you ignore it. the same way you ignore the print button you can't use because you don't have an AirPrint compat printer.

Screen space is limited on a phone. Sure you can ignore it, but it's using up valuable screen space. In a few years we'll have to scroll through 4-5 pages of "share" options, 80% of which we don't use?

Come on. This is the sort of thinking that makes systems gradually turn to suck.

Or Verizon Android. The bloat, the bloat!!!

Big words from a guy who criticizes self-made billionaires on a message board.

Well look a little further than the end of your nose re: "self-made billionaire" and get back to me. Ethically challenged the entire way to say the least!

Guess that doesn't matter to the FB sheep!

We can only hope that these misfits are updating their facebook pages while driving, and they hit trees off the road without hurting anyone else.

It's called "cleansing the gene pool".

LOL!

"UGH TRAFFIC!"

(1 hour later)

"In hospital :-("

Honestly, it's ridiculous that this isn't automatically hidden. It would *make sense* to code it such that if there were no Twitter or FaceBook login details in the system preferences that it simply wouldn't show those options in the action sheet. Sadly, I'd guess that Apple made them be there by default so that people could see them and say "Oh cool!" and then click them to type in their details.
This is how Android handles it. Android also let's you share with any app that supports the share API.

Apparently you did not read the reports about Facebook prior to their IPO. Those "active" users include users with multiple accounts and it is estimated that ~50% of those 800 million are for spamming other users.
OK -- so, HALF of "only" 800 million! You do realize that the US Population is just over 300M so 400 Million is still quite a huge ***** number!

Apple is not giving Facebook free access to IOS6. It is building shortcuts, for people who choose to use them, to post picture and other things to their Facebook accounts.

iOS ought to have some universal "Share" API, where Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter, MyFace or whomever wants to, can each write some version of their service that interfaces with it. If a user has a ResearchGate membership, and RG has taken advantage of the API, then they can just add ResearchGate.com to the Share Services section of Settings, and that social networks features will become active.

Mere mention of any specific service just seems like an endorsement of a volatile third party brand. Not good.

Ah ha. Late to the party again I see...

As a developer, this is VERY exciting to me. The Twitter integration is SO easy and works great! Facebook's SDK for iOS has always sucked, so I would love for Apple to take control, tightly integrate it, and make it a better user experience for everyone.

Trust me all you doubters, this is going to really streamline integration into your favorite apps in a way that will work consistently across the board.

Apple is losing the plot. All this rubbish about Facebook and Twitter integration means little to most people. How is that appealing to that demographic known as adults? How will these useless features encourage organizations to choose iPhone as their business phone of choice? iOS6, just like OSX 10.8, sound very disappointing and underwhelming.

This... in my opinion is one of Apples worst decisions.

Caving into Zuck, and integrating Facebook into the iPhone will be wildly popular with the ladies, soccer moms, grannies & such. Yet it's contrary to Apples age old independence.

Proof positive, it's all about the money, all the iPhones that Apple will sell because of FB is more than Apple can resist. In the eyes of social computing addicts, this will increase the iPhones "cool factor".

I've never used FB, and I'm not about to start now.

For me, this is as bad as the rumored long & narrow screen... BLEH!

For a forum that is supposed to be populated by iOS/iPhone/Apple fans, there sure is a bunch of clueless users.

So far, I have found that many users who seem to have no idea how the Twitter integration works (if you don't have it, it can't be used - promoting Twitter with a button is probably an agreement between the companies).

Some here seem to think there mere existence of an API for FB automatically means Mark Zuckerburg is sifting through your texts, emails and browser history.

A very large group have ginormous entitlement issues who believe if they personally dont use something, NOBODY should and if they do, they must stupid.

How the eff does it effect you in ANY way?!?!? Geez...

Just another reason to use Android... because when it comes to options/choice, there are none in the iOS world. Its either Apple's way or the highway.

Yep, i'd love to add the fact that Facebook has virtually no privacy guards. They virtually give any info to gov't and corporations.

Hell, Facebook makes it really hard to delete anything from their servers. once in facebook, they have it and share it how they see fit.

Not really a great idea to me that this will be baked in at the IOS level. What privacy protections are there????

Most of these facts are wrong Facebook doesn't give any infO to government or corporations. They make money through targeteted advertising like advertiser says I want all females in their 30's to view this ad. The advertisers never actually see people's information.

I'm not sure about the USA but in Aistralia if they were giving information away to other people they would be breaking the privacy act. Also you can download everything Facebook stores about you from their servers and surprisingly it's only like 48MB's mostly compressed photos and your timeline in text format as well as details you've given them.

Whether you like it or not true privacy is a thing of the past now due to the Internet.

Facebook was partially funded by the CIA. It has an API for security agencies that allows them complete access to the info they have.

I still remember when Facebook would create pages for people that are mentioned by other or tagged on photos, without that person ever signing up or consenting to it. I have no doubt they continue to gather this information.

People who worry about privacy need to understand that as long as you're on the internet there is no such thing as privacy. Facebook isn't the only data collecter out there. Even opting out doesn't help much, tabs will be kept when possible.

As long as my address book isn't filled with all of my Facebook contacts, I'm not bothered. Pointless feature imo tho.
