Can anyone answer me if there is any difference between the GM and the public release of ios 4 besides the fact that I have the game center? Has anything at all changed in the slightest?

Wait, there is no porn folder?

Oh that's right, it's called Safari =p

IOS is much faster on my 3GS.
The only thing that I see that needs work is a close all apps button.

Wifi not working on my 3G

Am I alone that have seen my wifi not working anymore after upgrading to iOS4?
I have a 3G and I cannot detect any wifi network anymore from the config panel or a wifi tracker (WifiTrack app) and there is like 14 around (my iMac is seeing them all).

anyone know how to skip the backup stage? it's freezing at 10% like another poster had mentioned.

Can someone please confirm:

Can you now send text messages via Voice Control or something else? You know, something like what Android has built in?

thanks

Installed ios4. Took about 20 mins to download and 15 mins to install (odd that it didn't back up the phone).. First impressions: folders are a godsend, and the speed and fluidity are amazing. Most notably the maps app which takes far less time to load maps and is much smoother and fluid moving around. My pictures (taken with the 3GS) seem sharper, but that just might be me looking into things too closely. Can't figure out how to search threads though, overall a solid update and I feel much better (all though I still want one) not pre-ordering iPhone 4.

Not thrilled with multitasking

I actually don't like the fact that I can no longer quit an app by just closing it. I don't want every single thing that I open left running in the background when i'm done with it. It's now a multi-step effort to close an app. Not liking it as much as I thought I would.

I tend to agree, but at least it seems quitting an app doesn't take forever (you only have to hold for a sec) but it still is not ideal.

i wish there were more apps like beejive or whatsapp that utilize the fast app switiching

+1

I hope they update soon and bring a simple method the quit all tasks.

I never missed multitasking anyway.

They don't really run in the background.

Can a user not put folders within folders? i've created a folder called "games," but now i want to add folders within this one such as "cards," "board," etc. it's not very useful if i have to search through dozens of apps in my games folder.

I just dedicated a page for games, and then classified them into different genres... Something like this... *attachment*

Still in the works, though.

Birthday Calendar Colour

Anyone knows how to change the colour of the birthday calendar? Or a work-around?

I know iOS 4 has already got a lot of coverage but we are doing our own walk throughs of the OS on our site this week. Our first post is up and over the next few days we are going to post some detailed posts and videos on some of the smaller features of the OS. You can check it out here:
http://www.appezzy.com/ios-4-new-and-improved-features

Also we might be doing some live coverage from the lines at Valley Fair Thursday, looking forward to seeing the iPhone 4 in real life!

Mobile Me

I did a rest on my phone and then installed 4.0.....on my iphone 3G. Took about 15min.....
Mobileme mail is the only service that works. Contacts, Cal, and books marks wont download. Does anyone else have this issue or know of a fix? Stupid 4.0

whats the deal with the folders...Surley you can put more icons in them. I have tons of games and would like them all to fit in gaming folder. Any ideas how to fit them all in
Twelve is your limit. And stop calling me Shirley.

Just categorize your games, you could even do it alphabetically if you had to. I personally have CasualGames and OtherGames and that covers them all.

Everything is on the first screen now including 7 folders. Very nice.

Okay after updating I find I have 1 photo in my camera roll which is a ? and below it is THM it's grayed out and can not be deleted. Anyone know what this is??

So far I have not had any problems with IOS 4 on my 2nd Gen Ipod Touch like others have been saying. Still seems to be similar in speed to IOS 3. Little disappointed about lack of multi-tasking and other features, but it is hard to complain about it since Apple said they wouldn't be available for it. Folders work quite amazingly. I jammed most of my apps into folders and cleaned up my 12 screens into 3.

update for me took about an hour and a bit.
i don't know what all the fuss about iOS4 and the 3g is all about.
mine runs pretty damn fast. no problems right now

im loving iOS4 =)

Updated..

My iPod Touch 2G is faster than ever. Just don't load it up with useless apps and you will definitely see a performance increase.
