Same thing kept happening to me. The fix is you must not restore from your back up before you jailbreak. Update your phone to 7.1.2 (clean install) Set up phone as new (don't install anything). Jailbreak and then restore your phone from your backup. :)

Awesome!! Can't wait to try this. For some reason I thought restoring from backup would remove the jailbreak.

Thanks!

For some reason the last part doesn't happen.

The very last reboot before it's 'done' and the pangu logo flashes up on the phone, that's not happening.

And when it does finally work I get a cydia error. Very strange, will restore again tomorrow, set up as a new phone and see if that helps. It's almost 2am now and I can't be bothered.

Just to check, I read the PPSync was removed in pangu 1.1 english veriosn, is this correct?

This worked perfect. Thanks

updated to 7.1.2

updated to 7.1.2, and now after 20 friggin attempts at rejailbreaking, I'm throwing in the towel. I have restored my 5s twice and each time pangu begins injecting, I press the pangu springboard icon, and then I get the dreaded, "connect your device and click jailbreak button to begin" GGGGRRRRRRR. I'm hoping the servers are overwhelmed. I have the date set to June 2, at 2:00pm, no passcode, and no auto-lock. I had 7.1.1 working like a champ, now I'm a chump for updating to 7.1.2.

Can I update to 7.1.2 with a jail broken phone or do I need to restore first?

I was on 7.0.6 jailbroken. I updated to 7.1.2, then jailbroke...no probs for me. No restore needed.

I then installed PkgBackup and restored my jailbroken apps. I had to uninstall Intelliscreen and Gridlock while in safe mode. But I'm running fine now. Took less than an hour.

No issues going from 7.1.1 to 7.1.2 then JB but battery life taking a noticeable beating since JB.

Not a wise move.
It's Always recommended to fully restore clean with iTunes and then jb.
Your choice but I'd avoid it.

Not really a big deal. If it didn't work, I would do a full restore. And if that didn't work, I would DFU restore. This isn't my first rodeo.

 GL

5S
Anyways, I did DFU restored to 7.1.2 (call me old school but I'm a sucker for DFU) and jb w/ Pangu, did have an issue when injected but I just reinjected it again and it went trough, phone looks to be spending just as much battery as when it was jb with 7.0.4 I haven't really set up any tweaks except MovieBox so I can't comment if maybe the extra loss of battery life for some of you is a new tweak that is not properly adjusted yet. As for other 5S owners, definitely recommend the update to 7.1.2 from 7.0.4 much better performance in touchid opened 12 random tabs in safari no crashes yay!

I hear you.
It's pretty simple now that it's still signed by Apple and the latest iOS can be jb.
But in the long run they say that it can be buggy and give you issues if updated or updated ota and not restored fully with iTunes.
And it's a long process to restore all your iTunes apps and stuff and then install all your jb hacks and setup everything the way you want it.

I always do my updates via iTunes...never OTA. I don't always do a straight update when jailbreaking. For 7.0.6, I did a full restore and reinstalled JB apps from scratch. I'll be in an iPhone 6 in 3 months, so chose the quick route this time.

8 hours later and it feels as stable as 7.0.6. Also not seeing any difference in battery use. I am missing not having Intelliscreen installed, but it'll get updated shortly.

True that.
I have everything setup great and the way I want my phone to be now on jb 7.0.4
Not sure if it's worth my time updating to 7.1.2 and having to deal with some incompatibilities and other issues for such minor iOS update.

I made a backup of my Retina Mini just before upgrading to 7.1.1 just now and upon finishing, I was prompted to setup the iPad as usual. Before I got it setup, iTunes had made a backup which backed up the freshly restored iPad with nothing on it yet, and now my most recent backup is gone.

I have an iCloud backup from this morning but that will take over a day at this rate so I'm restoring a backup from April on another computer. I don't need whatever it was that bad to not be able to use my iPad for a day while icould slowly restores. I did get it Jailbroken which is the most important thing.

I ended up restoring my phone, just incase.

Random question, but after restoring, am I able to restore from my backup and then jailbreak? Or could that complicate things?

It's best to not to avoid potential future issues after the signing window is closed and you're SOL
