Status bar now displays "4G" instead of "LTE"

Still says LTE for me. On Rogers.

that sounds Carrier side, not software

I'm on Vodafone Australia and the carrier settings seem to have been updated on beta 3. Mine now says '4G' instead of 'LTE' as well.

I suspect this may have been changed for most carriers except North America since AT&T is using the fake '4G' indicator there for the HSDPA+ service, so they need to differentiate between that and real 4G LTE.

The carrier name in the status bar has also been changed from 'voda AU' to 'vodafone AU', which is entirely too long. I miss being on 3 and having just '3' up there. :p

That's perfectly normal. It just means that you don't have LTE speeds, only 4G speeds.

It goes from GPRS, Edge, 3G, 4G and finally to LTE.

Mine still shows LTE

Uh, yeah, no. As of right now, 4G and LTE are the same thing. Apple had to differentiate the identifiers in the status bar when they introduced LTE because they let AT&T display their 3G HSDPA+ service as 4G for whatever dumb reason.

FYI before beta 3, both 3G HSDPA and HSDPA+ service on Vodafone AU were both identified as '3G', while 4G LTE was identified as 'LTE'. The only thing that's changed with beta 3 is that the 4G LTE is identified as '4G' instead.

It sounds like you fell for AT&T's lies.

God only knows why they just can't use E, 3G, H+, and LTE for the indicators. "4GEEE" has SO many different definitions. If I run a speedtest on my AT&T iphone 5 with LTE turned off, you tell me how 1mbps is 4G?

Why Apple ever allowed the fake 4G we'll never know.

The top left Reader icon for Safari in beta 3 always shows. In beta 1 and 2 it only showed up when it was offering a Reader view.

So now I'm tapping a lot and it sometimes responds (yay) sometimes not (bad icon, bad!)

The App Store program shows the incorrect Updated date. Looks like it does not take time zone into account.

The wall paper preview is not correctly showing the chosen wall paper if it is a panaroma wall paper.

Music

Did anyone do the OTA and have all of their music disappear but when plugged in to itunes, it shows up there? Since I don't have it stored in on my computer, it will not allow me to drag it back onto the iPhone. It is puzzling because the songs only show when the iPhone is plugged into the computer and iTunes is open.

the network icon showing E, 3G, 4G, H+, LTE or whatever it may be, is simply showing which network your phone is connected to. it does NOT reflect the speeds you may actually be seeing.

if my phone is currently connected to an active LTE network, however due to heavy traffic or a network issue, lets say my speeds are slower....maybe 7 mbps instead of the usual 25. the phone will show LTE since im technically still on it. its not going to be like "oops these are 3G speeds, lets change the icon to 3G or H+". again, they indicate the network, not the network speeds. they can vary regardless. 1 mbps down on LTE is still LTE, even if its only working at 3G speeds or less.

and my money is on that the network indicators are part of the carrier settings, not the OS. the OS has the ability to display them all, the network tells it which one to show.

I posted earlier that it displays 4G instead of 3G on Telstra earlier in the thread. It's in actual fact LTE has been renamed to 4G on Telstra Australia, along with a carrier update with B3.

Music.app doesn't "go to the background" when I pause a song. So after I pause the song, if I power off the screen and then power back on, the album artwork is still there on lock screen, paused and everything.

If I fully close Music.app, then the album artwork goes away but the music controls are still there.

Had to fully power down and power back up to reset it back to a regular lock screen.

I don't know if anyone has said this or when it happened but my iMessage saves recent group messages so if I want to start one after deleting it or send a picture I just typed one of the names and the group was available to be picked. Something I'm guessing no one really has noticed.

That happened to me a lot in beta 2 as well but went back to the regular lock screen after a while. Haven't tried with beta 3 yet, I'm not sure if it's intentional because it certainly could be useful to have music controls remain briefly - if you just wanted to pause it for a few minutes, for example.

Holy crap how did u get your download speed in the 20's? I'm 6.09 with an iphone 5!!! On wifi

That's entirely dependent on the network you're connected to - connection type, signal strength, gateway speed (for Wi-Fi), etc.

Also, I has four pictures that my phone would recognize as panoramas, now only one is in the folder. The one that is in the folder was one I took and the others were cropped I think.

So either they're making the requirements different or just harder to to save pictures that weren't taken on the phone. Either way I'm kinda upset about this.

Weather is missing from the "Today" tab in the Notification Center. It's not even available as an option in Settings anymore.

On another note, I haven't been able to get Siri to work even once since I upgraded to beta 3. I will say this, though: When Siri tells me he can't help me right now, it sounds much more natural and life-like than it used to.

It will requires location services turned on for weather.

Another additional change I found is for non 4 digits pass code, now the keyboards show done instead of return (beta2)

Some app icons, like Chrome, look almost like a screenshot used for the icon. Some are really small and distorted.

Tried reinstalling the apps - no dice.

Having issues with icons for Chrome, Mailbox, LinkedIn, CNN and Songza.

I have had the same issue on beta 2 and beta 3.
happened with these apps for me: Chrome, Clash of Clans, Web Albums, FlickStackr, Wide Sky, Day One,

I noticed, in this seed Videos will not play, I am wondering if this was in the Release notes, I read them but don't remember anything else being posted in the Portal about this. Otherwise barely any bugs on iPod touch 5th gen I have only noticed this:

- Siri can still cause SpringBoard to crash if you use her for too long.
- Music.app will crash when trying to delete a duplicate "playlist"
- SpringBoard will crash if too many apps are in the background
- Sometimes an issue will occur where the Wallpaper will turn black (just like in beta 2, happens less frequently)
- When using a Dynamic Wallpaper, and you get a Notification on the Lockscreen, and you slide to unlock regularly, the bubbles will blur before flickering and assuming their regular positions.
- Music.app Album covers I would say about 90% disappeared for me? (They were fine in betas 1 and 2)
- Frequently visited places feature in Notification Center is missing in iPod touch still, it was there in beta 1.
- No pulsing indicator for a battery charging...(Not sure why this was removed?)
- Music.app ratings have returned, but when trying to rate a song an issue occurs with a screen flicker to black and then back again.
- Reminders.app shows a zoomed distorted image of the icon when opening the app.

New animations at the top of the weather app (didn't show up in previous betas for me).

Streets don't show up while navigating in maps app. Need to zoom out/in to get it to refresh.

Is anyone getting a random "enter you Apple ID and password" alert? It pops up for me then it will do the automatic download of whatever apps needed updated. Just started happening to me with b3.
