. Can't innovate my a$$. ;)

Does anyone feel like the voice to text is wonky? I've been using it a lot and i've had to go back and make so many corrections compared to before the beta.

Every time I open the App Store, the music for the featured app on the Today tab starts playing, even if I have my phone silenced. I have to tap the mute button in the top left corner of the advertisement to turn off the music. Not sure if this is a bug or just a problem with the current app being featured.
I'm thinking it's a bug. It didn't play sound on beta 7 and it doesn't play sound on iOS 18.6.2. Even with sound on or in silent mode it didn't play with volume. And yes both phones have and always had Video Autoplay ON. It caught me off guard today as well. Either way I hope they fix it.

Anyone know how to fix the wallpaper being dark? I’ve tried the toggle on the home screen where you change icons but that barely does anything. Sometimes it’s bright like it used to be on 18 but most of the time it’s dimmed

Yes, but forgot. It's on the beta 7 thread. I think. Hold on.

Check in Settings > General > Screen Capture. If it's checked on SDR, switch it to HDR. That worked for me. I had put it out on the beta 6 thread.

Let me know if you figure it out, cause it’s been a constant annoyance since the first beta. Starting to think this is designed that way, and I really wish they would use the ios 18 level of dim

On my 15PM, the changes from b7 to b8 are much smaller than the changes from any previous iOS 26 betas. To me, it feels like very little time and effort was put into improving beta 8 over beta 7.

At this late stage in the beta process, maybe they’re focusing on under the hood things, tightening up the code, squeezing out a bit more battery life.

But I’m not seeing any improvements in performance or battery life or anything else in beta 8.

Not that b7 was bad.

I’m holding out hope that the RC will be a big leap forward. We’ll probably have to wait two weeks for that. 😕

Is it only me having Wi-Fi issues on the iPhone 15 Pro Max with the latest few betas? When it's close to the router, it's OK, however in an adjacent room the signal is reported as low, there are problems opening pages, the iPhone often switches between Wi-Fi and 5G, and Speed Test reports awfully slow speeds. On my iPad Mini 6 with the same beta, there are no issues at all, the signal is strong, the speed is high. This started with some of the recent betas, maybe with dev beta 7, maybe earlier, not sure, but still not solved in dev beta 8. I tried everything, forgot the network and rejoined it, reset network settings but it doesn't help.

I surmise you did not file a feedback to let Apple know that, in comparison with your iPad Mini, the network stack of your iPhone 15 Pro Max struggled in certain situations.
