TechCrunch reports that iOS 6 will include system-level integration of Facebook, similar to the integration seen with Twitter in iOS 5. The report comes just days after Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke positively about Facebook at the D10 Conference, closing his thoughts on the relationship between Apple and Facebook with the suggestive phrase "stay tuned".TechCrunch notes that Apple and Facebook are still working out how sharing items to Facebook will be integrated, given the varying levels of permissions on Facebook posts. The report also includes the caveat that Apple has been known to change its mind in the past, but as of right now Facebook integration is reportedly set to be unveiled in iOS 6 at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference later this month.

Then how is it integrated more so than a normal app?
How will it change your use of iOS?
Twitter was integrated into iOS5 and I'm not signed up to that. I've had no issues from 'this crap" being integrated into iOS so why would Facebook integration be any different?![]()
Headed by a young Democratically leaning devoted leader, Facebook will be a constant conduit of personal information into the Democratic political machine. Your information will be sifted, sent to political rallies which will have your information, your friend's, all sorts of ramifications. Governmental and semi governmental entities will know and have access to unending information. Not that Republicans are perfect, but in the USA today the TV, radio and social networks are headed by Democrats leaning left. They have strong axes to grind, they are not impartial, and you will be herded by political motivations. To this day Apple was impartial, I fear this is Apple's surrender to socialistic machinations.
Wow I don't usually comment on Forums but this thing really got me going. I am truly shocked at the way people that don't like or use Facebook are put down by the ones that do. It's like a scene straight out of Orwell's 1984.

Don't you people get it? Facebook is a privacy time bomb. How much time until all your information leaks and gets blamed on a "coding or server maintenance" error? Furthermore, imagine the damage that could do in the case of wide iOS integration. The more superfluous stuff they add to an operating system, the more doors they open to trouble. Facebook just like the PC has millions of users. Any virus or exploitation would bring millions to the bad guys hence the more motive to hack, steal and compromise.
There's quite a lot of the reverse as well - people who don't use Facebook belittling those that do...
Do you realize you don't actually need to be on Facebook for Facebook to get information about you? It'll have your email address for starters, and from there have a good guess at the city you live in etc etc. All it takes is for people who have your email address to give Facebook their address book, and there are plenty of people uploading there entire address book to find people.
who cares ... if you put the info on facebook its obvs meant to be seen. just dont post anything you dont want people to see. problem solved.
Which means you need to think like a diplomat and speak like a politician. At least if you have some diversity in "friends", G+ got that part right imo.
People are so upset about this? No one minded Twitter integration in iOS 5. And Facebook is 10 times the social network that Twitter will ever be. I say this not because I love Facebook, but because I don't like Twitter.
We can only hope that these misfits are updating their facebook pages while driving, and they hit trees off the road without hurting anyone else.
It's called "cleansing the gene pool".
For example recently my wife became active in a Church. We are a mixed religion marriage. Her Church friends who are very nice people but a little Jesus crazy post every day with pictures of the Church activities, etc., my Facebook page looks like the Papacy it makes me look like I am also a Jesus freak even though I am another religion. My identity looks like I am 100% Christian, 90% of the posts are now taken over by Christian messages, I am having to start deleting posts and pictures. They are all well meaning, but it is not even my religion. Many of the posts now also threaten other non believers with messages of "if you don't believe in Jesus you will go to hell"..."Only path to salvation" and so on, messages that my religion dissagrees with. Normally pluralistic, and respectfull of all other faiths, my wall looks like I am running an inquisition.
Facebook can take over and make you look like you are someone that you are not. Other friends see that activity and wonder and stay away. People know where I am going to be and call and show up.
It is scary.
Mix it with episodes of Criminal Minds and next thing you know, the unsub knows all about you. When you will be away from home, your car color, where you will vote, what you look like and you don't know who he is.
Xanax time!
Can someone please tell me what these nefarious things facebook is doing with our information? I really want an example. I'm trying not to be too much of a smart ass but really? what are these dire plans that we should be so afraid of?
I know the whole "selling your info" well okay? how has that negatively affected your life? and how does an advertiser knowing you are a 30 year old male that posts about sweaters daily really going to bring the apocalypse?
honestly one can take the view that this is really a great thing, now industry has a direct pipeline to the wants and needs of the public.
Point well taken. In hindsight it wasn't meant to be sexist, yet I can see how it came across that way.
Moreover, it's a reflection of my distaste of Facebook. I'm very well aware that I'm in a very small minority. I've never been one to adopt something just because "everyone else does". I'd much rather remain open minded, evaluate things for myself, and then decide.![]()
If you don't mind a billion dollar corporation to know everything about you that you posted in Facebook (in any form), then there is nothing wrong.
If you don't care that a company is making billions off your private information, which can be accessed by the government, Facebook, it's advertisers and more. Then there is nothing wrong.
Some people just don't care about privacy, and it's fine, but others do.
You need to understand though, that not everyone wants and needs the advertisements, a huge portion of users probably don't click on ads.
The industry has a direct pipeline to people who don't necessarily want that connection.
Its different when you google "need to fix my Xbox", and when you talk about your broken Xbox with your friend on Facebook, only to see ads (which look like spam) about Xbox and "red rings" on the right side of the page.
Who still uses Facebook? Twitter is where it's at.
Wow. It seems that people here think that you're forced to put personal information on FB..![]()
