Great!

Now how about we consider getting rid of "newsstand"? Or at least giving users the option to. Along with many other useless Apple apps that can't be deleted?

Now that would be even better.

Wrong again. Apple was maintianing and building the Apps. Not Google. This has been documented. It's also the reason why Google's web app's works WAY better than the stock iOS apps.

Did I say anywhere Google was updating the Apple created iOS apps? No.

I said Apple likely didn't prevent Google from releasing their own versions on the App Store. Google just had no incentive to do so.

Great, when will they get rid of the rest of the useless undeletable stuff, like Reminders, Notes, Calendar, worst of all Newsstand (since it can't be dumped in a folder)? Just give me Phone and App Store (with the ability to download "stock apps" through there) and we'll be golden

I use reminders, notes, and calendar on the regular =/

good riddance

it amazes me how this forum can be full of close minded apple fanboys

youtube is awesome

i can't think of a single person who doesn't or hasnt used it.

anyways looking fwd to more google products on the iphone.

they can certainly improve on them.

unlike the junky icloud service

Good for Apple. They shouldn't give Google any on-board benefits, with Google having decided to stick a knife in Apple's back (Android).

Now...where is Apple's search service? Time to kick Google to the curb entirely. Why feed Google's search service when Google is trying to eat Apple's services? It makes no sense.

Mobile youtube is still better.. Just create a Icon on your home page.

I've had youtube stuck in a junk folder along with stocks and weather.

They've not updated it in years so no loss.

Weather was actually updated in iOS 5.

Quite obviously the "fanboys" you mention don't hate YouTube, but the app provided by Apple instead. The app was absolutely horrendous.

Apple takes away, and the followers cough up excuse after excuse.

Others bash it and say they never used it... No wonder Apple's got it made.

Free to do whatever they want, knowing a great portion of their user base will be there to defend their every move.

It's Apple at it's finest. They simply cannot do anything wrong.

It's good to be Apple... price hike anyone?

To be honest, Apple shouldn't be doing this. Its fine if they remove a Google app from their OS, but they should at least replace it with an equivalent application.
If they don't, it benefits no one.

They are now giving you the option to 1) download the *hopefully frequently* updated Youtube app from the App Store or 2) use the updated Youtube app on safari. I, for one, think this puts more pressure on Google to update the damn application because it lacked ALOT in it's current form.

The YouTube app was one of the best features on iOS in my opinion.

Of course you can access it with Safari but who wants to! The YouTube app is perfectly simple and user friendly and I use it every day.

You are 100 percent wrong. Google has already issued a statement on Maps and Apple just released one stating Google was working on a YouTube app.

Google wants ad revenue from millions of iOS users too.

I hope he's 100% wrong also, but am I right in remembering that google initially promised the turn-by-turn directions capability for iphone-- when they first came out with it for android?

Don't think anyone is saying they don't like YouTube. Even though it's full of funny pet videos and attention-seeking teens there are some great movies and documentaries on there.

People aren't too bothered about the loss of the YouTube App because its always been under-specced and therefore redundant.

I really loved having youtube on the iphone, because there are no annoying advertisements, damn you google, there going to make an advert filled rubbish iphone app, i can bet on that.

Off topic, but this guy phoned himself 7 times before taking that screenshot to look popular.

Who doesn't check their missed calls?? ;)

Whats wrong with those apps? I use them on a daily basis.

Many of us don't. And those who don't have to shove them in folders somewhere, still taking up precious space from my 16/32/64GB iDevice.

As long as there's a way to download them from the App Store for people who need them, there's no reason to include them as stock.

And people complain about carries including bloatware on Android phones

If the license has ended for IOS devices why is it still on the Apple TV ?

That's an IOS device.

Well you can bet Apple needed a separate license/agreement to put it on Apple TV so it could last longer, it's also a more core component as Apple TV is all about video and doesn't have an app store.

That said, maybe they do plan to remove it. After all, there is no Apple TV beta.

Wow. There are no words.

Apple originally had a YouTube app because YouTube videos were encoded in flash. And the iPhone would have been a poorer phone for not having SOME diverse apps when it launched. Apple benefited greatly from having a YouTube App on their phone. And they signed an agreement. One that just ended.

Google sticking a knife in Apple's back is your opinion. You're awfully emotional about an OS and a piece of electronics.

And good luck getting Apple to create a search engine that can even remotely compete with Google. Seriously. Good luck.

I'd love to see how well your Siri's results are if they decided to go with your plan and eliminate using Google right now....

So...when are they going to allow us to remove the rest of the pre-installed apps that are never used, like Newstand?

Great!

Now how about we consider getting rid of "newsstand"? Or at least giving users the option to. Along with many other useless Apple apps that can't be deleted?

They could easily implement something in settings to "turn off" (hide) certain native applications.

Yeah, finally a proper app for youtube...

:(

I didn't really like the App but I liked the ease of having content inside an app. Guess it will be gone.

But I find it surprising that people are wishing well that Google will release an upgraded app to suffice the needs of all Youtube app users. There is not a single Google app in the App Store that is up to the standards of basic apps on iOS. Apps like Search, GMail, GoogleApps are all practically **** in terms of functionality, features and user experience.

Nevertheless, I will desperately wait for the Youtube app. I hope, its just not a scaled UIWebview.

Youtube has been a poor performer on all my Apple devices and in Safari. It is slow and a bit unstable. The conspiracy theorist in me says that Google has code in there to throttle the site if you are not on Android/Chrome.

Since Apple writes the apps that utilize Google's services, I'm sure they're at fault. Google makes its revenue through people using their services, and the thought that they would throttle the use of those services just because it is on a different OS is counter-intuitive.
