Nokia and Microsoft are holding event this Wednesday (Setember 5th), presumably and most likely to announce new Lumias for Windows Phone 8.

thanks. Wonder what the price point on the new nokia wp8 will start at?

We have my kids using a windows phone (7.5) and I was pleasantly surprised. Not sure I am ready to jump, but the phone isn't that bad.

Guys...on Apple's website it says iOS 6 will come out this FALL. The first day of fall is September 22nd. I think we'll get iOS 6 the day after iPhone 5
This must be your first product announcement. Apple doesn't follow seasonal or climatological definitions of seasons.

Can’t wait till october to get my hands on the new iPhone. Super excited! (October cus I am eligible for an upgrade then).

I pray to god that was a typo and meant to say September. Apple will not release iPhone in October, they've reserved a stadium already for the iPhone release about the 21st. They've also reserved another stadium for the iPad Mini in October. This is a confirmed reservation by the venue Apple is working with. :apple:

Clue = saberahul was referring to when his contract expires, in October.

Yup, thank you for clearing.

it will probably be just like last time. they announce iphone, release GM and then after a week Public Release :)

Since most people using iOS 6 are developers, I find it baffling that many on this board don't get the concept of closed beta. Developer betas are preview to help developers create/update apps to use iOS 6 APIs. After awhile, Apple goes back to closed beta to stabilize the code and add secret stuff (if any). Just because beta 4 is buggy doesn't mean there hasn't been internal betas. Just accept that there won't be any more developer betas and wait for GM next Wednesday.

I stick with my theory: iOS 6 has some neat stuff that Apple is saving for the keynote. Same with iPhone 5. As if the invitation wasn't enough of a sign, NO MORE BETAS. :D

Is the GM exactly the same the customers will have in their iPhones?

The GM is the same as the version that comes to the public via iTunes.

Apple install the GM on the new phones which are packaged and shipped to stores across the world for sale so that new customers and existing customers have access to the new OS on the same day, normally the launch day of the new iPhone.

not true as one GM had a different build to the final release via iTunes (forget which iOS version it was)

I think that was the case with iOS5. But that's an exception. Usually, the GM means the software is ready for public use.

One instance out of five versions of iOS, which I believe was iOS 4, had a second GM released to fix a missed bug.

What I posted is true, the definition of a GM in the case of iOS and certainly in the case of iOS 6 with the Sept 12th announcement now confirmed, is that the GM we get on the 12th will be the version of iOS installed in the new iPhone en mass prior to packaging.
