I'm having a peculiar bug in which apps that are in folders have their light mode icon, but once I open the folder it switches to dark mode. Only some apps. Teams being the most prominent one because its a white icon vs. black. Teams had an update today but it did not fix it so I am assuming its an iOS issue. Its also only when they are in folders. If I move Teams out of a folder it remains the correct icon color. Applies to clear and tinted as well.

Not just you.
HP Smart and others for me are day in folder and dark when expanded.
Clips and others are dark in folder and day when expanded.

Been that way for the last couple of betas.

Most of my issues revolve around Safari.
- pages will come up in day mode instead of dark mode. Worked fine on 18.
- pages will freeze during load (changing address from A to B) but load just fine when from a bookmark (attached example)
- stutters randomly showing up
- thumbnails will sometimes load as a grey block

This is on an iPadPro11/M4

Even the keyboard is terrible in this beta. At least on the 16 Plus. I’ve never made this many typos on any beta or iOS version. Laggy and doesn’t register keys correctly. They need to throw this beta in the dumpster and start over.

Battery is solid on my secondary device (12 Pro Max), but it is terrible on my 16 Pro Max. I’m getting worse battery on a 16PM with 99% battery health than on a 12PM With 93% battery health. Idle drain on the 16 with no apparent cause.
That’s really surprising — you’d expect the 16 Pro Max with 99% health to outlast a 12 Pro Max at 93%, but clearly something’s off. Sounds like background processes or iOS quirks are eating away at the battery on idle. Hopefully a software update smooths it out, because the hardware definitely shouldn’t be the weak link here.

It wasn’t, until this most recent beta.

I last charged to 85%, and it’s drained 24% doing absolutely nothing. As you can see, there’s barely any screen on and screen off time. I’ve also tried hard resetting, twice.

I was playing a local video on the phone last night (16 pro max) using VLC when the screen went black. I thought at first it was some sort of power save or app crash, but quickly found the phone had completely shut off. It wasn’t hot, had 89% charge and was only about two minutes into the video. I’ve never had any phone ever go into an instant shutdown, and I’ve been using custom roms, modding kernels and tweaking systems for many years on android and even back to Symbian days.

After a few days on public beta 5 with my 16 Pro I don’t think it’s as good as the last beta, and many others on here by reading this thread.

There appears to be more visual glitches here and there. I pulled down the notification lock screen and the apps on the Home Screen were still visible for a second at the same time as the lock screen was fully down, it looked a mess.

There are more instances of the device feeling slightly warm during normal use.

When adding or editing lockscreens it gets warm fast and the battery starts draining quicker.

Just done a hard reset and when it powered back on the battery had dropped by 7%
Similar behaviour with my 16PM, in addition the battery drops generally quicker with b8 compared to b7.

Not just you.

Yep, for me as well

On the iPad in the Apple mail app if you go into the trash folder there is no dedicated select/select all to delete the email all at once and that also goes for the junk folder on the ipad

Wait a min, iOS now has multistream audio. Took all of 20 years to implement. God damn this is a QoL thing. The amount of times your music stops because of a random Reddit video…
I’d say it’s not something new… I can watch Instagram reels since more than a year.

One-handed keyboard is broken.
I have mine set to "right", and now it's full-size until I type the first letter.
I've restarted, added/removed keyboards, set it in settings - nothing fixes it. It's a bug.

Here, the clear and the dismiss button should be flipped. Also, instead of the blue checkmark, I would use the neutral “X” for close, as in the App Store when the profile sheet is opened.

I agree, it’s the same for me — the visual effects aren’t great and they probably drain the battery even more.

I can confidently state, that is this one of the worst Betas, specifically Beta 8s that I have ran since iOS 12 days (which had 12 betas). Previously, I always jumped on the beta train around Beta 3 or 4. Usually when the PB dropped. However, as I have gotten older and more reliant on devices for work, I have waited until Beta 7 or 8.

I am running Beta 8 on an M1 iPad Pro, 16PM, 15PM and 14P. Every single device has different bugs than the other devices. Very little consistency. Battery drain is all over the place. One day it will be rock solid and the next, depleted in a few hours. All devices are at 95%+ battery health. My iPad Pro has taken the worst hit on battery life. Lucky to get even 4 hours of SOT.

While I know its a beta and not complaining about bugs, its the inconsistency that worries me. Yes, the RC is usually significantly more polished as Beta 8 probably has a few week old compile date, I'm still concerned about what the iPhone 17 will bring in only a couple of weeks. I'm part of the upgrade program, so once i trade in my 16PM, there is no going back to iOS 18 on my primary device. Really hope the RC is more polished than this.

In any event, that's my .02 cents. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. :)
