This benefits no one.

It benefits every single video provider that competes with YouTube. And also lets Google release updates and develop it without having to work as closely with Apple, which benefits Google if they would prefer to release a product with their vision instead of Apple's.

It's too bad the Newsstand app is not also Google's, so they could get rid of that one too.

This makes sense. Apple is moving away from Google and it makes no sense for Apple to develop this on their behalf anyway. Google will develop their own official YouTube app and that is how it should be.

Apple's YouTube app didn't have every feature you might want BUT it was very nicely designed! So I hope Google does a really good job designing and implementing their app and I hope they get it on the App Store without a huge delay after iOS 6 comes out! Oh... and it better be universal!

P.S. THIS IS THE TIME to implement HTML5 mobile ads for all the YouTubers Google! Don't blow it.

That screenshot aint the real default. Passbook was always on the home screen from iOS 6 Beta 1. Youtube was never on the 1st page in any of the iOS 6 betas. Passbook is prob on his 2nd screen..

Good riddance! This app has never performed well anyways and gotten to the point where no matter what you press something has to error out.

Posting comments doesn't always work, YouTube not available always would pop up and so forth.

haha.. i love all of the newsstand hate. It's all funny and seems pretty universal.

Old media is dead. Nobody cares about a magazine anymore.

That app has been useless for a long time. It was only really nice in the first couple of versions of iOS when you couldn't play embedded videos.

This benefits no one.

The YouTube app has barely changed since the iPhone was released five years ago. Those who want YouTube can download it from the App Store when available, and Google can actively maintain it unlike the current YouTube app which can only be updated with an entire OS update.

Google's track record for iOS apps hasn't been great, but in the other cases they were building from scratch. In this case they at least have an idea of how a usable interface behaves.

Good. No more wasting up space on my phone, or wasting time trying to hide it in a folder. It was useless and slow anyway, i always used the mobile version on Safari. :D

I never use the app to watch videos, but I use 'Send to YouTube' via the photos app quite a lot. Can you still do that?

Get ready for iTube, where for only .99 each you can watch the videos, YOU want to watch. It will be revolutionary.

The shoddiest app to be forced on iDevices. Ugly icon is a turn off enough, then you open and start to use the app and realise how basic it is, and then you start a video and realise it's unwatchable. That app's usefulness spread ne further than searching for a song you didn't own.

Yeah. I don't see Android coming pre-installed with a crappy version of iTunes (not that Apple would ever allow that)

You never know, Apple wanted to make iTunes on Android, it was Steve Jobs who was so against it. They've been doing a few things that Steve said no to now he's dead.

I wont be updating until google release a dedicated app. They should get rid of stocks and the compass instead
