Not true. I have not signed too, but that "tweet" option in every system share dialog is annoying, as well as "print" now there will be Facebook option too, but this is Apple, they wont allow you to personalize thing you use how you really want. I`m getting angry at Apple each day more and more... :-(

The occasional Tweet option doesn't bother me in the slightest, I'm obviously a more tolerant person than you. :)

Wanna borrow one of my tinfoil hats now?

Facebook has proven itself, on repeated counts, to be utterly ruthless when it comes to fleecing its users' privacy for a profit, relying on their ignorance of how new "features" work to keep the advertising cash flow coming in. They only accede to the demand of improved privacy conditions (and the minimum they can get away with) when shamed by public outcry and/or find themselves in legal hot water. I wouldn't put trying to make some sleazy iOS 6 deal with Apple past them.

Ok, now I'm starting to understand what the heart of this really is. I'm going to say it: it's the lack of confidence some of y'all have over Tim Cook. This is really just another way of you guys of saying:

Steve Jobs wouldn't have done this.

Load of crap. Really it is.

Is Facebook bad with privacy? They sure are. However, this integration isn't being done by Facebook. It's being done by Apple. So, if you guys honestly think that Apple will "open up the doors for Facebook" in all of their data. Then I don't know what to say.

This is not about being tolerant person, but about option to set your device as you want. I would like to be able to switch twitter/air print/and now Facebook completely off. Every share dialogue would be much more lucid since tweet, print and post on Facebook buttons are redundant on my phone,... if it`s still my phone.. or it`s theirs?

Headed by a young Democratically leaning devoted leader, Facebook will be a constant conduit of personal information into the Democratic political machine. Your information will be sifted, sent to political rallies which will have your information, your friend's, all sorts of ramifications. Governmental and semi governmental entities will know and have access to unending information. Not that Republicans are perfect, but in the USA today the TV, radio and social networks are headed by Democrats leaning left. They have strong axes to grind, they are not impartial, and you will be herded by political motivations. To this day Apple was impartial, I fear this is Apple's surrender to socialistic machinations.

French fried...

If you integrate Facebook into your operating system, you are going to have a bad time.

The majority of responses in this thread make me hope that Reynolds Wrap is advertising on this forum - they'd make a killing.

ikr, i dont even use my real last name. i dont want every fool to find me and send me friend requests

No offense, but aren't you being incredibly hypocritical? You tell us all to wear tin hats, not worry about Facebook, just don't put personal information on it, yet YOU distrust it so much you won't even use your real name on it!!

Really fills everyone with confidence with that one....

And to others, yes the issue is with Tim Cook as well as Facebook because Steve Jobs already scrapped a deal with them and Ping at the last minute due to Facebook wanting too much information on users.
I don't know Tim Cook will do the same. Everyone is 'assuming' Apple will give you a choice about this integration, yet as I said, this is Tim Cook, and as he is hinting at OSX integration of Facebook I wonder how much 'choice' we'll get.

Farcebook = BLOATWARE

This is a HUGE mistake for Apple... This, for many, would be the largest, single reason NOT to buy an iPhone OR upgrade to IOS6... REAL bad decision..

"As long as your definition of "foreseeable" is +/- 3 years.
It's a toy. Someday someone will come along with a newer and shinier toy and that'll be the end of it."
- Someone from earlier in this thread.

^ Anyone who claims that Facebook is merely a "toy" must simply be confused or unaware of just how powerful it is from a users perspective - as well as being a marketing tool. It IS possible that Facebook - if wrongly managed - can collapse in on itself much like Myspace did but I wouldn't count on it. At least not for the next 5 or so years. There's far too much personal investment in it. IMO if they streamline it a bit more and improve it's intuitiveness - it'll remain as THE virtual community to be a part of for some time to come.

Integrating FB directly into iOS simply makes sense. If you don't want to use FB... then don't. The Federal government has already cracked down on them for sharing personal info already so you don't have too much to worry about in that department any more. Or if you do have a shiny tinfoil hat on... don't use it.

Yeah and the Illuminati exists!

Once again:

Don't sign in. Simples.

So... ummm what Smartphone are you going to buy? Android? (Many Android phones have FB integrated). Windows Phone? Already has had FB integrated for a while. WebOS? Does this even exist anymore?

Ohh... You're gonna go back to Blackberry.

Have fun with that.

well it depends, i was talking about those that complain about fb just cuz its facebook. i may not agree with some of their business 100 % but facebook IS USEFULL to me and thats why i'll keep using it.

and if those people complaining are so afraid that fb is gonna steal their data, they could just do what i did ;)

the main reason i dont use my real last name is cuz every comment you make on a public site's profil will end up as a google search result.

As I've said in my previous posts. I'll say it again:

Don't sign in. Simples.

Why is this so hard for people to understand?

If you don't want Facebook integrated into YOUR iOS experience, then guess what YOU HAVE THAT OPTION.

Again:

DON'T SIGN IN. SIMPLES.

The arrogance and entitlement and stupidity on this lame issue is astounding.

That will be a good point if it is just a Facebook App. If it is Facebook integrated throughout the OS, then it is instead of other things and a lot of those are things I want. Apple has a tendency to simplify as much as they can, and more than a lot of people want. If they add Facebook integration throughout, that's a lot of other features that have to be killed to keep the level of complexity down. It's also a lot of novice users tricked into Facebook, which is a criminal scam.

This works just like the Twitter integration, YOU have to sign in. YOU have to give explicit permission for FB to integrate. This does not happen IF YOU DON'T SIGN IN.

Just like the Twitter integration.

Again... Don't sign in. Simples.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Explain to me how Facebook is going to "track you" if you don't sign in for FB integration? Please. Explain how.

I hate Twitter and have no desire to use it. So I didn't upgrade to iOS 5, right? Wrong. I upgraded, never signed in, and I've never been bothered by it.

Yup, that's right, folks.

In order to upgrade, you need to fill out a Facebook registration form, right?

If you don't have a Facebook account, nothing will happen. Just like if you don't have a Twitter account, nothing will happen.

Jeepers creepers, some people are insane.

… I use that spare false fb account for websites that annoyingly only let you access them if you have a fb account. …

In all of my web browsing I've never found a website that wouldn't give me access unless I gave them my Fb account information. Please give me an example of one of these websites.

Pretty soon you'll all (well most) won't even be allowed to take a dump without being a slave to some goddamn computer device.

Social my a**. It be infinitely more satisfying to spend the days listening to the rantings of the inmates of an insane asylum than to 'profound' excruciating minutiae of the typical global village idiot.

No, no, Mr Executioner sir....please... let me relieve you of your burden and let me put that noose around my neck for you.

you need facebook to access spotify for example

i personally welcome fb log-ins on websites, no need to go through the hassle of signing up for yet another account

by the way, those people complaining about posts by "friends" clearly have the wrong friends ...

I'm too old & too distrustful of social networking to do Twitter/Facebook, et al.

Having been in the IT business since the mid 1970's I'm now longing to return to quill pens, parchment, wax seals, & couriers. At least you can burn your unwanted photographs and letters and not worry about thousands of duplicates in the public domain.

Just like the interactions you partake in on the macrumor forums? In the future, think about what your claiming before you claim it. Lol

You are confusing social interactions with friends with discussions in a forum of people interested in a certain topic. Think about the context before you make any claims.
