I'm not sure when this happened, but all of my messages show a phone number now. Is there a way to change it back to the name, I had for each one?

Thank you

What carrier are you on? This was an issue with Verizon in the past (like iOS 5 and 6) and dialing *228 option 1 then closing phone app would solve it.

7.1 seems to have fixed an issue i had with 3rd party accessories, my BMW Y-Cable now works with a lightning adapter ! ( Before, it was doing the whole charging, not charging dance).

Not sure if this was mentioned but the unlock to home screen animation is slightly faster as well. They don't take as long to come onto the screen. Looks much closer to what is animated on Apples website. Not sure why they kept the slower animations for almost 3 months. But thankfully they are a lot better.

I'm pretty sure Apple uses renderings on their sites and on presentations so it's not actually running on device it's more like a movie.

You must not realize that MacRumors isn't the majority. It's not even 1% of Apple users. Most people I know (normal people btw) have no issues with iOS 7.

Thats great, most people that I do have a ton of issues with it.

If iOS 7 was so solid, why did they release 4 new versions not even 2 months after it was released and are currently planning a minor release?

Take off the blinders, Jesus.

Didn't iOS 6 do the same thing? An iOS is going to have big fixes. You must not talk to NORMAL users and not ones that are all into their device. Most don't have a issue.

I know that but my point is that its been sped up and looks very much closer to the style and speed of whats on the site. The difference between the site rendering and what we have on 7.0.X is very very different.

Alright. It's just that you said that you don't know why it took them three months… It just didn't seem like you knew..

My battery life is horrible! I used to get around 5-6 hours of use with 15-16hrs standby and now I'm lucky if I get 2-3 hours of usage and 5-6 hours of standby.

IOS 6 was on 6.0.2 by this point and was about to launch 6.1 - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_6 - not really so different is it? In fact considering the fact that IOS 6 was so similar to 5 while IOS 7 is both a complete design refresh and totally reengineered for 64bit, the surprising thing is how much of a hash they made of 6 in comparison.

BTW, five close family members with IOS 7 upgraded devices here, and five with no problems. I'm sure we can prove something this way.

I'm well aware. What I meant by that is that it seems weird that apple was using an animation that was so much faster than how the device actually operates.

On control center, now if no music is played (idle) nor on pause state it will say 'Music' rather than empty space on earlier iOS 7.
I can be wrong though sorry if I am :)

Yes, and it seems to be a lot better at remembering your last player. It will have the name of other players (e.g. Spotify) if they were the last to be used. 7.0 was pretty bad at remembering, it didn't have to be long before it would forget this and pressing play would start playing stuff in Music even if I was last listening to Spotify. 7.1 seems to be better.

Right, I've experienced it before.
iOS 7.1 beta 2 remembers the last played music from different music players.
I remember back on the 7.0.1 after a while I paused the music, the control center went blank without the last title I played but when I pressed the play button, the title appeared and continued from the point I left it.

Is this happening to anyone else on their iPad air (network/wifi being used when not actually downloading anything:

does iOS 7.1 fix the crash when using multitasking? tends to bring up the apple logo (as if restarting) a lot on my iPad air and iPhone 5s.

After a week using it I can safely say yes, it does! Both my iPhone 5S and my iPad Air are running very stable. No more reboots.

Final GM or Public copy of IOS 7.1

Hello, I checked on this and couldn't find anything. So if it was asked, please go easy on me.

I installed 7.1 beta two as part of a developer account. Now I remember when 7.0 came out, it required a fresh download of the final release as it was not possible over the air. Does this also mean that when the final version of 7.1 becomes available to the public, one will have to download and install a fresh copy or will it be available as a OTA update since it is still in the 7.xx series?

It would be a pain to do a fresh install but if this is the only way then I won't bother put my scores of software until the public version becomes available.

Thanks,

James

Apple has never provided OTA updates to final GM seeds in the past, so yes, you'd have to download the full OS restore file to directly update your iOS devices via iTunes.

Note that you never have to do a fresh install, you just have to ask iTunes to update your iOS devices with that file you downloaded.
