It would be nice if this were an optional add-on to iOS 6. That way those who don't want it aren't forced to waste space that is already very limited and not expandable.

Facebook tracks you whether you have an account or not. If you visit a website with Facebook integration, it has a chance to add a cookie to your system. There are Firefox (and probably Chrome) extensions to prevent these communications with Facebook, but nothing for Safari (lack of extensions is one major reason I don't use Safari).Don't Use Facebook any way so don't care.
Apple might as well partner with Facebook and set everyone with AppleIDs up with Facebook accounts automatically next.
Facebook was partially funded by the CIA. It has an API for security agencies that allows them complete access to the info they have.
I still remember when Facebook would create pages for people that are mentioned by other or tagged on photos, without that person ever signing up or consenting to it. I have no doubt they continue to gather this information.
Sure there is, Ghostery for example. Safari has had extensions and plugins for quite a while now. There are Firefox (and probably Chrome) extensions to prevent these communications with Facebook, but nothing for Safari (lack of extensions is one major reason I don't use Safari).

Also the CIA doesn't need to sign up to Facebook to know your details they read your emails and listen to your phone calls its true.
I swear, after reading a ton of these responses, I get the feeling that some of you have no clue of how Twitter is integrated into iOS, because if you were, you'd understand how an integrated Facebook can easily be avoided just as Twitter can.
This gonna look a noob question, but here it is sir:
What does it really mean to be "integrated" to iOS?
I mean look at Twitter. It is said to be integrated already, but it still asks user to download another app before we can make use of it.
Does it only mean we can sign in from "Settings" menu instead of do it on its own app?
Notification works okay on both FB and Twitter, though admittedly Twitter app works better than the big blue F
Tweet links on message, email or website still go through Safari instead of opening Twitter app.
So what does the difference of being integrated into iOS and not? .. confused![]()
I imagine Ping will be history soon.
you can tweet without using the app itself and when you take a picture you can upload it straight from the camera app without having to go into the twitter app first. oh and you can add your friends twitter names to their contact info too
