Bleh, the phone looks even worse now, but at least the icons are a bit darker (idc since I jailbroke and got an iOS 6 icon pack). I want at least an option to have the search and URL bars SEPARATE in Safari. Why? Because by combining them, they had to replace the ".com" button on the bottom with a big spacebar, and I feel like they sacrificed other things too.

It's still a slide.. lol The actions to activate a call hasn't changed.

That's a relief. Thanks for letting me know. From the pic it looks like the answer button is on the right side. Does that mean you swipe from right to left to answer an incoming call?

looks somewhat better. from the pics less eye bleed front teh bright colors so that's a nod in my book.

get back to me when there's some news on stability and usability. seriously? a slightly different hue of green? unreal.

why on earth would you think those are the only changes? do you believe graphic & UI designers work on OS-level coding? how strange.

The real question should be: why there always are people speaking about Google in every thread on this forum ?

Good question. I would love to leave Google out of it, but I include Google in replies when the OP mentions them. I certainly don't think Apple worries that much about Google and others (for better or worse) when making decisions about iOS features and updates.

They could have done it for similar reasons for end call too--to avoid accidental hangups that perhaps more people were experiencing and/or to fit in with the round button idea, which makes it impractical to a large circular button to be there without making things even more awkward.

That is what the proximity sensor is for, to prevent the user from accidentally touching the screen when they hold it up to their ear. The only scenario where the screen stays on is in speaker mode, in which most cases the user is looking straight-on at the display, so it would take somebody with Parkinson's Syndrome to accidentally hit the end button.

Jonathan Ive is simply (pun intended) out of his mind.

Redesigning the entire operating system apparently isn't "big" enough. While Google's been sitting on Android 4.X for years now.

Yep, you're so totally right. Not saying 4.1-4.4 haven't included some neat features, but they've slowed down substantially since releasing 4.0. Mainly because they found a good design and didn't want to fix something if it wasn't broken. You know, kinda like Apple did from iOS 1-6. And now that they HAVE done a substantial overhaul with an entirely new design personality as well as some substantial and incredibly powerful new APIs, you're saying Apple isn't "pushing larger changes"

Lol.

I guess you haven't looked at android in a few years then. They changed the UI significantly in 4.4, Kitkat.

Nice try though

iOS 7 beta one introduced the ugliest UI in iOS history. iOS 7.1 furthers that ugliness even more. What in the hell is wrong with apple these days. These new UI looks like they let elementary children go at it.

iOS 6 was great now we have this ugly atrocious UI design. Apple should be ashamed...wait, iphone users should be all ashamed. Let's not forget what a waste of screen real estate it is on the iPads.

Cringeworthy ugly designs. Trash them all and reset back to ios 6 designs please.

I really wish apple would have stuck with the original design of ios 7 from the very first beta, ie: 7.0 beta 1

Wow. I normally dont comment on these but i really hope these changes dont make it into the iOS 7.1 GM. Every single one of these changes are so tacky! It looks like an iphone knockoff interface lol. The answer, shutoff... ew come on.

Update: Had a 2nd look lol. Okay the green icon color change works. But the answer and shutoff screens are reidiculously tacky. And the whole point of the keyboard font was to be uniform with the ios' new font scheme. Way to ignore that apple.

Eh. Don't care for any of it.

The keyboard makes it look as if buttons are selected when they aren't and it looks as if it is inching back towards the iOS 6 keyboard.

The call screen circles give the screen an unbalanced look.

I prefer the neon green icons of the current iOS 7 version because they work better with the other bright, saturated, and neon colors of the os. But, this is subjective.

Slide to power off looks totally out of place and doesn't reflect the aesthetic of the rest if the operating system. The cancel button especially looks like something that could be in Mavericks.

And, the pink buttons in music exhibit the same issue as the new keyboard- it makes it appear as if the repeat all and shuffle all buttons are selected when they aren't.

That is, quite possibly, one of the most visually disgusting pieces of mobile software design I have ever seen.

Hold on - are we all sure they didn't totally legalise cannabis over in California, too? Because someone at Apple seems to be on a different planet to the rest of us.

One of the most??? The MOST virtually.... (Like u said it)

Yes, it is disgusting. First time in my personal history I came back to a previous beta. I can't stand the answer/shut off screen. Incredible.

Audiobooks now repaired

As I wanted to listen to some audiobooks over the holidays and couldn’t due to the last beta, I’m happy to report that they’ve also fixed audiobooks this time ‘round!

What? Google hasn't changed much at all since 2011.

Agreed. And the only reason they changed so much in the early days is because Android was so god awful which the media somehow recognized as major progress and innovation. Apparently, some people still believe that.

All this shows me is that some political battle happened at Apple and Jony was somehow overruled.

Why are we making iOS 7 typography look like iOS 6? Is this some sick joke?

Jony's hardware is beautiful. I hope they never let him design anything OS related again.
