the new wallpaper is soooo ugly, i don't understand why they made that one standard.

Because the person(s) who choose it have better taste than you?

Ugly? Hardly. How are water droplets on glass ugly? You may not like it, I think it looks cool. Regardless, you can easily change it. So who gives a ****?

They said that it was the GM, but I think they would at least try to fine tune it a little. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

the gold master is the gold master. release candidates are used for fine tuning, unless there's a show stopper bug that was somehow missed they won't change the gold master one bit (literally) as it would require another round of qa/beta testing.

anyone know what the benefits of iOS4 will be for 3G users?
Obviously most of the features wont work on this model because of technical restrictions, so what will? is it even worth updating? or will iOS4 just suck more battery life than ever before?

i am looking forward to putting os4 on my wifes iphone 3g but does anyone know if the battery percentage feature that is on the 3gs will be part of 0s 4?

And when I sync my 3G, it shows the folders and the new dock, but the background is black...looks like the 3G really isn't getting wallpapers :( While I understand the no-multitasking and the no video recording on the 3G, there is no good reason why the 3G can't have custom wallpapers.
Yes, you have to jailbreak for multitasking and wallpaper on the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G.

lol you can see they just stuck a cutout iPhone onto the box :D saved some money instead of throwing away the original packaging and replacing them... or is it fake?? probably not :D

I say fake. Looks like he slid an iPod or iPhone with 4.0 Beta under the wrapper to me. Why is that the only picture? Seems as likely you would get the "new" 3GS as 4. Apple not shipping that 8 GB till the 24th.

Battery life is so far the same, if not a little better.

Performance however, is terrible. It's about half the speed 3.1.3 was and 1/4 what 2.2.1 was. Just abominable.

so because this is a thread about the iOS4, I have a question about updating!

so when I update will I lose all my textmessaging and personal settings:confused:! this doesn't sound that important but I have alot of messages I want to keep on my phone and because I can't back it up?

so small story short! will I lose everything i customized on my Iphone

You shouldn't lose any of your settings or text messages, but it is worth letting iTunes complete a full backup (even though this takes ages) just to be on the safe side.

Why can't you back it up?

because they said I needed to have mobile me for backing up your textmessages but I never realized until now! that when your phone backs up he also backs up your messages! I taught the just backed up your notes and contacts

My mistake

On closer inspection, looks like the photo was taken at some retail outlet, and maybe it's real.....

In no particular order...folders, consolidated inbox, e-mail message threading, spell check, text message searching, Events/Faces/Places for photos, web search suggestions, playlist creation, iBooks, IMAP notes syncing, and lots of other random features and UI tweaks.

Anyone holding off on iOS4 until they get iPhone 4 so it feels even newer? I haven't decided yet.

This may keep me entertained enough that I wont be salivating so much for an iPhone 4.

Ahhh who am I kidding.

And how would one do this exactly doing a complete back-up! Itunes makes back-ups automaticly for me?

I've found 4.0 actually runs a ton better on my 3g than 3.0 did. Application opening and closing animations are smooth, there's no lag when scrolling through menus, things open quicker. Strangely enough I did have a bit of slowdown for 1 or 2 days, but it seemed to disappear. I've been running 4.0 now since the GM was released and it's made my 3g snappy enough again to make me a happy owner until the iPhone 4 comes out.
