I have upgraded. I like iOS 7. I just appreciate that many people don't. I feel people have a right to buy a device and use the very same firmware it came with without loss of features. I also expect updates for older OSs to continue to fix bugs and improve security. Unfortunately Apple do nothing but ditch their previous software and then remove services to make it hard do achieve tasks that you could do when you first bought the device.

Whereas I wouldn't expect Apple to support services for iOS 6 forever, the removal of them is far far too premature. Even more premature than the removal of the iTunes Store in iTunes 9.

iPhones come with the current version of iOS. If I bought an iPhone now it would have 7.1 on it. If I bought one a few months ago it would be iOS 7.0.6. If I bought one even further back in time it would be 6.1. Should Apple have to support each individual software release forever just because of a handful of users who refuse to upgrade? And if your argument is that they should only support major version changes (i.e. iOS "6" or "7") what happens if they make changes/upgrades mid cycle and individuals don't like them?

I can't wait for your car, iphone and everything you have to break down when you will need them the most. Hahaha, that will be so awesome. It's super cool to enjoy other's misery. Too bad I won't be there with a camera. Because it will happen some day. Everyone gets it some way or the other.
Not really. Misfortune befalls the foolish far more than the wise. Using obsolete software for cosmetic reasons certainly qualifies as foolish.

Btw, for everyone purposely staying on iOS 6 because of the design changes what are you going to do when iOS 8 rolls around? And iOS 9? Because Apple's not going backwards.

Yes, perhaps Apple will finally move forward and fix the bugs, make it speedy, tone down the blinding white ..and so on and so on and so on.... And people will update by their own, no force necessary.

you people

are exactly why people hate us apple fans. Between the nasty responses and names people got called who didn't want to just go out and buy a new apple tv when the iTunes store issue was published a few days ago, and the vitriolic responses here, it's no wonder Apple fan is synonymous with Cultish moron.

Some people don't like what you like = time to bash them, call them backwards luddites and mock them of course, because our all powerful favorite company can't be wrong!

Personally, I despise that they changed the contact images for iOS7. It really sucks that I can't quickly glance down to see who's ringing my phone, guess i should just get some new iGlasses according to applfantards on this forum!

My 5s is getting old anyway, guess if I don't wait in line for the 6 the second it's announced, then I'm some sort of living in the past caveman by reasoning of the posters here.

It's great that all of you have the money to go buy the newest shiniest, but it's really sad you have such disgust for those that have a different value judgement than you, especially considering how far behind power curves apple hardware usually is.

Not really because they have a solution that restores the functionality. Plus what would the damages even amount to? 50 cents per person?

This. There are in fact no damages because there is a simple and free solution. The issue only affects devices capable of upgrading to 7.x.x which can do so hassle free and cost free. Are people going to claim psychological pain and suffering do to making a conscious and free will choice not to upgrade? Is the premise going to be one of "I was forced to upgrade under duress?" Get a grip people, just upgrade and move on with your lives.

I'm on an iPad 2 and it runs fine. Just update to 7.1 and it'll run better

Again, this. I have 2 iPad 2's and an iPhone 4S running 7.1.1 and they all do it wonderfully, I know because I also have an iPad mini retina and an iPad Air as well as an iPhone 5 to compare them to. Is it as "snappy" on the older hardware? No, but everything runs very well, especially after 7.1, and considering they are getting on 3 years old, it is pretty easy appreciate running the latest and greatest on those devices without a hitch.

People are sooo naive .. Or maybe just plain stupid :D

Does the presence of bugs and vulnerabilities in older software versions suggest malicious intent as well? After all Apple only fixes them in the newest version of iOS so the only way to get them is to upgrade.

Maybe Apple is doing people a favor by breaking a feature and forcing them to a software version that isn't filled with exploits...

I'm confident it's just a matter of days if not hours until a jailbreak hack is available that fixes those ominous "certificates".

New Cook Apple is quite a joke nowadays.

This is realy unfair! I FaceTime my aunt all the time who is old and uses an iPad 2. I haven't upgraded it to IOS7 as she cannot understand how to use it - she is old and just doesnr get technology! I cannot spend another few weeks teaching her as I did - although everything is kinda the same - the way she works is off by colours and everything! This means that the iPad I brought her is now useless for what I brought it for
Yes I can put Skype on it - but it's not as easy to use as FaceTime and there are other services BUT again the whole reason for FaceTime was to make it easier for her
Thanks apple - you have made my day even worse

You're not serious, are you?

People are quick to make fun of android devices that don't get the latest updates Google releases and then complain when they have to upgrade to the latest version of iOS.

I know its not necessarily the same people doing both, but its still quite funny thinking about that.

I don't see why people would so get upset over the design changes on 7 so as not to upgrade. Here's news... if you ever get a new iOS device, its going to have 7 (or 8 or whatever) on it. Might as well give in and just upgrade, you might like it (and you'll have no choice in the future). You can also take advantage of any new features as part of the OS available with your device.

If your not planning on getting a new iOS device because you don't like the new interface, well then you don't really need to be using FaceTime, now do ya? Since you'll lose it when you switch away.

Not really. Misfortune befalls the foolish far more than the wise.

Exactly. Just because your IQ doesn't let you enjoy your smartphone for more than the mail, Safari and for the pretty pink colors doesn't mean everyone is like you. Some of us use our iphone in ways you cannot imagine.
The ios 7 users have small heads but their brain still have a lot of room to move :D
